Introduction on the 100 reviews or less policy:…read more As I mentioned in a review recently, I've enacted a policy of only reviewing restaurants or businesses that have 100 or less reviews. Could there be an exception? Sure. But I have a long list of about 85 restaurants in the DC-Baltimore area that I've been to and were halfway memorable or interesting in some way. The 85+ restaurants will keep me busy for a while. My list goes in order from the most reviewed to least as of this past weekend. Tropical Smoothie in Alexandria had 97 reviews and is first on my list. Alexandria gets a decent amount of representation since I lived there the first 3 years in the DC area, and in fact the first 2 of 3 reviews on the list are in Alexandria. Experience/Taste/Customer Service: I went to this Tropical Smoothie on several occasions. The smoothies are always tasty. They were friendly and fast. One cool thing that Trop Smoothie does is donate to Camp Sunshine, which is a camp on a lake in Maine for children with life-threatening illnesses to give them the opportunity to enjoy various recreational activities around the scenic, picturesque lake, and has helped children from all 50 states & 27 countries. On the 3rd Friday in June from 2-7 PM, it's what they call National Flip Flop Day. If you wear flip flops, you get a FREE smoothie and instead of paying them, you can make a donation to Camp Sunshine. I went to this location on 2 of those National Flip Flop Days.

I just discovered this place last year and am now a regular customer for their delicious smoothies!…read more(Honestly better than smoothies at other chains). They also have good sandwich wraps with really fresh ingredients but it's the fruit smoothies that I crave so often that I became a loyalty member ;-)

Sunday Brunch day! Today I was craving a nice Omelette, and…read moremy brunch philosophy is always quality over quantity. And since it's officially fall, I couldn't resist adding a little pumpkin flavor to my Sunday with a pumpkin spice latte. I actually started at another restaurant that I won't name. Unfortunately, the service didn't quite meet the moment. I sat at the bar for almost 10 minutes without any acknowledgment from the bartender. I completely understand that Sundays during brunch can be busy, but a simple "Hey, I'll be right with you" would have made all the difference. So I decided to take my beautiful self to HomeGrown. ‍ And I'm glad I did! I knew it was Sunday brunch, so I expected it to be busy. Luckily, there were two open seats at the bar, and I was shown to one right away. The bar was busy, but the bartender immediately acknowledged me and let me know she'd be right with me. That small gesture was appreciated, so I happily sat back and waited. My bartender/waitress, Ashley, was friendly, attentive, and made sure everyone at the bar was taken care of. My food came out in a timely manner, and the omelet was really good! I substituted the bread for challah, and let me tell you... that was a good decision. And of course, I had to try the pumpkin spice latte. Delicious! Overall, I enjoyed my Sunday brunch experience at Homegrown and would definitely come back to try something else on the menu. Sometimes it really is the little things -- a simple acknowledgment, good service, good food, and a little fall flavor. Sunday brunch: redeemed.

My only recommendation is for the staff to be mindful Of the language used while customers are still seated. There were a few curse words used (very loudly)

Everything is made fresh with organic ingredients, which really sets them apart from typical smoothie spots. What I appreciate most is their commitment to clean, plant-based food. It's not just a trend here, it's the foundation of the entire menu. Everything is thoughtfully prepared, and you can tell they care about what they're serving. The ambiance is another highlight. It's bright, clean, and modern, making it a perfect spot for quick meetups, casual conversations, or even just a reset during a busy day. It has that effortless DC CityCenter vibe that feels both elevated and relaxed at the same time. During the colder months, they also decorate the space, which adds a really nice seasonal touch and makes the experience feel even more intentional and inviting. This is a must-stop every single time I'm in CityCenter. Whether you're looking for something quick, healthy, or just consistently good, Fruitive delivers every time.

I ordered the Tuscan Kale wrap (kale, sweet potatoes, quinoa, broccoli, chickpeas, onions, basil pesto, hummus, cayenne, tortilla) in a gluten-free wrap, and it was honestly one of the most flavorful wraps I've ever had! The ingredients tasted super savory and fresh. I also tried the Coffee Date smoothie (cold brew coffee, almond milk, banana, peanut butter, raw cacao, dates), and it was delicious. The atmosphere is cute, clean, and trendy, with a really welcoming feel. It's small with limited seating, but it wasn't overcrowded at all. I went with a group of three and we sat outside--perfect setup for a warm day with shaded seating and umbrellas. Inside, there were people working on laptops, so it definitely seems like a great spot to hang out or work remotely. Service was quick, warm, and friendly. Overall, such a great find. I'd absolutely come back.
