Loved this place! Spacious, clean restaurant and they serve generous fresh healthy bowls. I had the greens bowl with fresh fruits and my son had the açaí bowl. I liked that they had chia seeds and honey on the side for you to add, if you desire. Will be back!

    Super Green Smoothie

I wanted a green smoothie but I was too lazy to make it, so I searched Yelp and found South Block. I ordered the super green smoothie. It was very delicious and I didn't feel guilty since it was packed with so many nutrients. There were a few chunks of fruit and some unblended kale in my smoothie, but overall, it was worth it. I ordered to go, but I did observe that it's very spacious with plenty of seating options.

I really wanted to like this spot. The vibes were nice, and the mission is great, but I'm afraid for the amount of time I waited, I most likely will not be back We came in on a Saturday afternoon, around 12:05pm. I imagine it was rush hour, but there were not too many people in there. Having worked in a smoothie shop before, I expected a 10 minute wait with the amount of people in there and staff of 4 behind the counter. Nope. We waited 30 minutes and paid about $15 for an açaí bowl including tip. I felt bad since the guy in front of me came in before my partner and me, and still got his order after us (rough man...) I assume it's because as they're working on in person orders, they're also working on mobile orders? The smoothie bowl was good. The fruits used were fresh. And I appreciate that they leave out raw honey so that you get to determine your sugar levels. TLDR; service was not great for the amount of people that were there, but the smoothies are good. If you're okay with a 20-30 minute wait to fulfill your smoothie bowl craving, I would recommend this spot.

Yummy! I love that they make each order fresh. I often customize my bowls but have also gotten regular menu items. I'll make the drive for this any day!

Come here quite often, so shocked I have not left a review yet. I've been going to South Block for about 6 years in multiple locations. The staff is very nice, professional and practice great food health habits. They always inquire of severity of a food allergy, if applicable. Reasonable prices as well. I've had cold press juice, shots, coffee, smoothies and smoothie bowls (my fave). My go to is the Nutella Bowl.

5 stars!! I love the mission of this place. They are all about giving back and building up communities and people. They have multiple locations around the DMV area. It just gives me all of the good positive vibes that I like to feel at an establishment. I got the queen bee açaí bowl, because what else would a Queen get?!? Lol. They have multiple options or you can make your own. What's even cuter is they offer a puppy smoothie bowl! Love it! Service was quick and friendly. Price was on par with other açaí bowl places. The only negative...they're not in LA! My family member introduced me to this place when I visited the area and I can't wait to go again!

I've traveled all over the country trying smoothies and smoothie bowls from many places, but no place tops South Block. Doesn't matter the season, location, whatever, South Block consistently hits.

I don't know how they always manage to push out all orders so quickly and stay so busy. The inside is always super clean and my favorite part about this place is the outdoor seating especially in the warmer weather. I absolutely love this neighborhood jam and if I can't make it in person, you better believe I'm going to order them through Uber Eats. Everybody here is always so friendly too!!

Avocado toast and PB Peanut Blast Smoothie
    Shefali L.

I was missing my daily greens and homemade protein smoothie while visiting town. I stumbled upon this place near the hotel I was staying at. I got a peanut blast smoothie with plant based protein ($1 more). I also got an avocado toast which is plain and would taste better with micro greens or something. The avocado toast was so salty and very oily. I can see that they put too much oil and salt. The smoothie was good but could be better with added flavor. The smoothie was expensive and I think it's ridiculous that they charge more for plant protein. Some of the staff were friendly but the one who helped me was kind of rude. I had to explain to her I've never been here and she seemed annoyed for me asking questions. Other than that, it is still a great place to visit and the concept is great. Wished we had more everywhere else.

After a long hike I wanted something light but tasty. I've heard good things about South Block so I figured why not give it a try! I'm definitely glad we did. The staff was very helpful, patient and kind! I had no idea what I wanted and the person at the cash register gave some awesome recommendations. They had juices on sale as well so I grabbed 2 for the road. The smoothie was delicious and the açai bowl was so fresh and tasty. It took a bit to get the order but definitely worth the wait. Inside is super clean and there is an option to order yourself as well. I will definitely go back!

    PBJ Bowl
    Matthew L.

Definitely a value to the neighborhood since it's pretty devoid of smoothie/açaí bowl places. I had the PBJ bowl and it was a little watery which detracted from the taste. Will be back again as they have plenty more options.

    Sydnie C.

Ordered the green bowl and was pleasantly surprised and how tasty it was. I typically only get acai bowls so this was my first time just getting a standard smoothie bowl. The line was super long at this location but figures for a Saturday morning.

Delicious smoothies and açaí bowls! I love that they offer a mini size for some of the bowls and smoothies, and they also give you the option of splitting a regular size bowl into two half sized bowls at an added cost so that you can share with someone. This location has indoor and outdoor tables which is nice! Easy and convenient parking on the street as well.

He was in the mood for Lahmacun (sounds like Lahamajoun) super thin, crispy pizza topped with a mixture of minced meat with peppers, tomato, herbs, and spices. More fine, light, and delicate than the typical American thin pizza. The service, drinks, and food were beyond stellar in Narman. We felt like the only customers there and were waited on by many staff. The highlight of the day there was their pizza and their beverage presentation and flavors. We came on a weekday night and were the only people there in the end. My husband was impressed at how upscale the restaurant was and it was the finest Turkish restaurant he ever visited. He said it was similar to the hotel dining place he lived at in Turkey. This was our first restaurant in downtown Alexandria and one of our best experiences in Alexandria. The Lahmacun was the finest Turkish pizza my husband ever had. He ordered three of them! Each pizza was served on a large wood board with extra toppings on the side like lemon wedges, cilantro, and onions. They are so fine and thin that you can roll them up to eat. We had to put some of the last pizza aside for take out. I ate the takeout piece and was very impressed how delicious it was after being in the fridge overnight & re-heated. I loved the flavors of the Lahmacun and I don't even care for pizza that much. It is my most preferred pizza in my life ever next to the Crazy Ex in The Thirsty Goat in Clarksville, Tennessee. I ordered a Turkish dish with a rich and ancient history, Hunkar Begendi, or "Sultan's Delight." It dates back several centuries, and it was prepared for the sultans and high-ranking officials, and was served during special occasions and celebrations. The Hunkar Begendi had lamb and velvet soft eggplant with spices. I ordered it with a side of rice. It was very delicious and unique. Yet the Lahmacun despite its simplicity stole the show and cost 1/3 of the price of the Hunkar Begendi. For my beverage, I ordered The Elma. It has a stunning presentation in a smoke filled glass box. The Elma is a beverage with Bourbon, Peach liquor, vanilla maple, Apple butter,Lemon juice, and Apple cider. You have to watch the videos of how it is presented at the table. At the end of our dinner, they played happy birthday and surprised my husband with an ice cream and pumpkin dessert with a candle. So wonderful & heartfelt. It was a fascinating and flavorful dish. The pumpkin tasted like sweet potato & was different. This is a must see place for Turkish cuisine and the finest restaurant service. Prices are low to fair for such high quality food and service. Five Stars.

We walked in and were blessed to immediately get a table despite being told it may be an hour wait on the phone. We received a menu and ordered the breakfast burrito and the biscuits and gravy. Our food came extremely fast which surprised me and makes me wonder how much is prepped ahead. My friend received the burrito and it was very greasy so she requested to order something else. My biscuits and gravy were yummy. The eggs were cooked well and the fried chicken was the star of the show. Easily this was some of the best chicken I have had in a while. I overall enjoyed my meal but I wish there was way more gravy as there was only a little bit layered on top of the 2 biscuits. My friend was given a menu to order something else and this menu was different and had dinner options. It was 4:30 when we came and not more than 15 minutes of difference before receiving a menu the second time so we were surprised but eager to look. My friend ordered the half chicken which came with collard greens and grits. Since there was a different menu I wasn't aware of I wanted to order something additional and opted for saving the brunch meal I ordered for breakfast tomorrow. I loveeee scallops so when I seen them on the menu especially over grits I had to order it. The scallops were cooked wonderfully and I loved the composition of the dish with the creamy grits and the acid from the tomatoes and the smokiness of the sauce and grits. My friend loved the half chicken and after trying it myself we both agreed Matt and Tony's knows how to cook chicken well. The greens had nice flavor but were a little dry and needed some broth/juice from cooking. Again the grits were delicious and creamy with a bit of smoky flavor. I also had the Peso Cocktail which was sweet with a nice kick. Overall I enjoyed this restaurant and would come again and absolute what I ordered again as well. Coming here next time will be hard cause I'm definitely going to be battling between wanting what I already had and trying something new.

All of the hip young girls in high school recommended this place to me and my friends and lets just say, they have never been more wrong. My girls and I went this weekend for a birthday brunch. I wanted a crepe, but when I saw it was 17 DOLLARS to slap some Nutella and strawberries on a piece of crepe is outrageous. I ordered a "Continental Breakfast," which, with tax and tip, cost me $30 DOLLARS. I wish you could have seen the look on my face when they gave me a plate of rabbit food. All 6 of us looked at the plate and laughed. Seriously, my 5 year old neice can eat 3 times as much of that in one sitting. So, in what world would that be enough food for a grown woman? My friend then went on to order the French toast for a grand total of $36 DOLLARS. Mind you, there was only one piece of toast, and the Inside was raw and soggy. Tasted like eating wet, soaked toilet paper. On top of the overpriced food and small portions, our "server" came to our table for a total of ONE SINGULAR TIME. My friend had also ordered a Chai Latte. Surprise, Surprise! It never came, and they still charged her for it. I think the nice man who brought us our food could see the look on our faces when we received our food, because he then brought us a free side of French fries. It is a huge problem when the french fries were the only sufficient thing I put in my mouth at this restaurant. I please, genuinely beg all of you to NOT waste your money. I promise there is anywhere else where you can get a crepe for double the size and half the cost. Once we left, we went down to Call Your Mother, the Jewish Deli, to get more food, as all of us left with our tummies still rumbling. Mind you, a full bagel sandwich and coffee cost HALF THE PRICE of one meal at Fontaine. Horrible. Mind you, it is 2 days later, and I am still thinking about this. I fully created a Yelp account just so I could leave a review. I think I would have a better experience eating an IHOP Continental breakfast than whatever I put in my mouth at this restaurant. Not worth the hype at all. Save your hard-earned cash and be a big baller elsewhere!
