I like the fresh juice offerings at Juice Generation. The combinations seem pretty well thought out and quite healthy. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a standard recipe or portion allotment. Although some (maybe most?) of my juices are pretty good, there have been times where I've noticed an inordinate amount of cucumbers or apples is used in order to make the juice more watery (and help make juicing easier for the employee). This bothers me as I am paying primarily for the nutrient-rich greens and not just the sugar (apple) and water (cucumber). Some of the employees clearly understand this and others are looking for a short cut. That said, when the juice is made properly I find it to be quite enjoyable. read more

I just love this place! I was two days into a flu that was rendered me damn near comatose. I had to get into work the following day, unfortunately. I was literally dragging myself through mass transit, and contemplating passing out as I imagined my self collapsing on the platform waiting for the 6 train. I somehow got to the office. My body was yearning for liquid nutrition. I walked around and found no places selling any real smoothies. All fluffy fruit ones. I needed ginger. And lots of it. As I was fading on 23rd street in Kips Bay, I pulled out my phone and with my last bit of energy, I went to Yelp, and searched for juice bars nearby. Juice Generation came up. Reviews looked good. I decided, what the heck. A staff person was stocking the fridge and asked if I need help while I tried to read the large variety of products they make. He suggested a hot drink called Cold Warrior. Then I saw their shots and boosters. I got the Vital Shot. (I usually make this at home when I get a cold or for people, but since I was practically dead, I couldn't. That and I didn't have ginger home.) I took the shot and started sipping the hot COLD WARRIOR concoction. I was skipping down the street within 5 minutes, and smiling at everyone saying "Hello" to all my neighborhood family. I WS ALIVE. I BEAT THIS THING. I was on the road to recovery. Prices were reasonable, they use fresh stuff. It's all GMO free. It's worth it. They get busy but the wait is worth it. ~$8 well spent. I'm obsessed with this place. I had tried one acai bowl previously and thought it was good but this place showed me what a REAL acai bowl is. I ordered the almond butter bliss. It had almond butter (duh) bananas, strawberries, granola and coconut. It was so flavorful and refreshing, I didn't want it to end. I love the variety of other things the storefront had from smoothies to pre made tacos. I see coming here a lot. The line to order intersects with the door, and the crowd of people waiting for their smoothies. Luckily, the service is very quick, so I'm not in there for a prolonged amount of time. I don't usually write reviews but I went in to juice generation on 23rd st and I had one of the best experiences in New York City thus far. The place was really clean and smelled great! Walked up to the register and the person who took my order was nice and helpful, they processed to say hey ma'am took my order and they gave me a number. I noticed that the manager came up to who originally took my order and I overheard them say to please not gender customers. They proceeded to give me my smoothie I ask the manager (Angel) if I could thank him as he noticed that I was queer and asked his employees not to gender or label customers to avoid making us feel uncomfortable! This place now holds a new spot in my heart. Yes it is very expensive, so that's why I will not be splurging on this very often. A drink here is almost the same price as a meal, which is ridiculous if you think about it, but I think the quality is really good!! Today was my first time at Juice Generation, and I got the Green guardian smoothie; it came out to $8.66 WITH TAX (maddening, I know). So this smoothie has some of my favorite stuff, by stuff I just mean the avocado, but the rest are good too LOL. Besides the Avocado, it also has spinach, swiss chard, strawberries, hemp seeds and flax seeds, all blended with almond milk and sweetened with agave. By the way, you can choose to sweeten you drink with either agave or dates! I was definitely a big fan of my drink, it had just the right amount of sweet and surprisingly, everything tasted very harmonious with one another. The avocado gave it that thick consistency which I really enjoy. Overall, is this place worth it? I would say ehhhh maybe? If you don't feel like going out and buying your own greens, washing them and cutting them up and blend it yourself....or if you don't own a blender or a juicer LOL Realistically, all the drinks they make here can easily be recreated, so in a sense, it is pretty wasteful for me to buy this drink but it'll just stay as my guilty pleasure for now. Came here 3 times so far and I think I will continue to come here. Substituting my lunch (Chipotle) with one of their smoothies once in awhile makes me feel healthy... For smoothies, their prices are pretty high ($7-8), considering that their ingredients aren't very remarkable. It depends on what you get. I've had the Multi-V and the Red Dragonfruit smoothie. I like both of them, they are sweet and refreshing. I've checked online and they have 49/40 grams of sugar.. I am not exactly sure what the daily intake of sugar for an avg adult should be, but will research that. I also got their "Cold Warrior" too ward off a cold that I felt was coming. I had a headache in the morning, but that went away after drinking the hot orange juice+ginger concoction. It may be a placebo effect, but thats fine with me! Will happily buy again. Pros: Great tasting smoothies that haven't been watered down or sweetened with too much sugar. Cons: Quite expensive, and a bit of a wait for the smoothies. Overall, I like this place. I like to get smoothies and blended veggies and not juice, because I like the fiber. These guys are really good about doing custom and they have very good ingredients even though they don't have organic. I was hoping they'd have cilantro, but they do have parsley. When you do a custom blend and it is larger (it always is) than the 20 oz cup, they give you the rest so you get what you pay for (usually and extra couple dollars). The third stop on my juice/smoothie experiment/experience/trip/whatever I'm calling it was Juice Generation. While it's not as close to the office as Liquiteria, it's still only a 10 minute walk over. Since I was feeling like a pig that day, I decided that I wanted a protein smoothie AND a raw entree. I know - so much food. The first thing I noticed when walking into Juice Generation was that there were two lines - and the second line was blocking the fridges holding the juices & raw foods. And that wasn't even the line to pay for your stuff - that was the line to pick up your order. A bit confusing for newbies to the location (like moi). I also didn't understand why there was only one cash register. I understand that it's a tiny place, but when you have three blenders and you're only using two for the crazy huge lunch crowd, you may need to do some reorganizing. Or at least have a call-in and pick up option. And move the fridges to the same side as the order/paying line so I can go pick up things along the way and not have to lose my spot in line when I see something I want to take a closer look at (which happened three times). I ended up getting the Cashew Cheese ravioli & the Coco Açaí smoothie. While I hate it when places use ice in their smoothies (and it was obvious with this smoothie, which was a tad bit watered down), the Coco Açaí was absolutely delicious - it's totally a smoothie you'd drink while relaxing on the beach. (Then again, anything with coconut automatically makes me want to go to a beach.) Super sweet and it totally worked as an afternoon snack. The Cashew Cheese ravioli was absolutely delicious - I love cashew cheese and the pesto served with it was pretty good (if a bit oily). Totally looking forward to trying their other raw entrees and smoothies. Next on my list are the Kale Kolada, Peanut Butter Split, Joyful Almond, Red Dragonfruit, I Watermelon & Mr. Greengenes. So basically all of them. I also want to try their pad thai, live pizza, maki rolls & Açaí bowls. So... I want to try everything. I also like that Juice Generation's website has the calories & ingredients listed. While I know that you really shouldn't calorie count, it helps when I'm inputting what I ate into my fitbit log - normally I just guestimate the amount of ingredient used in various smoothies. read more

I go here because it's conveniently located right next to my train station, and I keep asking myself why. I haven't had a single occasion where my smoothie was the actual consistency of a smoothie. They put so much ice in it that they have to bang the blender against the counter to get it into the cup. This wouldn't even be a problem if they checked the blenders and made sure they didn't get stuck while blending. Finally getting around to writing this review after my 15th $8 slushie. today I ordered a smoothie (I think it was almond joy) and I asked what type of Almond milk they use (Almond breeze, Khalifa, Silk, etc) and the guy told me "we're not allowed to give that information out." That is a little bizarre especially because I'm paying around 8 dollars for a drink I should know what is in it. Some almond milks are very watery and are blends (meaning there are extra ingredients besides Almonds and water) and i am not a fan of those. Came here for a quick snack with my girlfriend. Juice Generation has a nice natural layout using clean wood throughout their layout. Menus were easy to read and my girlfriend got the PB Acai bowl while I got the Protein Buzz with a scoop of peanut butter and almond milk. I was really craving a protein shake beforehand because I wanted to be semi healthy and get some protein and fats in my system. Our items came out quick, within 5 minutes of ordering and we hung out in Juice Generation while listening to cool Hip Hop music like Run DMC's Beats to the Rhyme playing in the background haha. Overall I think the Acai bowl was too watery, but I did like that it wasn't too sweet tasting. The Protein buzz was okay, nothing special, but it was nice the staff gave me a small cup of extra smoothie they made. specified nut allergy several times when ordering a shake. went through each ingredient with staff to ensure I was safe. was told not to worry. took one sip and was sick all night from an allergic reaction. spent hours throwing up. hasn't happened to me like that in 5 years. try to let them know, there's no accessible phone number, customer service doesn't respond to emails or voicemails. if you have any sensitivity to an ingredient I recommend staying away. some places handle this very well and some are just asleep at the wheel. in a protein heavy venue staff should be well equipped to advise what to have and not have very clearly since so much liability is involved. read more

I love this place! Whenever I'm having a bad day, juice somehow manages to lift my mood (maybe it's the vitamin boost). I really like Get Ur Green On, Hail to the Kale, Multi-V Squeeze, Mr Greengenes, Daily Detox, and Protein Buzz. They're all really good! The guys (and girl) who work here are always super nice. I'm a student, so it gets pretty expensive if I get juice on a daily basis. However, it's just so addictive! The only thing I did not like was the acai bowl. I was actually very impressed with this spot. Although the prices are a bit high compared to others I have seen around, they do have variety of things that I have not yet seen in NYC. I am from Los Angeles where Acai is now very popular and in New York that's not something you see as often, YET. However, this spot carries a variety of them.
