I had used an agency before I met Judy but I didn't like the fact that I am not able to deal with a regular person. I want to have a consistent communication and feedback, and I wanted someone who will dust well on every surface because my husband is allergic to dust. I found the rave review on Yelp and gave her a try. Judy showed up to do a free in-person estimate. She showed up on time to meet with me and my husband at our convenience and showed me that she would appreciate my business by bringing with her printouts of her services and extra business cards. She gave us an good estimate, asked us about our preferences, and we scheduled for her to come back for our first session. Two weeks later, she shows up right on time -- something I really appreciate because I often run on a schedule, and I like people who don't flake on me. I came back a little before she was done, and I find my home, every surface cleaned and gone over. I was so impressed with the details, I scheduled another appointment. okay, I just had Judy clean our house for the first time last night. Now, my wife and I both work, we've got four kids and plenty to do. Neither of us "enjoy" cleaning, so I really wanted to find someone who could clean the house really good so we could spend out Saturdays doing more enjoyable things to do. First - her cleaning is fantastic. Even my wife is impressed - and she is a tough customer for cleaning. I haven't seen my bathroom that clean since we moved in. The toaster oven looks brand new. I am disappointed. I originally gave 4 stars and was impressed by the proficiency and standard. But there has been damage and breakages. I've just noticed damage to the wood on my bed to due vigorous, but not gentle, vacuuming below the bed. I asked them to be gentle and not rush. But it was too no avail. Judy offers a service that probably meets the needs of most people but my requirements are not 'one size fits all.' Judy could have a great business customizing her service to clients' individual needs. I just want to be confident that whoever cleans my house is gentle and doesn't clean the blinds by thwacking them. Good cleaning practice doesn't have to be so noisy. Folding my toilet rolls into points and straightening shoes in my cupboard is not necessary. It's such a shame because I believe Judy tries hard, but there was just too much incidental damage in the cleaning process. read more

Let me start by saying they did excellent work. However: 1. They were 30 minutes late. 2. My place was really gross, but it was like a surprise to them even though Judy had been out a week before for the estimate. Trust me, my place wasn't any dirtier than the day she came out. Judy and her crew appeared hostile because of the work load. Jaysus, she came for an estimate. If it was too much to do, she simply should have turned me down as a client (Okay, I realize I'm beating a dead horse...). 3. Not dog friendly. Judy did a great job on my small Oakland home. She was professional, punctual, and man did she do a great job of cleaning. I think that the best cleaners not only are good at cleaning, but intelligently doing a little organizing too. Nothing too radical like rearranging your wardrobe, but simply putting like stuff with like, so when you get home things are not just clean but tidy. Judy really excelled at this. My clean-freq girlfriend was so psyched at the whole sparking situation that she shucked trow and hopped right in the newly gleaming bathtub, now, how much is that worth?? I called them to set up a services last week based on the reviews on yelp! This guy name Miguel answered the phone and I asked for move in cleanning rate and the dates they r ava. I was told that they DO NOT WORK ON WEEKENDS and WAS BOOKED 2 WEEKS in advance so they couls not do anything for me! We used Judy and her team twice a month to clean our home, and they were amazing. I have tried 5 different cleaning companies, and this is by far the best. They understand details, and are extremely industrious. They even removed toddler booster seats and scrubbed underneath without prompting. I think it sucks that Judy's rating has gone down, due to a few one star reviews from people who never even experienced her cleaning service. I never had any problems getting called back by them -- in fact, every night before a cleaning, they called without fail to confirm. We also hired them when we needed to do a move-out cleaning, and they left the place in better shape than when we moved in. 5 stars for a quality clean and pricing. 1 star for consistency and customer service. I was thrilled with Miguel and his crew for the first month or so of housecleaning, and set up regular visits every 2 weeks with them which continued for about 2-3 months. Then one week, I had an emergency the morning they were coming over and was not home to let them in when they showed up. I called them when I got home, feeling bad, with every intention of rescheduling and paying for the missed visit...left a message, but never got a call back. I tried another time a few days later, no call back. The phone number is the only number they have and it is NEVER answered by a human. I was bit miffed about not being able to get a call back for a reschedule, and my house was extra dirty, but I figured I'd see them the next time they were scheduled to come (in 2 weeks) as there had been no communication about changing anything. I was looking forward to the great cleaning my house would get. The next regular scheduled visit came and went...NO SHOW. That's when I started getting pissed. 3 more calls went unanswered and unreturned, and I never heard from them again. Now I am looking for a new housecleaner. Who cares what a great job they do if they cant be bothered to show up on a consistent basis? read more

We've been using Judy's Housecleaning for years now and it's high time I wrote a review. We found them on Yelp because of all the good reviews (Yelp rocks!). They've done a good job for us both at our old place and our new bigger place. Judy and her husband Miguel are both sweethearts and and that goes for everyone they hire on their crew. Some of the crew speak no English but Judy and Miguel both speak it perfectly well and one of them is always present, so communication is no problem. They do a thorough, careful job. My wife and I both have allergies and having the place kept clean and dust free makes a huge difference to us. There's never any dust even in odd corners or under the sofa. They are also scrupulously honest. Sometimes I've found neat little stacks of coins that they found in the sofa or scattered on my desk. They take good care of our house. Any time we give special instructions they are followed to the letter. One of these times, I've got to remember to show them where certain kitchen items go because if they don't know, they'll guess and sometimes we have to look for things. But I know if we show them where something goes, they remember. Just like I wrote about Carlton, our handyman (see my review of Preferred Home Maintenance), Judy and Miguel have a soft, kind energy which is a pleasure to have in our house. And I know I'm not the only one to mention it but they fold the end of the toilet paper into a triangle, just like at a classy hotel. read more

I live in a house with 8 college students. Guys and Girls. Our house isn't unlivable, but it is messy, and we rarely sweep and never mop. So we gave Judy's a call. We LOVE them! The service was more thorough than anything we could have asked for. In fact, I didn't ask for most of the things they did like- do my dishes, clean on top of the fridge and the microwave, and move all large items out of the way to get to all the hidden spots and crevices. I just thought they'd clean around our junk! Not Judy's! They clean and man they do it WELL! Call Judy's. They are awesome. Also they're the cheapest I found in Berkeley. They do such a good job for the price I was happy and able to give a 20% tip. All these other cleaning corporations charge way too much for a college budget. Although there are a couple of bad reviews for Judy's Houscleaning--please ignore them. Miguel is the nicest man you'll ever meet: punctual, hard working and reliable. This was a moving-out job. My house was FILTHY! I was so embarrassed.....I have been in grad school for the last two years so cleaning the house was at the bottom of my list. Miguel came with a sweet, hard-working lady and her 3-year-old girl, who kept herself busy the whole time. My daughter should learn from this little girl how to keep herself busy without bothering mom. Sorry, this is a whole different topic! They cleaned for over 4 hours!!! The house has only 2 bedrooms.......They asked for $150.......All the other quotes I got were anywhere between $200-250. I gave them a $30 tip. Well deserved!. We moved to a bigger house and I am definitely keeping their number. Unfortunately, we cannot afford someone to clean our house every week, but once a month is definitely affordable.
