I have been coming here for about 6 months now for eyebrow threading. My first visit was after two…read moreyears of allowing my brows to grow out and never being threaded (only waxed), so I was nervous; however, my esthetician made me feel comfortable and talked to me throughout each step of the process. I really appreciated how she took her time to go over each part in detail and show me in the mirror what she was doing. She also evened out my brows since one had started growing higher than the other, making them look uneven! Since that first visit, I come by every 4-5 weeks for maintenance on my brows. It's generally a quick visit, maybe 15-20 minutes, and I leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. The salon itself is very nice. The space where they perform the brow/lash services always smells good and it's a relaxing ambience, very quiet and with soothing textures (cozy blankets for where you put your feet) and colors. Coming here each month or so always feels like a little treat to myself.

This update is based on an experience I had more than 6 months ago. I was quite emotional at the…read moretime and purposefully waited this long to ensure I'd be putting this information "out there" in a more level headed state. I recognize that what follows has nothing to do with the quality of nail services provided and, as such, have chosen to leave my original 5 star rating (despite a piece of me admittedly wanting to drop it down). As I indicated in my original review, I was a loyal and repeated customer at this salon. My mother knew this and gave me two gift certificates during the 2018 holiday season. On March 12, 2019, a significant apartment building fire (within eyesight of the salon) resulted in the loss of many people's homes, including my own. When let back into the condemned building, I was able to locate one of the two certificates. It was wet and smelled awful, but I found it!! With the collapsed ceilings and disastrous mess of the place, I never managed to find the other certificate. Many businesses in Bronxville and the surrounding area were incredibly generous - offering discounts, donations, and even free meals, to those of us who lost our homes so suddenly. The community really came together and I was -- and still am-- incredibly grateful for all the kindness shown to us during that time. During the stressful aftermath of the fire, I decided to return to the salon. I no longer owned basic things including nail clippers and a nail file, so I figured a trip to the salon would help me feel a little less "homeless". Plus, gift certificates meant I wouldn't have to spend more money at a time when life expenses went through the roof (pun not intended). While the salon accepted my disgusting certificate that reaked of the fire it survived, they would not honor the missing $20 certificate. At a time when other businesses were doing what they could to help, this one business wouldn't provide a service that they had already been paid for. I recognize other nail salons may operate the same way and be just as poor of neighbors as this one. But one thing's for sure: I will never return to this salon. Bad business practice to be a bad neighbor.

They have four chairs where some services are performed and a couple of folding chairs as the waiting area right behind it. I arrived 20 minutes early to my appointment (because I suck at estimating travel times) and the waxer wasn't in yet so I had to wait until my appointment time so make sure to come at your scheduled time! While I was waiting the salon owner had a very nice conversation with me about the business and about herself. I really enjoy when business owners are friendly and strike up conversation. When the waxer came I was taken into the private back room for my wax. They used chocolate wax, yes chocolate, for my wax!!! The waxer has over 20 years experience and she has many other salons in NYC and the BX. They take the wax and put it into a little condiment looking cup and onto a different warmer so there is NEVER DOUBLE DIPPING. She also used a cloth paper thing to rip off the wax rather than using her hand to pull off the wax- something I've never experienced but I think it was less painful that way. She was very detailed and made sure to get every single hair while keeping me comfortable 100% of the time.
