I got the tacos governador, they're shrimp tacos with grilled onions, bell peppers, and cheese. They were amazing. The shrimp was so fresh, plump, and perfectly grilled. The onions and peppers still had a little crunch to them, so all the textures worked beautifully together. I took my food to go and rated a 5/5, but I'm sure it would have been even better if I ate it immediately there if that's even possible. It also came with this special sauce, but it didn't really need it. They were amazing as is. I did like dipping my chips in the sauce. I also loved the chips and salsa. They're the thicker cut chips and can hold a lot. The salsa was fresh and no heat to it, but you could taste the peppers. The employees were very nice and helped me because I came in thinking I knew exactly what I wanted lol but completely forgot the name. It seems like a local restaurant because the employees were very friendly with all the customers there, and seemed like they knew everyone. If I have time before I leave, I'll definitely come back! Half of our party were seated when I arrived next to the bar. It was nearly packed just in time for dinner. Staff was busy attending to other tables but gave us great service once everyone got seated. First off, I decided to order a pomegranate margarita to start off the evening (their smaller glass). I forgot all the ingredients that were included, but the drink was really good. It was a bit strong for me (I'm more of a craft beer drinker), but everything was mixed very well. I was a bit tipsy for a moment since I was a bit hungry but nothing where I was out of control. For my main entree, which helped get me stabilized after drinking, I chose their Burrito San Jose, which was grilled chicken, chorizo, rice and beans topped with cheese dip and pico de gallo. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Each ingredient definitely came together. Well, there you have it. A nice return here where I enjoyed myself. Lastly, we ordered a beer promoted on a tabletop card as a $3 special. When the bill arrived, we were charged full price and told the deal was only for Cinco de Mayo--even though it's now June 3rd. Management needs to update their table promotions so customers aren't misled. This level of service ultimately falls on management for not properly training their staff. I work hard for my money and expect attentive service, so I won't be returning.

Also, it took a regular amount of time to get our meals. It's not fast food, it seems like they make everything to order. So just eat your chips and salsa while you patiently wait for them to cook, and all should be great! :)

There are a few factors why I gave Guapo's 4 out of 5. For starters, our table wasn't completely clean. Even if the place isn't full, you have to have decor spotless no matter what. Extensive menu of typical Americanized "Mexican" favorites - fajitas, tacos, burritos, enchiladas, rice and beans in a gazillion combinations. Priced reasonably, serving staff is generally Spanish speaking/bilingual, with consistently good service. There is a bar for that crowd as well. Great parking and access. We were immediately greeted by the staff and seated promptly. It wasn't packed but presented a cool vibe nonetheless. After a few minutes looking over the menu, we were both ready to order. My selection for lunch was quesabirria with consome as a dipper. When it arrived, it was actually birria tacos. I did ask the server about it, but he said it's quesabirria. Kind of confusing, but I'm sure it's tacos. Nonetheless, the meal had me full. The birria was well cooked and seasoned with other ingredients. A little messy, but it was all fine. And the consome was so good I actually sipped the rest after I was done. Even with the selection situation, I was satisfied with the meal for the afternoon.
