I'll never get sick of eating here. I get the same items way too much instead of trying new items, but when you love something you find, what do you do! The service here has always been pretty good - sometimes they are slow. Takeout service is the same - sometimes they are great, sometimes they are terrible. There are two sides to be seated - a lounge and a regular dining area. The comfy lounge seats are fun to sit at, but make it really hard to eat. The dining area is meh for atmosphere. Everything I've had here - the basic rolls, nigiri, Omakase, specialty rolls (esp the Sunshine roll!) the starters - it's all good!! The Tokyo Tower is also one of my favs. The Playboy roll is a fun experience and super delicious, too. The location is inconvenient for most GR people, but it is worth the drive, I promise. read more

This was the first place nearly ten years ago I finally got my beautiful wife to come here and try sushi and although she was very tentative I can happily announce the countless sushi adventures we've gone on since, so it was delightful to be able to sit down and have a lovely date night dinner with her here once again. We lucked out and got to dine essentially by ourselves in the secondary dining area and our waitress was super kind and friendly. Ambiance might be the peak of this place. I went in for Ramen during lunch and everything from the Ginger salad to the shrimp tempura was uninspiring. The ramen broth was the most bland soup I've ever eaten and the jammy egg was so over-boiled it was grey. Sadly my service experience was not great either. Extremely slow service. Wait staff disappears to a back room out of sight. Had to find our server three times to get another round of drinks, order more sushi and get the check. I went with a friend for the first time a couple weeks ago and I was stunned. The staff was incredibly sweet and patient, and the food was divine! I ordered the seamonster roll, which was great! Our server (I can't remember her name but I wish I could because she was a delight) was extremely patient and allowed my friend and I to browse the menu and catch up with one another. She also checked up on us several times throughout the night as well and made the whole experience really pleasant overall. The serene and intimate atmosphere of Ju sushi was a plus as well! It's been awhile since we've ventured here but it's worth the trip. The rolls are so delicious and every bite you get a mix of tasty flavor, you can taste all the ingredients! We got the playboy which is a must each trip (they put it on fire when they serve it!) and tried the Crunch munch 2 and high roller. Some of the best sushi honestly and it's such a relaxing and classy place it's impossible not to enjoy yourself and unwind. Definitely a great spot for more intimate setting and a place you can share great conversation. My only suggestion is don't go with a big appetite or you'll swallow up the rolls and need more to fill up (highly suggest the noodles or one of the apps). Speciality rolls run $15-$18 for most. Beyond the bar, their fish quality is pretty amazing, and their prices are even better. Maru is pretty comparable but it's lacking the bar element and the casual attire element. We called for reservations and was given the option of table or lounge. Out of sheer curiosity we chose lounge and it was a nice couch right near the fire place. Going for drinks with a group then the lounge is a nice change from tables. The service was amazing from beginning to end. Our waitress was extremely happy and smiling every time she helped us. Our appetizer was perfectly made, the sushi was perfectly made and the flavors amazing. This will be our new go to spot. If you haven't been then you should go. Can't wait to go back. $88 dollar lunch for 2 people? Really? This was my second visit. First visit was better. Inconsistency is a killer. Bacon wrap Shrimp appetizer - Awful. Gelatinous uncooked bacon inside battered shrimp with a tasteless dipping sauce. Ugh. Lunch 1.) The Chicken Teriyaki with fried rice was good. Stir fried veggie side - nicely cooked and seasoned. Lunch 2.) Selected option of 3 for $25 (2 for $17 also available). Spicy Tuna roll + Spicy Salmon Roll + Tuna with avocado roll. Tuna with the avocado was far from fresh, very dry dark purple tuna ( I know my tuna). Spicy Salmon was tasteless, NOT spicy and very poor presentation. Spicy Tuna roll was absent entirely. Probably best after all. The facility is in need of thorough cleaning in public areas. That includes the restrooms which were sticky when walked on. Carpeted areas looked like they had not seen even a vacuum is a long time. Ju Sushi is a great locations and has good ambience bones. It's really too bad they are squandering it. read more

Ju was always my favorite and go to sushi place in GR. Ambiance, great food, and service made it our go-to even thought it was way on the other side of town from us. We came here on Saturday at 4pm - we were the only guests there when we walked in. It almost looked like they were closed it was so dark around the bar. The hostesses told us we could take a seat at the bar so we picked a seat near the TV so we could watch the MSU game. It was a good 5+ minutes before anyone acknowledge we were there, so we felt super awkward. There wasn't anyone behind the bar yet, so it wasn't like we were being ignored.. just that there was no one in sight. When the bartender appeared we asked about the TV - she informed us that they only had youtube channel, so that was a bust. She was quick with our drinks and food came out quickly, too. Calamari salad was good - nice portion size for us both to share. House salad was huge and the dressing was SO good! They changed their recipe and its delicious. Dynamite Roll - just meh. Menu said it was supposed to be very spicy - would not say that at all. Also, it was very basic looking. Nothing fancy about it. Spicy Cali & Spicy Tuna - standard. Sashimi A - everything was fine except for one of the fish was so muddy tasting.. it was pretty much inedible. I almost spit out the last piece and probably should not have eaten it. By the time we left at 530 there may have been 2 more parties there.. but not much. For a Saturday it was dead. This is always a little alarming, especially for a sushi place where you want there to be quick turnover of all their fresh fish. For me, Ju has gone down hill as far as quality and ambiance. This is my go to sushi place! They have a great menu and fantastic lunch specials! I've ordered delivery from them and it's still top notch. Their dining room has this really special ambiance to it. You walk in and automatically feel fancy. I've sat at the bar, lounge seats, sushi area and the normal tables. All have been great experiences. Ju used to be our favorite sushi place. Went there at 7:30 on a Wednesday night recently. There were only 3 tables occupied in the restaurant. Hostess was talking on her phone and didn't even acknowledge us as we stood right in front of her. There were 4 staff behind the sushi bar, all just standing there doing nothing. They all saw us, but no one said hello or someone will be with you soon. Stood there for a full 3 minutes while hostess continued to chat on her phone. Then we walked out. Ju is a longtime favorite. the playboy roll is a must have. warm and gooey goodness, we order it every time. I love to start off with an order of edamame. I usually order tuna sushi, or, spicy tuna. always yummy. daughter orders philly and sometimes California. we are never disappointed. if we haven't overstuffed ourselves, desert is yummy as well. we have had the chocolate cake. atmosphere is good here - not quite "fine dining" but, not diner either. will definitely be back. read more

Ju is one of the classiest sushi places in town, with a real lounge area with couches and coffee tables. The vibe is kind of upscale-big city but it doesn't translate well to eating sushi - I have eaten on the lounge side and it's just kind of awkward with the low table trying to eat sushi. It does have a romantic feel if you're looking for a date night place. I stopped in to Ju the other day for lunch - they have great lunch specials! You can pick 2 items for $9 or 3 for $12 from a list of selections. They also have standard roll combos for $11-$15. I chose Roll Combo B because it comes with one of my all-time favorite rolls, Crunch Munch. It also has a spicy tuna roll and comes with a side salad. The Crunch Munch roll was amazing as usual, but this time, the spicy tuna was not fresh, unfortunately. It was also cut pretty sloppily. I was a bit disappointed, but you can't really beat the price (the crunch munch roll is usually $13 by itself). read more

After striking out at another restaurant that had an hour long wait time, we ended up at Ju Sushi because it was close by and convenient. They seated us immediately, and the dining area was super empty for a Saturday evening. The restaurant had an interesting modern lounge vibe and comfortable lighting. Once seated, we were happy to find out that it was happy hour so wine and cocktails were half off. Our awesome waitress, Bethany, suggested the Geisha- gin, pear vodka, rosemary simple, ginger, and lemon. The drink was amazing and delicious. My fiancé also enjoyed the Smoking Gun, a whiskey based cocktail. We started our meal with crab rangoon, my favorite. This crab rangoon was served with a sweet and spicy sauce, which was good but not necessary. The crab rangoon was absolutely phenomenal, with the lightest and fluffiest texture. The dough was not chewy at all, but rather you could bite right through it like butter. For our entrees, we ordered the Playboy roll and the Tokyo Tower. Our food came out super fast, which was a nice surpri The Playboy roll was really good. I especially enjoyed the smoky flavor. The Tokyo Tower was unlike anything I've had before (in a good way). The tower is basically rice layered with fish served with greens mixed with calamari and seaweed salad, topped with spicy mayo and other deliciousness. I would highly recommend trying to Tokyo Tower for sure. The flavors just mixed together perfectly, and it was SO MUCH FOOD. We came with big appetites and still didn't even come close to finishing everything. Overall, my opinion is that Ju Sushi is definitely worth a try if you're a sushi fan. We are avid sushi lovers, but this dining experience was totally out of the box for us and unlike anything we've tried before.
