I was just visiting Redding (my sis lives there), and I needed to help her with smogging the car. No problem, I thought, and then I saw the reviews. OMG. Where am I going to go? If you are looking and reading, you know what I am talking about! Because my DMV notice required a Star station, my choices were even more limited. So, since it was all bad, all the way around, and I needed to also buy a part from the Advanced Concepts computer store on Bechelli, I decided to try the smog shop right across the street from the Advanced Concepts, reviews be damned. And what do you know? I have found and am happy to report to you here, that at least the bad reviews about this particular smog shop are not true. Or, maybe they have changed things around? Not sure, but I had a great experience. The check in lady asked me what I want, I said a smog, showed her the paper, told her my monitors are all green, and she told me to wait my turn. There were one lady and one gentleman ahead of me. So, I gave her the keys and went to the Advanced Concepts (btw, need to write a review for them as they are nice guys). When I came back from the computer store, my car was just being pulled in. I paid attention to the entire process (because I was spooked by the bad reviews). The technician was very careful with my car, gentle even, I did not see him doing anything wrong at all. Only the things he was supposed to do, and the way he was supposed to perform them. Zero issues. And the check in lady, as I mentioned above, was super sweet too. The whole shop was efficient, my wait wasn't long, I passed, I paid exactly as advertised, so, in short, none of the bad thing from the reviews happened to me. I don't think I was treated in any more special way than the folks immediately before or after me. Nice, quick, pleasant experience. Done and done. So, I decided to write this review, because it is not fair when good people are blamed for things that are just not true. My experience at this Bechelli location was perfect. You be the judge. My guess is there is nothing wrong with this shop. Ah yes, there is this another thing. My sis car was previously failed by the shop not to far from this A-1 shop. I don' want to name them, because maybe this was just a fluke. But it ruined her day. So, she called me to help her, and I came and fixed the issue, and passed the car. But, I just want to say, you don't fail the car for a monitor not being ready (green), ok? You just don't do that. You don't charge the customer the full smog check price for simply connecting your ODBII scanner (something the AutoZone gladly does for free), seeing that it is not ready for smog yet, and then telling the girl the B.S. about "some hoses that don't look right". Oh and they don't give you a free retest, (I called and asked) I guess that would be a loss. So, I made the car ready, and then chose a different shop, and I am VERY happy with my choice of the shop.

Also my intake is carb compliant, my truck is technically a one year truck since it switched from a dodge to a ram in 2011 your paperwork is not correct. Had to bring the car back twice to get an accurate diagnosis on the problem with my car. Although I had an appointment when I brought it in to have it repaired, I was told there's a chance they might not get to it that day. (It wasn't an urgent issue...why make an appointment if your schedule is full??) When I picked up my car after hours, the lockbox where my key was stored was left unlocked, and my car was also unlocked. And finally, after having my bakes serviced, the lug nut key was missing...requiring another trip back to the shop to pick it up. Overall, a frustrating experience.

Told them I would not be doing that and when I got my car back there was no cap on my coolant reservoir. Luckily I caught it quickly and went and immediately bought another one. Had them reimburse me for the cap but it was a shitty aftermarket cap and the functional original cap I've had to do without. Not to mention having to once again buy coolant. My engine block would have been toast had I not caught it as quick as I did. Could have been an honest mistake but also would have guaranteed I needed a new engine. Had never had an issue before but won't risk going back. Changed the head gasket myself for $800 after buying tools and parts.

We had the car towed on Sunday night and brought it to Perry's after my nephew researched their website. On Monday we were there at 8am and to our surprise there was a line of people already in the office. We figured we had no chance but the fact that they were super busy was a good sign. Amy took care of us and said they were super busy but would get someone to do a quick diagnosis. Jeremy, the Manager, stopped everything he was doing and provided us with a quick diagnosis and our options. The car had not been serviced in a while And it needed a new transmission. Expensive but the fact that Jeremy took immediate care of our needs and provided options plus we felt so comfortable with the way he handled it. The rest of the staff were very friendly and super helpful. It's a bummer that our car broke down but I am thankful for repair shops like Perry's who are honest and handle their business with integrity and care for the people that get stranded in the middle of no where while traveling on vacation. Other customer reviews showed comprehensive courtesy inspections were included as well as an extensive courtesy brake and Tire inspections. I was charged to diagnose a rattle in my brakes. Not only did they diagnose the rattle wrong but when I asked to correct it..It is now still not fixed.. instead, they bent the clips out to build more tension and put spray glue on the calipers to hold them down. I live an hour from town so I got to take 3.5 hours out of my life to have it still not fixed or even diagnosed properly. Wish I could charge them back at an hourly rate. The receptionist tells me they charge multiple diagnostic fees because She can't be having Her guys do work for free. But She apparently doesn't mind having Her customers drive back-and-forth on their own dimes. Awesome. I would pay overly inflated prices if I felt like things were getting done properly. Issac was my mechanic and he did what he could. Very nice guy who I really appreciate. Thank you Issac. But this shops got some issues. Not the mechanics fault. The original estimate link said that the brake stuff would be included in the courtesy brake and tire inspection.. zero dollars. (Take screen shots. I forgot) They found that the rattle clip was bent outward instead of tucked in like they should be on both front tires. So basically they had to bend the clip back in and that cost me 130. They're still rattling. Much better but still it's a band-aide not a fix. Supposedly they checked the back brakes, but one of them is squealing pretty severely and has a stuck Caliper.. completely missed that. When I asked if they looked at them they said, I'm sure I did.. no memory of it and no record of it. The comprehensive inspection also said zero dollars in the original link. 180+ to diagnose the clutch issues. Clutch replacement price was 1400 to 2200. I thought 'that's realistic I can cover that no problem.' Even if the insurance won't cover it. That's a standard price and why the system auto populated as such. After Statefarm got involved I reopened that quote link, completely different price. $3500 plus..more than the Subaru dealership. When I hit them up about it they acted like they didn't know I was was talking about. But I would not have pulled a price 1400 to 2200, out of my ass. I know I saw that. They know that their software auto populates before they change it. I figured that, so I looked it up and that is definitely the case. They went ahead and blatantly admitted to marking up their parts over 68% and mentioned that they added another hour plus to the estimate for labor. If you buy parts online from the dealership that's 105% mark up. Seriously what?? $765 vs over $1600+. I get marks ups, but this over the top. Naturally, the labor rate is not listed on their itemized bill and estimate or website. I will include for you the difference between the actual oem prices versus what they were going to charge. And evidence of free diagnostic and brake inspections done for other customers. Also what ai said about the collision I don't know why, but they insisted that this had nothing to do with the accident. I hit a huge bear, it crumpled the entire right side of my car. It does seem like it's related. The clutch wasn't slipping or going out prior, it's a very young clutch for a Subaru Impreza, and it started directly after the accident. It's a short rubber squeal upon take off. The clutch is still actually working fine. I asked them if they could rewrite the quote saying that this is consistent w an impact only because I have researched it quite a bit and that does seem to be the case. And possibly add that mechanically, the clutch is still sound and operational. They literally told me there is no way that it is related and that I am trying to commit insurance fraud. Are u kidding me?? Guess I shouldn't have bitched that my tires were over inflated. Save yourself the time and hassle.
