Absolutely avoid this place at all costs. They are not only the most expensive place to get a smog, they will also do everything they can to find a fault and fail you. My car passed the smog inspection and the owner fails me due to not being able to read the serial number on my catalytic converter on a 1998 Jeep. There is NO requirement for him to do this yet he insisted unless he can see the serial number and make sure its compatible for California, he refused to honor the "pass" test results. They then charged me $61.75 for a FAIL and handed me the test results that showed "PASS" and no certificate. I then drove down the road to A1 smog on Market Street in Redding and they passed me in 35 minutes and charged me $46.25 for the smog and $8.25 for the certificate. $15.50 cheaper. I cannot recommend this place at all and if they had any decency, they would have waived the charges after wasting an hour of my time and acting irresponsibly. Again, there is NO requirement for any smog station to confirm your catalytic converter is California approved. This is was the owners own doing and unnecessary. Do not go here and do go to A1 Smog instead. See attached pictures that validates this review read more

No one asked if any repairs had been done. Just took it right in. After waiting 30 mins he tells me it failed because the monitor wasn't reset yet. Full price and pay twice after I drive it longer? No thanks. They charge the same price to check first then you pay again for the smog. Going somewhere else for sure. read more

He dont check if the car is ready for Inspection first. How does a customer know if it's ready to check even after driving it 100 + it still may not be ready. He charges $$full price$$ without checking first. Very bad as a smog tech. That's not what they teach! Takes very few minutes to check first. Not a friendly tech. I cannot thank this smog center enough for staying open and getting my California car smog checked. During thanksgiving weekend I drive from Portland to Northern California just to get my car smog. Went in and didn't have decal on my cold air intake. They smogged it anyway knowing it would be failed without decal,told me to come back when I got it and then be charged again. I went to JT's on a recommendation from a friend. When I called, a man answered that had the nicest phone voice and he was so sweet. I got my appt. for the day I asked for. When I got there, they got me right in and I was out in no time at all. The man and woman that took care of me were just as sweet as my experience on the phone. Checked around on a Saturday to get my car smogged. I didn't realize they weren't open on the weekends. I work long hours during the week and haven't been able to get it done. I found JT's ( on Yelp) and hurray! they were open! She set a time for 1:00. I was there at 12:58 and was back in my car at 1:14. Yup. That fast. The woman I spoke with was professional and friendly. We chatted about the awful pollen and cleaning it out of her boat and my convertible (mess). About the issue of no smog shops open on weekends. This place is a joke. Truck failed smog due to battery being disconnected. Was told to drive it and bring it back and they would do it at discounted rate. Came back 5 days later and was told I had to pay full price again. Rip off will never go here again. read more

I'd say about 2 weeks ago I go into get my truck smogged paid my $36 to fail .... then this guy JT tell me my exhust pipes and my catalytic converter are rusted differently and that cat is used and I cannot use a used cat so I went checked out how much one was lets just say way to much and I think this guy was hoping I'd have him install a new one so he could make a quick buck off me so after I left I made an appt at the local referee station I had no issues passed with flying so with that I say JT SMOG SUCKS read more

Fast service but not good, I didn't know the car could fail if the battery had been dead! Yet the lady didn't ask me when I got there if it had been dead or anything like that, until after and then said ya just drive a few hundred miles and we will check it before I test it again, but then when I went to come back she was saying she had to charge me for another smog fee just to do that! Which is fine if before hand she made it sound like she would work with me and they charge $25 just for state certificate. I went to A-1 smog first thing the girl asks me if my battery has been dead or check engine light is on, also it came out total with the certificate of what just Jt's cost just for the smog! So I had to pay for a smog for no reason because she didn't ask that one thing that another place asks regularly read more

Be careful about this place, they'll take the fee and not offer re-check if you don't pass. Own my vehicle 23 years, passed all smog checks as it did this time, but they reported the error message popped up, these messages can be purged by either disconnecting the battery or clearing with tech equipment. Said my check engine bulb was out but it was not being fed a signal. They wanted $190 to "check out" the error codes, another $45 for replacing the bulb. They didn't provide a list of codes that were showing. Went down the street and bit to another shop, it passed after the tech cleared the computer (no charge) and pop'd in new bulb for 5$. JT's is just one of those services who don't care about overcharging or if you return. read more

i came from another state....took my truck in....they told me my cat converter did not have a number on it....so my truck failed by a visual inspection..so i come home and look the number is on the top.....said his friend did cats on trucks cheep....ill bet he does....bad biss ther people.....im 63 years old ...so i took it right over to another shop ,,told them what these people said..they checked my truck and passed it.......my advice...find a better place...to do your car...this shop is under handed and full of it read more

Long story short, I didn't pay attention to my DMV paperwork stating I needed a smog this year, I only have 2 days till my reg. is due and needed to get it done on Wednesday so I could make it back to DMV on Thursday morning before work. Everywhere I called said they were booked EXCEPT JT's Smog. They told me to be there at 9:30 the next morning and they would squeeze me in. I arrived at 9:30 and was on my way to work at 9:45...15 mins was all it took. FAST, FRIENDLY, and VERY ACCOMMODATING. If I could give them 10 stars I would. Thank you JT's auto for saving the day!!!
