This is the only smog shop that I'll go to. It's test only station giving me the freedom to take my car where I want if a repair is needed. Retesting didn't cost me anything. Theu are very helpful and want your car to pass. Once time I needed a gas cap and they gave me a new one at no charge. Replaced the battery and took it to this place to get smogged. He didn't plug it up to make sure it was ready to be smogged like other places would do for first and for free. Instead he tried to smog first and then check the computer data so he could charge me. Then when I drove the car more to make sure it was ready I called to reschedule and he said his smog system was down and that it looks like it's a Northern CA issue and he would call me as soon as it's back on. I called 3 other places same day and everyone else was up and running just fine. Then I call back to reschedule a couple days later and he is completely full that day and wouldn't check my car when I needed to sell it the same day and he never called me when it was back on. So I called Rochas Auto Service and they took the time for me immediately while being busy. Go to Rochas! read more

My car, which had been formerly registered in an enhanced-smog-test area of the state, was flagged once again to go to a test-only center. Due to bad luck and uncommon circumstances surround my address change with the DMV, I had to find a test-only center after I moved to the north state. Sure, you can practically find a test-only center by walking 500 feet in any direction in a metropolitan area of California, but this shop in Palo Cedro is apparently THE only test-only shop in all of Shasta or Tehama counties. Keeping in mind that smog tests at this shop are on an appointment basis, make sure to call ahead. You may have to call several times. Buzz helped clear up my questions about my oddball situation surrounding my smog-check. My car was smogged in an expedient manner for a fair total price of $40, including the electronic DMV certificate. This shop is located a few hundred feet from I-44, in case you're worried about keeping your car's cats nice and warm. read more

Buzz the owner is a one man shop... however, he is fast and efficient in doing the smog tests and his pricing is competitive. He is a TEST shop only, but he has been an auto technician for years and he can/will provide recommendations for you if your vehicle needs repairs to pass the smog test. He cannot and will not do any repairs (by law) as he is a TEST center only... He takes/makes appointments to ensure that you are in and out quickly..... his shop is clean and neat.... small waiting area, however, there are three eating establishments close by... read more

Had horrible service at the location. The old guy that runs the shop is extremely rude to customers. I was shocked at how bad he treated the other customers that walked into the shop. It was convenient and quick - but I will not spend another dollar at that place. read more
