Last year, I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. During pregnancy, my hair was the longest, strongest, and shiniest it had ever been--without a drop of product. But once my son arrived and those magical pregnancy hormones dipped, so did my hair. It started falling out in clumps. I've never been super focused on looks, but watching my hair thin like that honestly made me feel a little down. These days, my mornings are a blur--I barely have time to brush my hair before throwing it up into a messy ballerina bun with a clip so my baby doesn't yank on it with his tiny hands. For my birthday, I got treated to a haircut at Jstyle Salon, and I had the owner himself, Jay, do the honors. He shared things I'd never even thought about--like how always parting my hair on the same side was creating imbalance and contributing to the thinning. I needed all the hair help I could get, and Jay absolutely delivered. He's not super chatty, but that's because he's laser-focused--whether he's washing your hair or making sure every snip is precise. Even with my postpartum hair, he managed to revive my outgrown bangs from the newborn days and breathe life into my limp, tired strands. I highly recommend Jstyle Salon--whether it's your usual self-care trim or a much-needed confidence boost. If you're on the west side, they're conveniently located in Waipahu, so you'll save on gas, support a local business, and walk out looking like your next Instagram profile pic is just a selfie away. ** NOTE: I'll add the picture once I find it. My photo albums are filled with my baby. read more

Love the vibe of this salon, customer service was great. Everyone was very friendly & got the type of hair style I needed

Small but quaint salon. Located in Waipahu, right behind Times Supermarket, and on the same strip as the Waipahu Transit. I started coming here, since one of my good friends decided to rent out a chair at this Salon. The shop has 4 chairs, 2 hair wash stations, a bathroom, and one sofa. The shop itself is really nice and clean, however, it seems a bit to squished for my liking. On the plus side, I believe this place is only reservations only through the barber that are renting out chairs. You will never know if it will be too crowded, or empty, it really depends on when the barbers have appointments. Most of the time I've been here I have never had a bad experience, however there was this one time where there was just 4 people and it was too loud, seemed like it was to small for the barbers to even move around. You don't want someone to "accidentally" bump a barber while theyre cutting hair right? LOL OOps! But I know my barber is bound to do a great job, no matter the crowd in there. I usually get my hair cut once every month, or 2 depends how lazy I am haha. Now for my barber.. Dessire is one of my good friends since high school, and I have always gone to her for all my hair problems! She takes appointments so please message me if you want to make an appointment with her, and I can let her know. She does all ages, and also does hair colors. Hope you get to come by sometime! read more

Terrible customer service. I would give it a 0 stars if I could. I just moved to the Waipahu area, and was looking for a new place to cut my hair since my old barber was in town. I read some reviews, did some research and came across J-Style in Waipahu. It looked like a good place with good barbers, so I went to check it out. Got to the shop around 1630 hours, it was packed so I waited outside until I was able to take a seat inside. It's not that big inside with about 4 chairs to cut hair and a couch and chair for customers. So, I'm sitting there in the customer chair just waiting til a barber is available. I was watching the barbers work, and it looked like they know what they're doing. I was excited to get my hair cut by someone new. As I'm sitting there, I watch customer after customer after customer come in and skip me and I'm thinking to myself "I'm sure I'm next, after this guy I'm next." Finally, at about 1815 hours (1.45 hours) of sitting there patiently, one of the barbers turns to me and asks me if I have an appointment. After almost 2 hours of sitting there, somebody finally acknowledges my presence! I tell him "No I don't, do I need one?" And he says, "yeah, sorry we're totally booked today." I'm like WTF? Not only did I just waste almost 2 hours of my life, I have to walk out this semi-crowded small business full of shame. Needless to say, I'm sure the barbers here are talented as I was witness to it first hand, I will never actually know because I will probably never come back here, as well as any of my family or friends. So, way to do business J-Style. read more

Best Hair Salon in Waipahu!! I am soo loving my new hairstyle thanks to Lily. Lily has been my go to hairstylist since intermediate days. Lol, I had her doing my scene hairstyles back in the day. She is such a kind and funny lady and very easy to talk to. I like that she takes the time to understand what I want my end results to look like. The color and cut is exactly what I wanted and I got it for a good price! XD She worked very hard on my wild hair and made sure I went home happy :D read more

JStyle Salon is hands down the best salon that I've been to. Very comfortable and soothing environment. I honestly would not mind waiting die to the fact that it's so comforting. Apart from his shop, did I mention his skill?! I've never had a hairline so straight in my life. Very nice haircut and he also washes your hair afterwards and makes sure you're set before you leave! He doesn't leave hair particles all over your body like other mediocre shops do. Jstyles is the place to go and I won't be going any where else. Thanks Jay! read more

Talented barbers and hairstylists! Didn't know this salon existed. Everyone is so nice, friendly and easy to get along with. The guy that did my hair took his time and made sure I was satisfied, I forgot his name lol, I think it was manny or something. These guys are up to date with the hairstyles, they execute sick and quality work. The salon is nice and very relaxing, i love their music, I could just fall asleep in there. Recommend giving this place a visit. read more

Small location but they pump out tons of customers daily. Especially with their highly sought after barbers dishing out faded designs at a very reasonable price. They don't rush you in and rush you out here, they take the time to make sure each line is symmetrical and the fade is even. I only allow my other half to have Jay Asuncion touch his hair, no more Supercuts for him. Jay is versatile when it comes to hair, not only does he do my bf's hair he does mine too! He layers, texturizes and highlights my hair perfectly everytime. And I don't have to pay the $300 Regis Salon price! I go wherever my hairstylist goes. Trendy little place located in Waipahu right behind Times Supermarket. Following Jay is a must because the quality of service he provides for the price always exceeds my expectations especially when I'm the type who likes to change my hair according to my mood. Specializing in both men and women Jay always makes me leave a satisfied customer! read more

Excellent barber shop to go get your hair nice and tight for men, women and kids. Been coming here for almost a year and I've been loving it. The barbers are EXCLUSIVE and AMAZING that's why they operate mainly through appointments only, which is a plus because it keeps the barber shop from looking like an over crowded waiting room and because of that, the vibe is more chill compared to the chaos and confusion that the other salons/barber shops have.....its pretty much a full service shop, you get your eyebrow fix, ladies get their hair done however they want, they'll finish the fellas off with the razor and lastly wash your hair. If you're a first timer, make that appointment! Jay, Manny and Des will never disappoint! read more

Known Jay for a longtime. Hardworking, only person I trust to cut my hair. He can do it all. Even hairstyles and colors for the ladies. Badass! read more
