Services have included exterior rebuilds, waterproofing, roofing, rooftop decking and plumbing adjustments to optimize drainage. Pederson Construction stands our for their quick work, accurate quotes and very fine attention to details. They hold themselves to high standards, and all of their work has exceeded our expectations. In the processes of waterproofing, roofing and re-decking our rooftop patio, they realized that the original location of the drain was not optimized. While we thought this would be a big, disruptive process to move the drain, Pederson construction brought together the necessary plumbing and drywall talent to quickly complete this adjustment with minimal disruption. There can always be unexpected issues with any construction project, but Pederson has repeatedly proven they can quickly and efficiently address issues to get the project done right. Our building suffered leaks that we attempted to patch up for years. But once Pederson did the job right, our building has remained waterproofed for over 5 years. Highly recommended.

We first hired him to remove our ugly old metal banister and design, create and install a new banister and it is absolutely beautiful. It is a perfect fit to our house and looks like it always should have been there. We were so happy with his craftsmanship that we hired him for another project. He built a bench seat for our breakfast nook. He took great care to make sure it matched perfectly with our kitchen cabinets. We also had him remove our picture windows from our kitchen eating area and install gorgeous La Cantina Doors that open to our deck. His work was flawless and we are really impressed with all the work he has done and the beautiful transformation he has made to our home in such a short time.

Todd and Romeo just completed work on my new, permitted, replace-in-kind garage. The…read moreprofessionalism and craftsmanship on display were astounding! Todd walked me through the entire process of rebuilding the garage. This includes letting me know about the pros and cons of doing work with a permit, providing a fair and rather accurate initial estimate, giving me choices about materials/amperage/fixtures/more, hiring an architect who was a pleasure to work with on his own, providing recommendations for garage cabinet vendors, and giving me regular updates via phone/text on his epic battles with the city to get the work approved. The construction itself was performed by Todd and Romeo (along with excellent work from cement, electrical, plumbing, and drywall subcontractors), and progress went by rather quickly - that is, until the city had another bureaucratic hiccup and dragged its feet in approving one step of the work, which halted construction and caused the last bit of work to drag on for a while as Todd had to split his time between another client. Can't really fault him for that, though. At the end of the day, the work was completed, the garage is amazing, and the whole project ended only slightly over the initial, rather affordable estimate, mostly because of additions I requested after the fact. I'm looking forward to working with Todd again on future building/remodeling projects!

With a baby on the way, we really needed to undergo a major remodel on our house in preparation for…read moreher arrival. We interviewed 6 different contractors and ultimately decided on Gavan Duffy of Build It Green Contractors (B.I.G.) (license#886570) I won't get into all of the details of our decision, only the key elements which were: 1. Budget, our project came in slightly over budget. Not due to B.I.G, but to a few changes we decided to make and the general nature of working on a house built in the 20s and all the little surprises we found along the way. The important aspect for us was Gavan's clear communication with us regarding our options and the costs associated with each choice. 2. Timing, Gavan has a young child and he understands all of the challenges and changes associated with being expectant parents. He and his crew worked hard to stay within our time frame and still give us plenty of time to get our house in order prior to the baby's arrival. 3. Quality, We could not be happier with the attention to detail that Gavan and crew put into our remodel. Our house is stunning and the work is craftsman-like. 4. Cleanliness, this may not be important to everyone, but construction is messy work and B.I.G. cleaned up after themselves after each day. To me this demonstrated the commitment to quality that Gavan and crew insist on. If you have a remodel scheduled, then I encourage you to discuss it with Gavan Duffy at B.I.G.

Gavan and Build It Green was not the first contractor that I contacted for my leak issue, but he…read morewas the first to promptly organize a time to scope the matter. My plan was to call several contractors, collect quotes and pick from the lowest price and/or best match. But, Gavan made it easy enough, and I trusted his assessment enough that I ended up going with him without much additional due diligence. The leak issue wasn't able to be fully diagnosed without removing the stucco on the outside and dry wall on the inside - so Gavan suggested starting there. He produced a small initial quote for labor - which would allow him to produce a more accurate total quote. From there, he provided an estimate that ended up being within 5% of the final cost. He had a wide ranging team working for him - most notably Omar, a very friendly and extremely capable contractor in his own right, as well as several others. He brought in specialists for the roofing and stucco work, as well. The only issue to raise was that scheduling was sometimes challenging - as Gavan is a pretty busy fellow and who was consistently coordinating so many other parties. Sometimes, schedules were shifted around - which did require some flexibility from my wife and I, but nothing too problematic. At the end of the day, he and his team were trustworthy, were all very polite and friendly, and produced very solid work and cleaned up nicely afterwards. I would recommend Gavan and Build It Green, and in fact - when another small project arose within weeks of the big project - I didn't hesitate to call Gavan again.

My wife and I hired Jon-Michael based on these Yelp reviews and we're happy we did. My only regret…read moreis that I didn't have him supervise and hire all the other subs we needed for the work on our new house. He actually cares about the quality of the work being done and will offer suggestions about how to make it look and work the best. Jon-Michael remodeled our entire bathroom, which involved removing a closet in an adjacent room and expanding the bathroom into it, moving the shower and toilet to the opposite side of the room, installing a pocket door and installing all the plumbing and tiling. He removed and patched our fireplace so you'd never know it was there. Supervised the refinish of the hardwood floors and removal of the old insulation. Hired the electricians, pulled the permits and supervised the upgrade of all the electrical in our house from knob and tube to 2009 code. In short there's really nothing he can't do and if he can't I'm sure he's got a Sub who will do a great job. I could go on for pages about what I appreciated about working with Jon-Michael but to keep it short I think what makes him so good is he sees each job as an opportunity to create a relationship with the customer and he goes out of his way to do whatever it takes to form that relationship. We couldn't be happier and in the future Jon-MIchael will be the first call we make if we need any work done on our house.

Green sequoia caused a disaster with my backyard. Sad part is that we had great experiences with…read morethem before and chose them because of that. If you are doing an outside project, don't pick green sequoia as this seems to be a trend (see Jonathan's review from July 2019). They kept demo'ing after finding an issue, making it worse, and then they left us hanging for a month until they were finally removed from the job. Overall, Green Sequoia did more harm than good on this. Not sure new management is working out. Full story: Green Sequoia previously did our bathroom and did a great job. Jessie and Victoria also did our closet. Love those two. We saw an opportunity to improve our backyard living space by removing unnecessary planters and retaining walls. We had two quotes and went with Green Sequoia, the more expensive one, because of the previous relationship. They didn't tell us that they didn't have exterior expertise and the person on the job wasn't a normal part of the crew but instead a subcontractor. When construction started, we knew there was a question if a retaining wall was supporting or redundant. As soon as the project started, removing a small part of that wall would have made it quickly clear it was supportive as the wall behind ended 8 inches from the top. That's when they should have stopped. They didn't. They dropped the whole wall and then only contacted me after. This caused increased cost and a safety risk for both me and my neighbor. The same occurred in another part of the property. Oversight of the subcontractor was clearly poor. Construction was halted a week after starting in early June because of these errors. Afterwards, Green Sequoia sat on it for a month without getting me change orders or a clear plan to fix it despite nearly daily questions and pings from me. I gave them an ultimatum on July 6th to have a plan by end of week or I would remove them from the job and seek a refund. Four days later they were off the job. No refund yet despite 5 follow up notes from me - but complaint filed with state license board. This project will cost me $20k more, with less improvements made, because of what it will take to repair their damages. The project was supposed to be 3 weeks. Currently it's looking like 3 months because I've had to remove Green Sequoia from the job and get a new contractor. Issues come up with old properties. When starting our plan I fully expected that there may be some small unexpected cost. My issue with Green Sequoia was the lack of oversight, the recklessness that caused increased damage, and the abandonment of the project. Two stars because through this disaster Kirk was still responsive. While I don't agree with their lack of ownership about their actions, I appreciate that communication lines stayed open and that he visited to do some bracing upon my request.

They did a horrible job- left rotting wood on the exterior, added new siding that is splitting and uneven. Going to have to get their garbage work done properly as soon as we can afford it. Such an insane waste of money.

Victor and his team completed a full remodel of our home, essentially taking it down to the studs…read more The project was completed in about nine months, which I felt was very reasonable, and overall, I was initially happy with the work. In fact, I was comfortable enough with the experience that I recommended Victor to friends and family. Unfortunately, about two years later, we began experiencing recurring mold on the baseboards in our master bathroom, along with water damage to the wall outside the shower. Victor was quick to come out and repair the wall and replace the baseboards, but the problem continued to come back. Eventually, we had another contractor inspect the bathroom, and we discovered that the entire master bathroom subfloor was wet, moldy, and damaged in multiple areas. I brought the inspection and video evidence to Victor, but I was disappointed by his response. Rather than taking responsibility for investigating the underlying issue, he suggested that we had punctured a pipe behind the shower, which was not the case. After further investigation, we learned that the shower waterproofing had been improperly installed. Holes had been drilled through the waterproofing membrane of the shower pan to secure it, allowing water to leak through and eventually cause significant damage to the subfloor. Fortunately, his insurance company came out and inspected as well and found it to be faulty installation, and reimbursed us for the cost of correcting the damage (over $20K). While I understand sometimes mistakes do happen, I found it very disheartening that he would not take responsibility for the damage which made the entire process of redoing the bathroom quite a headache.
