We bought a really beautiful, realistic 7-foot pre-lit tree in 2023. We immediately noticed that the top tier has less lighting than the other tiers. So, the top looks weirdly dark compared to the rest of the tree when lit up. We contacted them to see about a replacement. We were told that our model was sold out, but we should contact them in 2024 when they were stocked for Christmas again. We did contact them this past November and we were finally told after numerous phone calls that due to the number and length of branches in various tree sections their manufacturer isn't able to make the lights uniform throughout the whole tree. So, a replacement tree would look exactly the same. They suggested that we purchase our own separate set of regular tree lights for the top section, but they can't be connected to the original lights so we wouldn't be able to use the remote control and the fun light effects. We asked multiple times to return the tree for a refund, but they refused. It was suggested that WE should have noticed the faulty lighting on the floor model in the showroom...during the daytime...with the display trees parked side by side just inside floor to ceiling glass windows...backlit by the sun. Their website boasts that they have designed and manufactured their own trees for 30 years so they are fully aware of this lighting issue. California Backyard does have beautiful, realistic trees. We loved one of their large pre-lit trees for many years before we decided that a smaller tree was in order so that's why we checked them out again. If you decide to shop there for an $800 tree like we did I suggest you do so on a cloudy day so it's not too bright in the showroom. Really take the time to evaluate the lighting on the trees before taking one home. Buyer beware - once you buy that tree it is yours forever!

He quickly installed the replacement part and then took time to answer all of our questions and educate us about the functionality and maintenance care needed for our new spa. When our furniture was delivered the delivery team made quick work of delivering and setting up everything. They asked me my preferences and arranged the furniture exactly how I wanted it. We also ordered a pizza oven and we were not sure how we would get it over the unpaved path to the backyard. We thought we might need to hire a crane, but these guys figured out a way and they did a great job! Juan, Brad, and Jessie are assets to the California Backyard team, I appreciate that they were willing to go the extra mile to make my delivery go so smooth.

Well two days later, no phone call or notification the account was charged an additional $309.25. Questioning it we called and were given the run around about trailer rental and discounts. This doesn't sit well with me, after all we agreed on a price for the week and paid in full. We did not authorize the additional charge because we were unaware of it. They just decided let's make them pay a little more without even a phone call. Here we are today, we returned the equipment and were provided a receipt. There was a break down on the receipt with all the equipment rented totaling $949.62 (the agreed upon amount. Then there was a flat charge for the $309.25, yep you guessed it, no break down, nothing about trailer discounts or equipment rented, no explanation at all just a charge. With some argument they refunded part of the charge (not all) because they said the manager was out sick. Long story short, I do not recommend Rental Guys, they will just charge you more without a written break down or real explanation of why. Terrible way to do business.
