This is a no frills place. There isn't any decor or even background music. You order at the counter and the lady working was friendly and helpful. The food is good and fresh but again no frills. I would visit again if I were in a group but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

A coworker and I stopped here for lunch while passing through town. The inside is very open and spacious, and at noon on a Wednesday it wasn't busy at all. You order from the front counter and the menu is pretty standard for a burger place. We each ordered the steak burger, him then large and myself the junior. I also added a side of fried okra to mine. After you order and pay, they give you a number and you can sit down at any spot. They don't call your name when it's ready, instead they bring your food out to you. The food came out super fast and was very delicious! Neither of us knew what to expect, but the steak burgers were actually chicken fried steak. The junior was the size of a small burger and was the perfect amount of food for me. I really enjoyed this place and would definitely come back here again. read more

From San Antonio and stopped here for a bite to eat. It is located in the nice little downtown area. It is a nice little burger place with a mom and pop feel to it. I got the cheeseburger with tots and the burger was really juicy. The amount of tots given was the perfect amount. The restaurant is on the left side of the first block. When you walk in, heads turn to see who walked in! The place is quaint, lunchroom tables and chairs. Nothing on the walls, ceiling needs work. It's kinda cool to see a loft area but it doesn't seem used. LOOK PAST ALL THAT! Restroom is clean, kitchen looked clean. You walk up to the counter, place your order. Friendly people. This is a great place in sleepy little downtown Yoakum. Everything that I have eaten here is fabulous. Homemade onion rings come out nice and crispy, burgers are good, but my most recent favorite is the cowboy stew. I can eat that all the time no matter the outside temperature. If the employee that you interact with seems tired it's because they are! Give them a break. My husband likes their catfish platter or s nice cheeseburger and fries. Stopped in by chance. The folks were a little stand-offish at first. I ordered a steak sandwich and onion rings. Everything was amazing!! A real hand tenderized steak. Fried to perfection. Toasted buns. Fresh lettuce and tomato. And the Onion rings were fantastic! Once I sat down the lady, I believe she was an owner, came by and told me they make everything fresh from scratch. I had high hopes when I read earlier reviews. Granted, it is Yoakum and the choices are few and far between. The burger was good, but not great. A bit dry. The bacon had good flavor and the tots were good. I ordered a sundae for dessert and it was pretty disappointing. For the price, it should have been more involved than a drizzle of Hershey's syrup over a little sift serve. The staff was very friendly and helpful. read more

Burger with a side of bad attitude. First off the fresh hand battered onion rings are really the saving grace here. The burger was tasty but it was an undersized patty on an oversized bun and slightly over cooked and dry so it gets a meh. As mentioned by a previous reviewer I was greeted by a kid with a bored glance an a "for here or to go". Oh well, no biggie. What got me is when I was asked if I wanted a drink and I asked for a large Coke, he replied with an overly snarky "We don't have coke". No is Pepsi ok or any alternative mentioned. That and any self respecting Texan knows that there are three kinds of soft drinks in Texas, Coke, Dr. Pepper and Big Red. That being said, Coke is a universal code for whatever cola you may have. Be it Coke, Pepsi, RC, HEB or Uncle Vernon's Fizzy Drink. Whom ever's son or Nephew this is should be sent to the back to give attitude to the dishes. This place is tucked away in the downtown area of Yoakum. The food was fast and fresh. I had a cheeseburger, fries, and a drink and the total was $8.10 with tax. This is a much better option than any fast food burger. Value gets 5stars. read more

So....Let me start by saying the food was awesome! Burger was great and the fries were great. However....the kid at the register seemed like he just woke up and was told to get to work or else. The first words out of his mouth were, "Is this for here or to go?" Not, Hi welcome, or how ya doing? or anything. Not even the slightest smile. We were hoping for the small town "friendly" vibe everyone raves about in Texas. We didn't get it here. As for the rest of the experience...it was meh. The place is truly a hole in the wall burger joint. No music playing, no pictures on the wall, no vibe to speak of except that of a small town hole in the wall. Yes, the burgers were great! And if that is the only thing you care about, this is the place for you. However, if you are looking for a charming small town spot with lots of southern hospitality and charm, you might want to keep looking. read more

Passed by this little place and and saw someone coming out. Rolled down the window and asked how the food is here and she said great burgers and rings. We were from out of town and didn't have any idea where we were going to eat. Decided to try it based on what the lady said. I had the BBQ sandwich and onion rings. Tasted excellent. Rings are hand battered and not frozen. BBQ sandwich was quite tasty. My husband had the cheese burger and fries. We swapped 1/2 with each other, so can also comment on the burger, which was very good too. The fries were your typical frozen fries, nothing special. Food was reasonably priced and service was excellent. Loved the food. Will be back again to enjoy this little place that we found totally by accident. read more
