    Indoor s'mores and peach cobbler!

The service was incredible & prompt. The food , from the appetizers (fried green beans) to the steak and the desserts (cobbler and s'mores), everything was delicious. The restaurant is immaculately clean (a welcomed change). We'll definitely be back and will 100% recommend to everyone.

This place is AWESOME. Found this gem last year and had to plan a trip back through this part of the country. It's a must stop! Great food, great atmosphere, friendly service. The beans a hush puppies.....yes please! We tell everyone we know to stop here when they are close.

I have been following the Facebook page for this steakhouse for several months and we visited on a Friday night (2/2017). The pine board and tin interior is very clean and not overly cluttered. There are two flat screen TVs in the main dining area. I'm not sure if the one seating section along the wall under one TV is referred to as a "chef's table" or not. It does look down on everyone in the dining area and the open kitchen. All the waitstaff were smiling and friendly. Our waitress was friendly and patient as we studied the menu. There are complimentary white beans and fritters offered if you like. We didn't get fritters because they were out and none were finished even by the end of our meal. I was anxious to try the fritter...out of curiosity more than just being a fritter fan (which I am if they are done properly). We decided on a cheeseburger and the hamburger steak. The hamburger comes with one side and that is automatically fries, unless you choose from another side option. I chose scalloped vegetables. You get a choice of two sides with the hamburger steak and our choices were skin on fries and Steakhouse macaroni and cheese. The hamburger steak came with mushrooms, bell pepper, onions and brown gravy if preferred. We opted for that. In a nutshell, we were no impressed. Brown gravy was the odd tasting institutional kind. The scalloped vegetables were cold and undercooked. The burger was good. That being said, I expected more umph and flavor from a steakhouse burger. The macaroni was just a miss. It was served cold but the sauce itself was lacking (the sauce had "broken down" and separated into a globby texture). The table next to us has two steak eaters. I did watch them as they ate their steak. Whenever I am in a new or unfamiliar (with the food quality) I watch people around me and notice the presentation of their foods as I study the menu. Both steak eaters were "sawing" their steaks and chewing a lot. That is not a selling point for me. The steakhouse that all other steakhouses are judged, by myself and my husband, would be Texas Roadhouse in Florence, Alabama. You do NOT saw nor do you CHEW their New York Strip. The knife glides through it with one stroke and the meat melts and dissolves in your mouth. On top of that Texas Roadhouse seasons their steak and it is always perfection. My husband will not let me complain about the quality of the food while we are trying to eat. As a result after we paid I lagged back and told the cashier that the vegetables were cold and she said she would tell them and thanked me. I brought a lot of the food home to deal with later. I will cook the scalloped vegetables more and doctor on the macaroni just a bit and with the leftover burger and hamburger steak have a light supper tonight.

I went with a group of five and they weren't even busy and 6 other groups walked in and got seated before we even were able to order drinks

The meat isn't prime. Very tough and fatty! Service was good. Sides were good. If you want wine with dinner you must bring your own.

They are a steakhouse but can't cook a steak. Or sure who is the cook but they need some lessons.

This is a great little restaurant off the beaten path.  I have heard of it for years but last night…read morewas my first experience.  The catfish and hushpuppies were great.  Hushpuppies were a little spicy with green flecks of Jalapeno.  Salad bar was small but everything was very good.  Others in our party had steaks and all declared them excellent.  Service was first class, fast and friendly.  We will return.   Bring cash, no credit cards, probably because your cell phone will hardly work, probably no electronic credit card machines either. You'll find plenty of local color here, one of the most interesting is that this is also the site of the community's post office.  You don't get much chances to dine in your local post office.  Might be a great idea nationally if you could replicate their fried catfish. Cell phone reception is pretty poor at this location so you better check your GPS and YELP before you get there as well.  You won't find much about Chewalla, TN, on Google but it has a lot of local history.  When the railroad through nearby Corinth came through around 1857, one of the stops along the way was at Chewalla near the border of Mississippi and Tennessee.  The Chewalla Road was an established trailway which extended back into the time when all of the area was Indian Territory.  It was the path for invading and retreating armies during the Civil War and a battle was fought nearby during this time period.   Sitting right beside the railroad is Jim's Steak and Fish, about a 20 minute leisurely drive from Corinth, MS.  The most direct route coming from nearby Corinth is directly out Wenasoga Road which follows the path of the former Chewalla Road. Address shows Ramer, Tennessee, but actual location is Chewalla, an unincorporated community South of Ramer and North of Corinth, well worth the trip if you can find it.

Food is great with size-able portions for sure. Great steaks and fish is what I've had there…read more Hush puppies are great and they are given as appetizers. The salad bar is splendid. The tea like country tea cold and smooth. I must say this place is one I can remark that you get your moneys worth in food. Service is good and they do a great job at moving customers in as quickly as possible by clearing used tables. The building is relatively small therefore there may be a slight wait but I assure you it will be worth it. Do yourself a huge favor and plan a meal here. You will not be disappointed. Country people with a country attitude friendly. On scale of 10 it's a 10 for sure.

I had the fried clams with the home made Cole slaw and a sweet potato. The Cole slaw is not like a traditional coleslaw. It comes with the dressing on the side for you to dress it as you wish. That was probably my favorite part of the meal. The dressing was a sweet French dressing that reminded me of vidalia onion dressing. The fried clams were ok. The baked potato and slaw were ample and tasty accompaniments. The service was fast, and multiple hosts regularly checked-in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. I really like the riverfront ambiance. The river really gives you that down-home feeling. This is my favorite catfish place. I think it is the greatest of all catfish restaurants. As a special treat, my parents used to bring me here in the 70s and 80s. There is nothing like it. This location has aged very well and the food continues to be a special treat. If you can, try to go there on a weekday as weekends are very busy.
