It starts out with an emotional decision to alter the furniture that has been handed down to me after my parents died. Furniture well over 45 years old, wood hand turned in Denmark, with cushions and fabric that have seen much better days. I have never used a furniture reupholsterer, let alone, make a decision to alter furniture that was chosen by my parents. I needed to do right by them, and by us, as well as work within a budget that fits our half-full pockets. I turned to Yelp. I know Yelp gets a bad rap sometimes, people being ridiculous or disgruntled, but I rely on it heavily. I found several places near me, but JP Seating caught my eye. Nothing but great reviews that were honest, right down to the sketchy location. So don't be surprised when you roll up with your cherished items and are ready to hand them over to this establishment with a hopeful lump in your throat. Do it... drop them off and leave with a satisfied feeling, because you will be satisfied. Johnny, the owner, was incredibly responsive to my messages through Yelp. He responded to every question and provided me with a direct texting option to his phone. He quoted me a price after I told him what I wanted, without ever seeing the furniture. The wood for our furniture is timeless... it's beautiful despite being old. I was leery about dropping off the furniture, or him coming to pick it up and drop it off for 75.00 (also a great deal).... my husband recommended just bringing him the cushions. So ... i dropped off cushions for 2 chairs, one high back chair, one couch and 2 ottomans. When I got there, he and the seamstress Lina looked at the material and the design of the cushions. She took the time to listen to what I had hoped for, and said that she could duplicate it. As simple as that. I picked the fabric and it was a done deal. Half deposit is due at time of drop off, cash or check. I forgot my checkbook, so had to stop at the bank and pull out cash.... as I reluctantly handed it to Johnny, he said he would write me a receipt later, but for now.... here's a sticky note with the deposit written on it with his initials to solidify the deal. I drove away knowing that this must be the right decision..... it must, despite a sticky note that I stuck to a business card and stuck it in my wallet. The next morning, he already sent me photos of my ottomans redone and I was relieved, happy. My entire order was ready on FRIDAY.... that was 4 days after I dropped everything off. WHAT? I picked them up today and was so very excited to see the final product. Every piece fits perfectly, cushions cut to angle just like my old ones. The fit is perfect, despite not having the frames. This job was done with great care and concern for detail. Buttons, zippers, and ties were applied and fit exactly to measure. I am more than pleased and the price is unbeatable. He was far less than my other quotes, and it was done in a timely manner. I will refer them over and over again. I recently took my large sofa to Johnny at JP Seating to get the entire thing re-upholstered. I found JP's information in Facebook ad and simply gave this place a try. Before finding JP I went to two other furniture upholstery places one in Pasadena and another one in Irwindale. Both were more expensive and over my budget and might as well buy a brand new sofa. Those other guys were charging extra for the material and some required for me to go buy my own material so I said forget it. At JP Seating I got THE best deal and Johnny gave me a fantastic price and I thank him for that. To be honest I had no idea what my 20 years old couch would look like after getting it reupholstered and I was kind of skeptical about JP Seating because I don't know anything about them and I thought that because I was re-upholstering my old couch it would not look as good like when I fist got it brand new years ago. I was completely wrong. I LOVE my couch with a new and a different fabric I chose at JP Seating. The fabric was not extravagant or anything like that but the whole family chose the color and material and now the couch looks AMAZING and JP did a FANTASTIC job! Johnny advice us to take a few samples home and compare there at my home with the light that we have. That was the smartest thing to do because when we were at the shop everything looked different so we chose the right color at home. We did take our time and looked at the color choices over and over because things usually don't end up the way you thought they would. We still were not sure how the couch would end up like but in the end we all liked it very very much. I advice anyone to please take your time with that process because once the couch is done that's it you cannot redo it. I could not believe it when I saw it. The materials are high quality and JP even repaired some things that were not right on my couch from the very beginning so they fixed it for me at no charge. That's what I call fantastic customer service. I was truly blown away at how good my large sofa looks like now so I totally recommend JP Seating. Johnny is a really patient and cool guy and he payed a lot of attention as to what we needed and he didn't rush us. Their prices are extremely reasonable and the end result says it all. Found Johnny after speaking with over 6 other upholstery places. He was quick to answer all my questions and had the most reasonable pricing. My couch and loveseat were due to replace and after searching different furniture stores, I realized that my couch and loveseat wasn't worth replacing. So re-upholstering it was perfect. So I was very skeptical about having my sofas getting reupholstered especially from a place that is given 5 stars and yet no warranty for the job they do. After window shopping for sofas (Ashley's Furniture, Living Spaces, Costco) I realized sofas are WAYYYY to expensive ($1,400+ too expensive), so I took a gamble and called this place up. The person never answered the phone, all my conversation was done through text (raised a red flag). I sent this person a picture of my two sofas (made of pleather that were horribly pealing. I called my sofas "vintage sofas" because they were that BAD!) The person gave me an estimate over the phone consisting of: $800.00 for pick up and delivery, brand new cushion and and color/style of my choosing from the samples the pick up and delivery man has for previews. So I took my chances and made the deal with the person. I have to say, I am glad I took the chance because my sofas look brand new . The downfall was that my family and I were left without sofas for 2 entire WEEKS! I never knew how much of an asset sofas are to a home. But overall they did great work. The couch is pretty firm now which means it should last longer and I rather have them that way then super soft sooner rather than later. I most definitely will recommend this place to anyone looking for "new and improved" sofas! For a fair price. read more

He has a great memory, as we had asked for a quote some time back but could not get to his shop for a few months and when I finally did he remembered and had a record of the job I wanted him to do. He also honored the original quote. He made two seat cushions for a banquette seating bench. The seats and fabric were high quality but the cushion size I ordered turned out to be too thick (it was my miscalculation of the seat height). I brought back the cushions, explained the situation, and he resized the cushions to half the original thickness and reupholstered--free of charge! He has hundreds of fabric colors and texture combinations so come prepared with a few color selections in mind based on your home's decor or else you will spend quite a bit of time looking around. His shop may be a bit difficult to find the first time since it's tucked away but let him know you are coming first and he wil help guide you to it. He is responsive by phone call and text. Our dining set particularly the seat cushions were flat after many years of use. My wife wanted a new set (table and chairs) but I argued that this was not economical since what we had was not dated, people are still using the dark brown/coffee bean finished furnitures. A new set of the same style at Costco was selling for over $750 in the same style. Fortunately, I found this place and convinced my wife to give them a try. We started with one chair, had the foam seat cushion replaced (at double the thickness and density) and went with the same type of dark brown vinyl cover. It took a day for the sample chair to be finished, my wife was pleased with the end result. We sent the rest of our chairs the next day and they were finished the same day! The cost for each chair was $40. The only issue I had with their work was that they did not remove the remnant plastic covering bits that were on the chairs, these were from the original source (Easy Life Furniture) that we could not remove since they were embedded into the cushions. The overall end result was good for us. We got some additional life from our dining chairs and saved some money (for now at least) so you can say we're sitting pretty. read more
