Passed by this pizza place and saw they had vegan cheese substitute, so we had to try it! We got the Meatzza with vegan cheese. It came out pretty quickly and the server was super nice. The pizza was loaded with vegan cheese, bacon, sausage, and pepperoni. The cheese even had a cheese pull to it! The bacon and pepperoni were quite salty though. The red sauce helped balance the saltiness a bit, but next time we would get cheese and sausage instead of all three meats. The crust was soft and had a crispy edge. It was ever slightly too thin in our opinion though as it started to disintegrate in the middle with how much toppings there were. On this episode of Linda's pizza tour, we visited Joyride. I am a huge fan of Detroit style pizza and one place has held its status in my top 3 for a while now. So when T says try Joyride, it could change your mind, I gave it a shot. We ordered the cheese which was cut into 6 slices. First glance, underwhelming. The pizza lost its shape and looked deflated. The sauce was too tart for my liking. Its soft like a focaccia but I wouldn't categorize it as a pizza. Overall, I am not a fan. read more

Love this new location of joy ride. Counter service restaurant with lots of options! We opted for the large pep and 1/2 dozen garlic know with salted Carmel froyo! It was really flavorful and also beautiful presentation. The pizza came out quickly and was hot!! Lots of seating inside and some outside seating. Beautifully touch with all the plants and fresh flowers. Great vibes in there! Workers were helpful and so kind to our little one. Will be coming back. I tried this pizza at a brewery one time, but was excited to go to an actual location. The sweet heat pineapple has to be one of my favorites! The sweetness from the pineapple and the heat from the jalapeños create the perfect taste combo in your mouth. The sauce is also amazing! It adds so much flavor to the pizza. I really enjoyed this location because there was a lot of seating and the benches on the side were a nice cozy touch. Parking was fairly easy since we went into the garage, but I'm sure street parking is a little difficult. The cashier was really nice and greeted us when we came in. Based on the reviews, it seems like we probably came closer to closing time as there were only a few people seated and the place was pretty quiet. Interior is cozy and dark, giving off a relaxed, late-night diner vibe without the bright fluorescent lights. It's Detroit-style pizza, so I tried their classic pepperoni, and while the base was solid, I found the pepperoni too salty for my taste. Saw that there's a good variety of pizza options to choose from, so maybe I just got unlucky with my pick! read more

Just opened today! Another Joyride pizza shop amongst their other Bay Area stores. Nice location on Union Street with a open and airy space. Love the groovy Playlist too. Joyride Pizza's new location is a fantastic addition to the Detroit-style pizza scene. I stopped by with my coworkers for a quick bite and left feeling completely fulfilled and stuffed. For Detroit-style pizza, it's impressively light and not overly doughy, which made it even more enjoyable. As a big fan of corner slices, I was happy with the crisp edges and generous toppings. Next time, I'll probably ask them to cook it a little longer to get that extra crunch on the undercarriage, which is just a personal preference. The seating arrangement inside is incredibly comfy and adds to the experience. For a chain, it's not your stereotypical Starbucks-style table setup that feels barebones. Instead, it's more homey and inviting, which makes it a great place to relax while enjoying your meal. The quick service and convenient cold water station nearby were much appreciated. To top it all off, we got to meet the owner, who was incredibly nice and clearly passionate about what he does. That love for his craft shines through in every bite of his pizza. I went in early to bring a friend in the north bay some excellent pizza for lunch. This is the only Joyride shop in SF that opens early. So I looked on line and couldn't order the pizza I wanted (it said they were out of just that one type....sad me) I tried calling but no answer. So I drove over to pick a different pizza and yes they were open as advertised online but boo! they don't start making pizza until lunchtime. I was very excited to try this pizza. Unfortunately I think it missed the mark in most categories. I tried the pepperoni, Sweet Bianca, and chicken wings. There was something off with sauce on the pepperoni. It really wasn't very enjoyable. I do think the pepperoni themselves were solid and the dough was decent, if you're into the Detroit style. Nice crispy edges. The sweet Bianca flavor was fairly on point. However the ricotta, which is something I am very fond of, somewhat ruined the bite. Maybe intentional due to the sweet nature of this pizza, but the ricotta had a whipped cream consistency and just didn't work for me. Chicken wings were fine, but nothing special. Sauce was unique, slight buffalo and straight hot sauce flavor. In general I think it's pretty expensive for the size of these pizzas, and wish I would've enjoyed more. I'll give it another shot down the road to try some other styles, but disappointed this won't be one of pizza staples going forward. read more

The spot is super cute, clean, and has a good vibe--and the restroom was clean too, which is always a plus! The service was great, and my husband actually really enjoyed the pizza. As for me, Detroit-style pizza isn't really my thing. The sauce sitting on top instead of being baked into the crust just doesn't do it for me--I'm guessing that's part of the style, but it's not my favorite. We spent around $50 for the two of us and left still a little hungry, so I do think it's a bit pricey for the portion. The pizza looked better in the pics, but it was still decent overall. I'd probably come back if I were already in the neighborhood, but there are definitely better options and better value out there. read more

For months the sign on the door has said soft serve ice cream. Each time I go in weekly, someone says the same thing. They tell me it's coming. Cover the soft serve sign and take it off your menu until you can sell it. Don't advertise something you don't sell. Your square bougie pizza is missing soft serve for dessert. read more

I visited this location after a fitness class nearby. The employee was friendly and gave me a few minutes to check out their menu. I ended up getting a pandan mochi cake and blueberry muffin. Who would've thought they'd have such interesting pastries at a pizzeria. I didn't get to try their pizzas yet, but will return for more. The ambiance was nice. It's not often I'm 100% satisfied when it comes to pizza. Pizza is my absolute favorite food in the entire world. So much intentionality goes into the pizza. Every flavor was amazing. I ordered the bacon me crazy and every bite got better. This is the hype level equivalent of Jon n Vinnys- but better tasting food and AMAZING prices. Thank you so much for the sweet atmosphere-I was nervous and excited because I've never been here before but spent over a year dying to come here and it did not disappoint. This is where I spent my birthday and I would do it again every year. I highly recommend. They are also a coffee shop which is perfect as it's conveniently located near the financial district & provides lots of seating and quiet ambience for those looking to work or study. Came here specifically to try the pizza, because good pizza is few and far between in the Bay Area, but it didn't meet the mark for me. Upon walking in, it's hard to ignore the unusual interior aesthetic, it's like a 1950's diner meets an ikea. It didn't really look bad imo, but I can't argue that it looked good either. I don't usually review dining aesthetics, but it's hard to ignore this one. Not overly minimal like most places, but I'd say a little over the top. The centerpiece when walking in is the pizza display case. There were many beautiful pies, and I didn't know what to try. Unfortunately service was non existent on this day. My friend and I stood for about 3-5 minutes looking at the pizzas, and the clerk didn't bother to acknowledge as he stood in front of the cash register. It would have been nice to have some input on whats going on in the case and what's popular. After paying, we got self serve water and sat facing out the window because the busy neighborhood was more interesting than the busy interior, and our personal pizzas came out in about 10-15 minutes. The pizzas here are very aesthetically pleasing, and the cost is reasonable, but when it came to tasting the pizza, it felt like a bait and switch. Tbh I really love pizza so I'm somewhat snobby about it, but I'm still not too good for a Costco slice if that makes sense. The pizza here was not great pizza, it was not good pizza, I'd say it was okay pizza, but you can do much better for the price. I expected much better amidst the mirage going on around me. I can't say the amount of toppings were skimpy, they were fine (and I'll get back to that), but the slices were way too bready regardless of how much toppings and cheese you could pile on. In my pizza baking experience, I would say that the pizza was somewhat undercooked, it was very spongy and it lacked the flavor you get from a nicely golden crust. Though beautifully topped, the toppings didn't strike me as high quality ingredients, they were mid at best. If I was blindfolded and tasted what I ate, I would never guess it came from a place like this. It struck me as a chain type pizza place that could be in any random city in America. The cheese didn't have any distinct flavor that stood out and the pesto tasted cheap, because it was very salt and oil forward, lacking any basil taste whatsoever. My pizza was essentially a salty, oily bread sponge, but not in a good way. (It was the chicken pesto ranch slice btw.) It would have been nice if the server could have recommended something better than what I chose, but he was preoccupied. My friend got the other vegetarian pesto slice and felt pretty much the same way about the pesto and the breadyness. In conclusion, I could see some appeal to this place if you're going here to drink alcohol and need greasy bready pizza to soothe your stomach, but as someone sober it was pretty lousy pizza and wouldn't recommend coming here for just the pizza! read more

every time i come in here these employees find a way to mess with my order and i should probably stop coming here if it wasnt for the convenience. today i purchased a salad and a side of tater tots. why on earth would anyone want their tater tots thrown on top of their salad. and when i asked where the other box was for my tots, they said they thought i wanted it like that. its a side of tater tots. last time i ordered a greek salad they gave me a greek pizza too. so i dont know what is going on back there but i do know everyone needs to get retrained. read more
