I am so disappointed in my visit to joy ride .. My appointment was originally with one technician for a pedicure and manicure, but they called me to make my appointment shorter because someone after me cancelled. So now I had two techs working at the same time, one on pedi n one on mani. I got to my appointment on time however my tech ( Lee ) rushed through my appointment .. I mean she didn't even put lotion on my hands after or use a hot towel she just got up and left early and got the other tech to finish everything on her own.. I asked Lee if she could do two simple nail arts ( standard cherry ) on each ring finger but she proceeded to tell me she didn't have time .. even though our appointment time was now cut in half because someone else was doing my pedicure whilst she did my nails. I was extremely disappointed, I am not happy w the manicure.. and I'm not happy with the service. Felt it was so unprofessional. Just wanted to update and say that I was contacted by Joyride and was offered a complimentary service; however, I declined. I will add that the cleanliness is above par, which I really appreciated. I do stick by my thoughts that $50 for a basic pedicure (ecspecially the one I received) was not worth it for me. Had a wonderful mani pedi today! It was SO relaxing and I absolutely love that they use non toxic products. I have been going to the cheapest places I could find in Vancouver for so long and I forgot what it was like to splurge a little for some great product that really makes your skin feel so amazing! I didn't get any colour this time but my nails look fantastic after careful care by the technician. My feet are also BABY bum soft haha. I love it and will definitely come back! read more

I really wanted to like this place but the girl did such a poor job that I will not go back. I got a regular pedicure and I have no idea what happened but the polish was put on too thickly, never dried and got ruined. I brought flip flops, waited 30 min or so at the salon under a dryer, went home in the early afternoon and didn't go to bed until 11pm or so. By morning there were sheet prints in the polish and it looked awful. I phoned to complain and I went back and they agreed to have a different tech redo it for free obviously and the second pedi was fine but it was such a hassle I will not go back. I have a trip coming up and this place is cute and nice decor, but would prefer my local place (which is not cute) but they do solidly excellent work every time. read more

I've been to Joyride a couple of times now and I've enjoyed each of my experiences. The store itself is very aesthetic and the employees are always very friendly. I would always recommend getting an appointment before coming here. The tools are all packaged separately, so I'm always very confident in the cleanliness of the store. They offer a variety of colours in both gel and regular; I personally prefer gel/Shellac because of the longevity and the less waiting time afterwards. My favourite technician is Lucia - she is great at what she does and she's always very friendly and engaging. I have very sensitive feet (aka I'm ticklish), and she accommodated for that. She's also very honest with her clients, telling us when we need to take a break from the painting, which I appreciate. read more

I really wanted to love Joyride because the decor is adorable and the polish selection was great. However, my friend and I had a rather sub par experience. When we first walked in to the salon, with pre booked appointments, we were not greeted in the most friendly manner. The woman at the front told us we had booked in for 3 people and didn't seem happy. We actually had a text message confirming our appointment for 2 people. I got a manicure with gel polish and a regular pedicure. I asked for no lotion because I was getting a spray tan afterwards and so didn't have a massage on my hands or feet. I was charged $99 with tax and tip. The nail technicians were friendly and kind, however I was not happy with the final results. The girl missed the top coat of my gel polish on one hand so one was matte and the other shiny. My pedicure chipped 2 days later which never happens when I go to my regular (much more affordable) salon and the gel polish on my fingers peeled up at the edges after under a week which also doesn't usually happen. It was my friend's birthday so she was given a coffee and I was offered one for a charge. When I'm paying $100 for a mani/pedi, I think charging for coffee is a bit ridiculous. My girlfriend got a full set of gel nails with gel polish and hers did not last well either. One nail completely peeled off after about 4 days. She also didn't receive a massage. All in all, especially after a few days, my friend and I were quite unsatisfied with our experience and are not likely to return. read more

LOVE my nails by Naz. I had never had gel nail extensions before. Naz was a perfectionist, but always checked in to make sure I liked them. She was super diligent about shaping and molding, and did a super beautiful ombre sparkle on them. I was planning on the gels being a one time thing, but I may have to do a fill or three :-) The spot is cute, the only thing is that the two mani chairs are in the corner, so when I went to or from the far one, I felt like I was inconveniencing whoever was getting their nails done in the other chair. Well what can I say, I tell the girl I like my nails rounded. Not square, not pointed and she doesn't listen. I ended up going home and reshaping my nails. Absolutely loved my visit. I got the pixie mani, pedi. Full service but no polish (just nail strengthener) It was what I wanted for sure, they also have an ipad to read magazines if you are getting a pedi. I have a few critiques. chairs are close together so I got sprayed a couple times when they were working on the girl next to me, when working on my left arm I had to wrench it over to the other side (I think this is an issue at a lot of salons though). overall I'd definitely come back here. I saw Joyride had just opened up less than a block away from my place. Jumped at the opportunity to visit and get a shellac manicure. Firstly, the interior decoration is gorgeous -- I love the purple, minimalist theme with the skate-board "riding" undertones. Pretty cool. They immediately ask if you'd like coffee, tea or water. They give you a menu on their iPad to choose from. I asked for a latte. I sat down and got not only a great manicure but my nail technician (Maria) was great because she was very personable and really cared about our conversation and my overall satisfaction. I sat down, they took my scarf and coat, hung it up and within a minute or two I was presented with a lovely latte in a neat coffee cup complete with a side of macaroon with the letter "J". Very thoughtful presentation. After my manicure, about a week later one of my nails started to bubble and peel off. I get a lot of shellacs in my day and have never seen this. I went back to Joyride and they immediately sat me down and redid my nail for free. I was super impressed with this! My shellac has lasted me more than two weeks now. Will definitely be coming back to get a pedicure -- thanks for opening up such a cute joint in the neighbourhood! read more

I never write reviews but I actually hate this place so much that I want to make sure that anyone who does go to Joyride think about it a little longer before they do. I've been here twice now, once to get a gel fill and once to get a shellac pedicure and I felt extremely unsatisfied both times. As an overview, they are charge almost double of where I normally go for nails except I get poor customer service and inexperienced technicians. And worst of all when I complain about the price they do nothing. I mean, their salon was empty. There was only one other person getting their nails done while I was. You would think that if they wanted to retain their customers they would do something when someone complains. The receptionist just gets all defensive every time. And just fyi, they don't use a machine to buff off shellac. They do it by hand. Which kind of leaves an uncomfortable burning sensation. Which is acceptable I guess, because there should be some pain expected with getting nails done. But I was mostly disappointed by their lack of "non-toxic" choices for shellac. They said Bio Seaweed was their only line for shellac which was non-toxic, but their colour choices was limited. I did check online, Bio Seaweed is a 5-free brand. I guess the 7-free brands such as RMS are regular polishes only. Because of the lack of colour choices, I ended up using a Luxio Akzents brand shellac, which isn't marketed 3, 5 or 7-free brand. I think the most frustrating part of my experience was when I went to pay, they charged me an extra $10 because my existing nail colour was from another salon. With tax and everything in, it came to $75. Did I feel that i was worth it? Absolutely not. Because I know that Luxio Akzents is a brand that is available at my home salon. I felt deceived by the great marketing that JoyRide has in marketing their non-toxic products. I have no idea what was so non-toxic about my procedure. The salt scrub they used? The lotion they used? The girl doing my nails sure didn't specify. Which essentially leaves me feeling like the whole procedure/experience wasn't worth $75. The decor is nice tho. I have no idea how they keep the lights on in that place. read more

I really did not want to have to write this review but I've had multiple bad experiences here now. I'll lay it out as objectively as I can because I really like some aspects of how this nail salon does business. Things I enjoy about Joyride: I like that they are very conscious of using sterilized/new tools and providing customers with a nicely designed and clean environment. But here is the bad: 1. I recently went (after having come multiple times) to get a shellac pedicure. Upon arriving at home I noticed the big toe had multiple air ripples. I called to tell them about the issue and they nonchalantly told me to come in to get it fixed which I just could not be bothered to do on a nice sunny weekend. So I left it and thought it was a one off, and just decided to not see that technician again. Not a big deal really. 2. I came in again last Friday for a shellac mani and made sure to ask for a different woman. Things seemed fine with this new nail technician until I noticed that after filing my nails she didn't even wipe them down to prep them for the first shellac base coat (red flag, even I know that). I didn't say anything and she proceeded with the manicure, but when I got home I noticed that one of the nails had a big air bubble in it and my cuticles were filled with junk (mainly the powder from the filed nails). 3. I called them again to tell them about this. She was apologetic and I told her this had happened before. She suggested I come in for a touch up and she also said something along the lines of making sure I'm seeing someone with experience doing shellac. First issue: WHY ARE YOU HAVING PEOPLE THAT DON'T KNOW SHELLAC DO SHELLAC? Why am I paying the same price for a novice vs. an expert? It makes zero sense and it's extra annoying when it happens at a place like this that already charges more than most nail salons in Vancouver because of its perks. Second issue: I was only able to get an appointment on Sunday at 11. Why am I having to bend over backwards to come in and get something fixed that they messed up? They should have accommodated me the next day and at the time I wanted. Third issue: upon arriving for my appointment I had to wait 10 minutes to be served. When she was finally done I got the same woman who made the mistake even though I asked to have someone else do it and someone else was originally assigned to me based on my appointment confirmation email. The receptionist did offer me 20% off for my next visit when I came in for my correction but it's just not good enough. I can't get over the fact they are charging so much money to have an inexperienced person (confirmed by them after something has happened, not before) apply shellac and then just kinda shrugging their shoulders when they make mistakes. IF you do go to Joyride though, see a nail artist/technician called Paris, not only is she super sweet she's also super talented and I've had nothing but good experiences with her. I really hope management takes this on board and trains the people who work there properly. I know I definitely won't be returning. read more

I had a pedicure at Joyride and the nail technician buffed my toe nail hurting delicate skin around the nail. At first I didn't notice the damage because all area was pink after treatment, but two days later I still haven't healed. This doesn't allow me to show off my new pedicure until it heals. read more

Unacceptable experience. First of all as I entered the salon the "manager" did not not greet me she started talking to the nail technician about me being late and did not acknowledge my presence. The prices are so extensive but i am willing to pay premium for a good outcome and service but this was so bad. I checked for hour for places with the best reviews and rating and this was one I drove all the way from Surrey to get this service it was so bad. The nail technician was sweet and she did an okay job but the manager ruined it all. She left her all by herself. More importantly i am not even from here i am for Dubai and was trying to find my way i was 20 minutes late because i couldn't find my way despite the fact that the salon was empty they charged me for a service i didn't even get because i was late. This is so unacceptable. And the so called manager did not have the audacity to even tell me she conveyed her message through the nail therapist. I will never ever go back and not only that most of my family and friends live here who pay premium I recommended NBAR and not this crappy place. read more

Especially in light of small business trying to stay afloat during COVID, I do not write this negative review without good reason. I had a mani / pedi and during my pedi, the technician cut my toe with the nail clipper, resulting in bleeding. It was a decent snip of my flesh. That was simply careless and unacceptable. The person who was at the front desk (manager?) came to look at what happened, and neither she nor the technician apologized at that time. The technician did apologize at the end of the session and I did receive no charge on gel removal for my toes. I felt there should have been immediate acknowledgement and apology. Further I noticed that the floor was not that clean, and the plexiglass partition at the nail station was dirty and stained. Overall, a very disappointing experience, and I will not ever return. read more

I don't usually write Yelp reviews but I am really disappointed in this place. The first time I went it was great, but it feels like every other time I've been there there's been some sort of issue. Appts are cancelled, cut short because a technician is overbooked, snippy comments when I ask for mistakes to be fixed, peeling gel manis two days after application. Last straw for me is that they've cancelled a chunk of their appts two days before Christmas because a technician is sick - I get that, but any other nail salon would be paying a technician overtime to get their Christmas clients sorted. What it has in nice decor it makes up for in poor service. It's really a shame. read more

Naz did lovely work on my nails today! It was my second time at Joyride but first time getting extensions (I bite my nails and just wanted them tidied up with natural shape and length). To be honest I didn't know what to expect and wondered if I'd come away with crazy huge fake nails. But Naz listened to exactly what I wanted and was very careful and thorough with her application/shaping, checking with me as she went along. I had a gift card to come to Joyride and must say, I loved it! Walking into the salon, you are not hit with the regular smell of a salon due to only using nontoxic products (I am in early pregnancy stage so this was really important) and it was incredibly clean. The girls were busy, and due to being early I had to wait a few moments before getting seated to a station and start soaking my feet. The decor and atmosphere was very calming and the girls were very sweet. My technician was a lovely Japanese lady who was very detailed orientated, even taking about 15 minutes longer than I was used to which wasn't a big deal, however my toes were perfect! Over 4 weeks later and it still looks fresh. I will definitely be back! read more

I had Lucia, and she did my nails flawlessly. The other aestheticians were friendly too, and would join in on our conversation now and then. I wish they had soda water or filtered water to offer to clients, but that's just me being a diva. The decor is so cute, and prices are pretty typical for an above average nail salon. I've been looking for something like this in Vancouver for a long time though, and I am glad I've found it. Decided to get my nails done while I was in the area and came across Joyride on Google. Booked my appointment, impressed with what services they offered and the extra perks (IPad to browse, given specialty tea/coffee etc.). Upon arrival, I was greeted by a young gal who also did my nails- super sweet and really nice. The atmosphere was modern and very up-to-date. Although I would recommend this nail salon, I didn't think it went above my expectations-I've had the same type of service at other salons before. I know due to COVID that the extra perks were not offered, but I wish the price would have reflected that or to was told. The price of a gel manicure cost me $50, but was charged $55 (tax, maybe??), but I happily paid. All in all, nice place to get your nails done, but honestly nothing special that would make me want to pay the extra money. I am hoping that my nails last for at least two weeks, since this is the first time I've tried non-toxic products. read more

I went in to Joyride with a terrible acrylic manicure from a different nail salon and very little knowledge of anything about acrylic nails. Sadhbh took care of my nails, explained what the other salon had done wrong, and fixed them up all while being a joy to sit with. My nails are absolutely perfect and she made sure they were exactly how I wanted them and she answered all my questions about them. The salon itself is very nice, iPads instead of magazines, beautiful decor. And the prices are really competitive. I couldn't recommend this place more. read more

One star for great decor and interior. Customer service? What customer service? I walked in feeling I did not exist or maybe it's my race? Apparently they also don't service falsely seeing that in the reviews they do. Pregnant employee approached me finally after looking around to see for prices after waiting for so long. I went for the Sophia treatment, which is the non-toxic nail service for nails. I had a pedicure. It was just ok. The aesthetician wasn't very talkative and didn't even introduce herself. I had to ask her her name. I wasn't offered any headphones which they have in all their marketing. I picked a 7-free non-toxic colour, but the aesthetician used OPI as a base-coat without asking me (which does have toxins in it). I had to ask her to change it. She also painted my nails in a way that make them look a week growing out, which I don't like. The nail colour should start right at the cuticle not a millimetre or two down. I may go back, because as a pregnant person it's hard to do my own toe nails, but I won't go back after that. read more

Let me start by saying the decor is very cute. I got "The Joy Ride", your standard pedi. On the rainbow wall of polish they skipped soft pink shades. Surprising as I find that to be universal shade. There was good conversation with the tech and the space is very clean (the reason I gave them 2 stars). Although when it came to polish, it was put on thick and uneven. So much so that while drying it shifted! The worst part was to fix the issue she add MORE polish. It was already thick and uneven, why would you add more polish. I didn't have any additional time to express my concern, I had already spent 30-40 mins drying to which they unplugged my drier to set up a UV light for another client. I went home and took the polish off immediately! Not worth the ~65 spent. I would not recommend this place not for that kind of money! read more

I am from out of town and went for a pedicure with my sisters here. We made an appointment days out and were so excited that we chose pedicures that boasted an "extra long massage" online. We were overall so disappointed with our experience. The decor/atmosphere was lovely and the technicians were funny and kind, but we definitely will not be back. One gal forgot top coat on my sisters pedi and they all seemed rushed. Now two days later, my pedicure is chipping and I'm out $78+ dollars. read more

I went to Joyride about 3 weeks ago, and my gel nails are still going strong (if a bit grown out)! The quality of service is great and the décor is gorgeous - they have the most adorable floral couch (perfect for post-mani selfies). The manicurists are very friendly, but maybe a little too sociable! My manicurist was so busy talking that she didn't notice that she'd filed my nails crooked - I pointed this out but she disagreed with me. The quality itself was great but I left with about half my nail tips slanted down on the right side and I had to re-file them straight at home. My friend who went with me had a perfect experience, so maybe I just caught my manicurist on a bad day. Overall my experience was great and I'll go back. read more

I have been a few times; I like the product and atmosphere however my nails got really damaged last time. They used some sort of electric file that ruined my cuticles and also damaged the nail bed. I am waiting for them to grow out as that is the only way they will get strong/normal again. read more
