We sat at a long table that could seat at least 10 as we chose our different colors and cuts. Two other large groups were in the studio and even added to the lively ambiance. Amy walked us through the process and then checked on us intermittently to make sure the process was going okay. We had a lot of fun doing something crafty with each other and I would highly recommend it for a work outing or large group social. My only regret is not getting a beer or two while we had the chance! Didn't realize until late that they offered drinks as well. My bowl was ready a few weeks after. And yes, I know it looks like a Turkey.

Here's a neat little shop that I stumbled into on my visit to Galveston today. They specialize in…read morehandmade quills as well as journals and ink. They also offer sealing wax as well as seals. This shop hearkens back to ye olden times where communication was hand written and people took the time to compose. The shop is small but they pack a lot into a very small space. Free two hour parking is close by which was super convenient. It's close enough to the Strand that you can do some great shopping and dining there as well. The people running the shop were very friendly. While I did not make a purchase on this trip, I will definitely be back. The prices seemed very reasonable for products made one at a time by hand. Check this place out. It's cool.

My daughter had been looking forward to coming here all week during Spring Break. We arrived and…read morethere was large party in the private area but just a few customers on the walk in side. I went to the counter to see what we needed to do, and the young lady was checking out customers and an older gentleman was also behind the counter with her. A younger man also walked up behind the counter as we were standing there. No one offered any information or assistance as we stood there to the side. I eventually asked her if we needed to do anything specific since we were just standing there to the side and she said "oh, sorry! I thought you were with the large party." She gave us instructions to select our pieces and then have a seat and someone would be with us to do the next step. We selected our items and had a seat. The two gentlemen were still around the counter or back and forth to help other customers with paint, etc. I made eye contact with both of them and they both turned away at several engagements. After about 8-10 minutes of no one coming to our table, my 9 year old looked at me and said, "Mom, I feel like no one wants to help us, and they've seen us sitting here for a while." WOW. An experience I NEVER want my child to have. We put our pieces back carefully, and left. I hate that was her experience especially because she was really looking forward to it, and there aren't many opportunities like this in our area, but I won't bring her back to be ignored.

They provide the ready to paint ceramics, paint, tools, and they also bake the pieces as well. We spent a decent amount of time here and never once did we feel rushed. The owners here are very friendly and knowledgeable. I couldn't be more excited to have a pottery place on this side of town. Super excited to see our pieces once they're done! Will be back soon.

For those not in the market for originals, there are giclees and prints, too. After years of travel, I've come to realize that the best souvenir is original art from a local. It's very personal, really puts you back in the place, and it supports the local economy. Beyond that, the particular talent at this gallery was considerable! I was overwhelmed with the organization and variety this store had. It's nice and spacious, inspiring, and very cute. We were worried about going in right at opening time but there was a lady working who was also doing a morning scrapbook class of 1 other lady (I assume it's a small class given that they were sitting at long opened tables covered with crafting supplies) who greeted us kindly. She checked on us once while we strolled, and then was very friendly upon checking out. My partner and I just got married so we got a few things to start a new scrapbook beginning with our honeymoon. And we also picked up a DIY calendar which is something I've actually never seen before! Very excited to start our new projects.
