After our experience, I chose to reach out privately by email rather than just leaving a negative review. My goal wasn't to complain I genuinely hoped the feedback would help improve the experience for future families and visitors. Unfortunately, I never received any response or acknowledgment. What disappointed me most wasn't even the original visit it was realizing afterward that there didn't seem to be any interest in hearing customer feedback. A simple reply, acknowledgment, explanation, or even "thank you for taking the time to share this" would have gone a long way. I understand businesses get busy and not every message can result in a full resolution, but being completely ignored after taking the time to provide detailed, respectful feedback reinforced the same feeling we had during our visit: that customers were more of an afterthought than a priority. I still think the space itself has a lot of potential, which is why I reached out privately first. I just wish the customer experience had matched it.

As a 5th wedding anniversary treat, we signed up for a personal class with Jane at Studio 908…read more Jane started us right away at "throwing," and it was a lot of fun and very educational. We each made a nice bowl. We then tried our hand at making objects out of slab clay, and she coached us every step of the way. It was challenging -- especially since neither of us is very artistic-oriented -- but Jane made it seem almost easy. My wife made a napkin holder and I tried to make a bread pan, but not sure how it will turn out. Doing this together was a perfect way to celebrate our anniversary and Jane made it interesting and fun. Jane is also going to "finish" our feeble attempts by firing and glazing them. We'll retrieve them in a couple of weeks and can't wait to see them! We'll be very happy to have these personally made items as a tangible memory of our anniversary. This shop hearkens back to ye olden times where communication was hand written and people took the time to compose. The shop is small but they pack a lot into a very small space. Free two hour parking is close by which was super convenient. It's close enough to the Strand that you can do some great shopping and dining there as well. The people running the shop were very friendly. While I did not make a purchase on this trip, I will definitely be back. The prices seemed very reasonable for products made one at a time by hand. Check this place out. It's cool.

Their private cooking lesson was wonderful!…read more ...I confess: I am a bit OCD and as the daugher of a master chef, am not a big fan of "cooking lessons"...particularly in someone's home. But, recently I was in Galveston for a meeting and was told a Cooking Lesson would be our entertainment...determined to be a team player, I prepared for...at best...a mediocre evening. Armed with a bit of Hager 1 Vodka (to calm my nerves), I trooped out to Tiki Island resigned to simply get through it...however, I was TOTALLY surprised! The chef's home is chic, yet adorably comfortable...and would meet anyone's exacting standards for cleanliness. Linda (our host) has wonderful decorating taste, and her home if filled with all of these exceptional items from her world travels - No! We are not friends! She and Laura (the Chef) are just that warm and friendly...that by the time we left, it was as if we'd spent the evening with a BFF. We had a marvelous time! ...and I did not need the vodka to do so... Linda, Alicia (Kitchen Chick) and Laura (Authentic Italian Chef) were a bundle of energetic laughter ...we made Gnoochi from scratch, Meatballs in Red Sauce...and the most divine Spinach Salad ...well, I say, "we made" but in honesty, we mostly nibbled and sipped wine! The food was divine! ...the Gnoochi was perfectly light and airy, and my friend ate the red sauce as if it were ice cream! Speaking of sweets, the Panna Cotta was TO DIE FOR! We left with full tummies, a souvenir recipe book...and after a trivia contest, re: Italian food...my team had their first place Wooden Spoon trophies! DEFINITELY something I would love love to do again!

I had a very disappointing experience at Gracie's in Galveston. My younger sister accidentally…read morespilled a single drop of coffee on the floor. Instead of handling the situation with kindness or understanding, a staff member made us clean it up ourselves. My sister was wearing a dress, and they still insisted she pick it up. To make matters worse, they made my young sister walk outside to throw the trash away herself. Accidents happen, and this could have been handled with basic courtesy and professionalism. Instead, the managers and staff came across as rude, unwelcoming, and lacking any sense of customer service. We left feeling embarrassed and disrespected. Unfortunately, because of how we were treated, we will not be returning. There are plenty of places in Galveston that treat their customers with much more kindness and respect.

The owner/manager was incredibly rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional toward my daughters. There was no reason for the way they were treated, and it left us feeling unwelcome and disappointed. After reading through other reviews, it appears that similar experiences have happened to other customers as well, which is unfortunate. Customer service should be a priority, especially for loyal shoppers. We won't be returning, and I would encourage others to consider supporting the many other local businesses in Galveston that appreciate and value their customers.
