This is a grand opening. Came here to try it out. The design is more traditional style and looks beautiful. The service was okay. The food tastes a little salty and sweet. People with heavy taste would like this. The chicken is good but the skin is little salty and hard. Chow mien is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The beef clay pot is the most sweet food. More of Cantonese style cuisine.

Owner changed since I last posted my review: now it's an authentic canto Chinese cuisine for a reasonable price. The lunch special is excellent and value for most order ranging 11.95 which includes soup, rice and an entree. $1 extra for beef brisket dish.

Grand opening. As for now Ambiance: traditional cantonese style design, not too crowded but also not very spacious. Service: brand new place so staff is still trying to figure things out. Food: they dont have the basic 艇仔粥, or the 油條. So kinda disappointed. Gonna have to do a sit down dinner one day. But I ordered the beef congee, a golden double egg fried rice and beef chow-fun noodle. Beef congee, its aiight. The congee isnt fluffed enough so its mediocre at best. Beef Chow-fun, not too greasy pretty good. Definitely had better but this isnt too bad. Golden double egg fried rice, exactly how i expected it to taste. I would say all three dishes had enough stuff in it, they didnt cheap out on ingredients. So will definitely return and try other things. Maybe try the family style.

If you are looking for great taste and value this is the one. Need to go early for lunch as the special soup is limited. Only downside, place is not spacious

Excited that there's going to be more cantonese options on the island. They have steamed rice rolls and bbq selections. They recently had their grand opening and the employees definitely aren't settled in yet which is to be expected. Hopefully once they get adjusted they will be more efficient with packing the orders.

I stopped by with my family to get some porridge and noodles. This restaurant is located on the side with a small lot for cars. We came by around 12pm on a Monday and there were a few tables dining in. The menu was pretty simple. They had a little bit of everything it seemed, but nothing that made me go, I need to eat this. They had 7 types of congee to choose from. The options seemed pretty plain, but we opted for the G2 Pork & Preserved Egg Congee ($6.95), G4 Pig liver & Pork Congee ($6.95), F6 Roasted Pork Rice Roll ($3.75), 2 orders of H4 Fried Dough Sticks ($2/each), and K8 Beef Chow Fun- Gravy ($16.95). The congee was okay. It was kind of watery compared to what I am used to. The Pork & Preserved Egg was more flavorful than the Pig liver and Pork. I usually like Pig Liver more than the pork and preserved eggs but this one had very little pig liver in it. Because it was limited in the pig liver, it made the porridge more bland. The preserved egg really added flavor in the other congee. Considering the price standpoint, the bowl was very big. However, I rather pay more to get a better quality in congee. As for the roasted pork rice rolls, I was a bit disappointed in it. The rice roll was SUPER thick. They did not have a lot of roasted pork it in. When eating rice rolls, you want a thinner roll so it feels almost slippery to pick up, but not so thin that it falls apart. The rice roll had a lot of chewing to it which it really should not have. FYI, the soy sauce for the rice rolls are located on the table for you to put on yourself. The Fried Dough sticks were also a bit of a disappointment. It was cold, not crispy, and super oily. I almost wished they double fried it so there was something more to it than just an oily dough stick. The real winner here was the Beef Chow Fun Gravy style. This dish was tasty, had good flavor, wasn't salty and was actually cooked well. The noodles felt pretty fresh and did not stick together. The beef was soft, not chewy and there was a good amount of it as well. I was told from my family that they only opened a few months ago so maybe they are still adjusting. Hopefully, as they improve on their flavors/cooking style more people will give them a try because this type of cuisine is definitely a want and a need on the island.

Went here on Saturday night dinner. There was a few tables available. There are two big tables and rest small. If you have a big group probably won't fit. We order a couple dishes include claypot. The foods came pretty fast and some what tasty. Would probably come back again and try different foods

(I say hot because I burnt my mouth taking my first bite haha...) I ordered the Beef Lo Mein, which was good but different from other lo meins I usually order because it had a more soupy sauce! That's when we found Lion Dance in Staten Island. Honestly, I didn't expect much because this place is on Staten Island. I've lived here my whole life, and to be real, not a lot of food spots here are that good. I usually go to other parts of NYC to eat. But BOY, WAS I WRONG. I got the pork soup dumplings, lotus leaf steamed rice with beef and broccoli, shrimp siu mai, and a mango green tea with medium sugar and mango jelly. Everything was so good! The biggest surprise was the lotus leaf steamed rice, it had so much flavor and went perfectly with the beef. The portion was big too. The soup dumplings were juicy, the siu mai were fresh, and the mango green tea was super refreshing. Service was quick, the staff was friendly, and the place was clean and nicely decorated. Overall, I loved the food, the vibe, and the service. Definitely coming back and if you're from Staten Island, trust me, this spot is worth checking out!

You enter and tables are right inside. This is probably one of the first most authentic Cantonese places I come across on the island. It is unique in a sense that it tries to accomplish so much and accommodate many populations at the same time. I can't tell you if I should call it a restaurant or cafe. For instance, right when you walk into the restaurant/cafe, you get a sense that if you want to sit down to eat and dine, you can expect services. Though, this is not typically how you'd feel if you were to walk into a Cantonese bakery. In a regular Cantonese cafe, you are not expecting services. Rather, you can buy a cup or milk tea or a Bao, and you can chill and gossip with your friends. To sum up, just know that you will get service if you are getting a meal here. The waitresses are incredibly nice and warm. In the left side of the room or straight ahead from the entrances, there are counters specifically for takeouts . I ordered 1lb roasted pork, Cheung fun, a honey tea, and a Bao. They are pricier than Manhattan and Brooklyn, however, all are incredibly delicious and authentic. I recommend it.

I was asking about reservation, they said it's not needed-the Jade Island is huge! But we called for a reservation... I was very skeptical from the start about Chinese cuisine-not my taste, but my friends repeated about old school, classic Chinese Food! At the start-yes, the place is huge! With different shape tables -from 2 to bigger for 10 and more... Surprisingly, there were still a lot of diners at that late time... I forgot Chinese food totally and opted for a safe option- Fried rice with shrimps- very tasty, not salty..huge portion-took home half of it. We ordered Tofu with veggies-crispy veggies, Bock Choi not over- or under cooked-perfect - and tofu-delicious and family size prefix for 2 -with soups/spring rolls and main-chicken... Size for 2 would definitely feed 3-5 people! Great service, very attentive; -spacious seats, nice ambience - and great prices! Would definitely go again, if my friends decide to eat there.
