Brought my little dog in for a bath and a haircut, the receptionist was nice, but when the groomer finally showed, they told me I could either have his paws and belly trimmed OR they could cut his hair "short". I told them I was confused. Doesn't a haircut require both? Trim paws, belly, and cut his hair after a bath is how I understand dog grooming. The groomer just kept repeating to me with the same words the either/or option with a bit of an attitude and without clarifying at all why it's either-or. In any case, I'm not leaving my dog with someone who has an attitude towards a new customer. I used to be a regular customer for Joyce's before new management took over. Do not recommend Joyce's now. It used to be a much warmer and inviting place where it felt like your dog is in good hands. The new management didn't feel that way. read more

I had always had short haired cats prior to adopting Cosmo, my one year old long haired tabby cat. He isn't the best at grooming himself and he was starting to get little mats in hard to reach places on his belly. I took him in this morning at 9:30 and he was ready to go by 11:30. His mats are gone and he smells so clean. They trimmed his nails, too. He wasn't happy going there but he seems so happy now that his mats are gone and his fur is trimmed up and clean! He smells so good, too! I love that this business keeps track of their client info on little index cards, very old school! Joyce is a sweet person, but what could've improved was Following what the client requested with Dog Grooming. We took our golden retriever for a one and a half inch cut all around and he was returned to us shaved all the way around. I'm beyond disappointed, the owner seemed so kind at first until I get a call from her, worried that my dog was in distress after experiencing a nose bleed. I was worried but didn't think too much about it since the first time we took my puppy to we were very happy with the results. I took them hours to groom and when I received the call they told me it's the first time in her experience to see a dog bleed from their nose from "clipping the nails". Right when I walked in she was on her phone not showing much attention but acting as if she cared by telling us to take him to the vet. When my dog saw me he started crying and running to me, which is so unusual because normally he loves being out. I got so scared when I saw he jumped on my dad and my dads white shirt was all bloody, again trying to convince me it was because he was stressed. I immediately took him to the vet where they took me that's very weird for a puppy to be that distressed and usually those type of nose bleeds are caused by trauma. I was furious and I'm usually so calm because I give people benefit of the doubt but that's so not okay. My puppy has been sad ever since not to mention I noticed yesterday that his left eye was blood shot red, so dark of a color you couldn't see the white of his eye. It wasn't until I read other reviews that I was convinced this was there doing! Please read reviews before going somewhere my dog is only 1 years old and he's so friendly I don't understand what happened but so disgusting. read more

Took my 20 year old cat in for his first grooming ever because his fur had become so matted from not being able to groom himself, and his nails so overgrown, that I wanted to help the poor dude out. I'd been hesitant out of fear of overwhelming him in his geriatric state but Joyce and her staff were very thorough, calming, gentle and loving, and scheduled us for a time when there were no dogs in the salon so as not to traumatize him and our other 15 year old cat. We left both animals and when we picked them up 2 1/2 hours later, their coats had been amazingly de-matted, cleaned and brushed, and their nails shorn. They looked beautiful and were completely relaxed when they got home. It was like a kitty spa day! I will for sure be taking them back on a regular basis to help maintain their coats and nails, but also to help them feel more relaxed and comfortable in their old age. What can I say about this place. I won't write a book, but I will say this is one of the best grooming salons that I have ever taken my Furr baby too. Right when you walk in, the place just seems so light and airy, and they have this cute little "doggy day care area". It is like the owner thought of everything to make the experience that much better. My little Pomeranian came in a mess and looked and smelled so much better when they were done with her. And the price, please you may find cheaper but remember you get what you pay for, and I would rather spend more and make sure my little girl is treated right than to pay less and wonder if she is in good hands. All in all, i will continue to go back this place and suggest you do the same. Oh, and ask for the Latino guy... he does amazing work. Best Groomer in Burbank? I have taken my cats to get groomed (lion cuts) because they are persian for many many years. I have gone to the large pet stores, and to many mom and pop places. I have had bad groomers that have cut my cat and caused injury, to great places that even put cute little bows in their hair and painted their nails.. which I guess is cool, anything that makes my cats look silly is a plus. Joyce's has been completely fine, and I have gone there about 5 times. I have never had any problems with her little place. The schedule has always been open enough unlike some places that I have to wait a month to get in. I have never thought anything negative about Joyce or her services. When you involve pets with service you are going to get over sensitive people, and I think anyone that writes a negative review about Joyce is the same type of people that dress their animals in wedding dresses and have fake pet weddings with neighborhood animals. These people probably even have fake pet divorces just to get money from their neighbors in court. If I had to say one negative thing about Joyce's Salon is that they only take cash, and thats because it costs alot of money to have a credit card machine.. which would make the price of the haircuts go up. Bottom line, great cuts, great price, and Joyce is a nice lady. I would rather pay Joyce for a fine job, then some corporation. I have been here on time before the last time I was here and had a good experience. Joyce called me out of the blue recently "cold calling" and asked if I would like to bring in my dog .he is very well trained and has a good temperament. I brought him in on my appointment time. Which was at one. They didn't finish for over 5 hours. Which means my dog was probably sitting in a kennel. Not fair. When I came to pick up the dog they had me try to hold him so that they could cut his nails. My dog was so stressed out he threw up on me and my new shoes. Never seen my dog like this before. The customer should not have to do part of the job of what they're paying for. Also Joyce is very cold and rude too, I went in here to support a local Business. I took my severely matted Persian to Joyce's for the first time and Joyce and her groomer (I wish I got her name) we're so extremely patient and helpful with Frosty. I won't lie but he's a wicked one and has been practically blacklisted from 2 other groomers in Burbank because nobody could handle his beastly temper. It didn't even take long for them to get out the heavy matts from all over his chest and stomach. When I came to pick him up, I saw Joyce's hands were scratched but she didn't complain once about it.
