Mr. David is silly and friendly, but he still pushes the kids to make sure they become stronger dancers. We do the rec dancing, not competition. At other dance schools, I have felt like the focus is solely on the competition teams, with the rest of the kids just serving as filler. Never the case at Dance Connection! I've also been impressed with how the school began to provide high-end virtual opportunities and socially distant summer camps when this became necessary. They adjusted the common areas in the studio and the classrooms to allow for proper distancing, too. Mr. David worked with the parents to explain the new measures and made sure we feel comfortable. We'll be a Dance Connection family for years to come.

I was passive aggressively body shamed by my dance instructors. All of the larger students were sent to the back of the dance while all the skinnier dancers were in the front. From my perspective, your position in dances was based solely on size and weight and not on skill. I have many friends who also had similar experiences with this dance academy. While I did learn some, I mainly developed the skill of doubting myself in everything I do, specifically dancing. I attended Flair for 4 years, and even after all those years Ms.Amanda, the owner and my instructor for 3 of the 4 years, couldn't remember my name. It was most likely because I was in the back for almost all of the dances I was in and didn't conversate with any of the other dancers besides her favorites. Overall, Flair Dance Academy taught me some dance but overall made me have serious self image issues.
