Joy is great. When FlyCleaners jacked up their prices for laundry to a whopping $1.50 per pound, I sought out other local cleaners who would pickup and deliver, had a more reasonable price per pound, had an app, and did a good job cleaning. Enter Joy Dry Cleaners. You can use the Clothespin app to coordinate pickups and deliveries with Joy Dry Cleaners with a tap or two. The price is an amazing $1 per pound. I am not sure of where they deliver to exactly, but I am 1 avenue and 2 streets away fro the location and they get to me in 10 minutes. Last but not least, the facility they send the clothes to does a good job cleaning. With other locations, sometimes I would get back a load of laundry that didn't even small like they used detergent, or was slightly damp from overloading of the dryers. None of this happens with Joy. I have not had an article gone missing (as far as I can tell), but I have received somebody else's maroon pillowcase. (If it's yours, drop me a line!) I have tried a few other local cleaners in my delivery zone and none of them hit all points on the laundry checklist like Joy Dry Cleaners did. read more

Joy Dry Cleaners - Storefront via Google Maps - Dry Cleaning Near Me - New York, New York

Joy is kind of rude. She's dismissive, doesn't listen to you, and kind of manhandles you when she's measuring you for alterations. There are plenty of tailors in NYC - pick another one. read more

Most important thing: this business has different hours than posted online. They are not worker friendly-- opening at 730am (but not actually) and closing at 545pm. I attached a photo as well. This is super inconvenient. I waited until 8am then I had to leave to be to work on time. I ended up calling, and they said the train was late, but then when asked if they'll be open on time tomorrow, he also blamed the train. They were still really nice on the phone, and after I called, they were there on time the next day. The other thing is that it is so expensive. Maybe it's partly my Texan sensibilities, but everywhere else is charging way less for more. I would honestly try somewhere else, there are about 15 dry cleaners within a 5-10 minute walk from here. read more

Joy Dry Cleaners - Store hours. Closed Sunday. - Dry Cleaning Near Me - New York, New York

So far seem good but I am frustrated by their sporadic hours and seem to be expensive. Two tips: 1. Work on your customer service skills - be mindful of rude unnecessary comments at the front desk - this is NYC people are working hard and rushing often - please be considerate of this. 2. Please stay open to 6 pm on weekdays These tips are for constructive criticism and hopefully can be improved upon. Thank you. read more

Avoid this place. After waiting over 3days for a small wash and fold order, I went to pick it up (well within their normal business hours) and their gate was down and locked with no note on the door and they were not answering the phone. This was particularly frustrating bc I was traveling and had just enough clothes to get me by and was forced to take time out of my busy schedule to buy new last-minute work clothes Then when I finally got my order, everything was horribly wrinkled and poorly folded. Not cool read more

I've always been thrilled with their dry cleaning...for 20+ years. Great attention to detail, mark all the spots...and they're gone, beautifully pressed when they deliver. I recently had them do a curtain and a clothing alteration, and they did a superb job. read more

Though they advertise dry cleaning service, they are NOT DRY CLEANERS! They don't have the facility so they send your items out for dry cleaning. I brought in a men's dress shirt here one Monday morning to get it dry cleaned in advance of attending a wedding on the weekend. I handed the shirt to the man saying I needed it dry cleaned. He said, "regular, hanger?" So said yes, thinking he meant regular dry cleaning for cotton shirts, and sure, I didn't need it box-delivered. I get a ticket which says I can pick it up Wednesday afternoon. That's a bit long for dry cleaning a shirt but ok, I head out. Then I came back Thursday morning and I got a shirt that seemed to be somewhat cleaner but all wrinkly. WTF?!?! I was a bit flabbergasted but didn't have the time to discuss so I left. I called a couple of hours later inquiring about it, and he had the nerve to tell me it was a regular wash and machine press so that I shouldn't have expected anything better. I insisted that I brought it in saying I needed it DRY cleaned. The man responded that he couldn't get that done by Saturday because the dry cleaner they send out items to are closed. Again, WTF? Also, not only did he NOT say sorry but showed no sign of sympathy or sense of responsibility. It's ok though, there are plenty of other launders in this neighborhood. I'll just never be going back to this one. read more

Joy Dry Cleaners - Shirt returned all wrinkly. This, in their opinion is "professional" cleaning & press. Never again. - Dry Cleaning Near Me - New York, New York

There were issues with arranging a pick up. There were issues with the pricing. There were issues with the drop off. There were issues with the cleaning itself. Unfortunately, working with them was not a joy. read more

Apart from what's made clear by the name of the business, Joy Dry Cleaners will also accept your laundry for next-day cleaning and folding, but they don't do tailoring. Basically a Mom and Pop-style operation, they're subject to closing early (or not opening at all) on days with minor disasters including not only rioting and pandemics but also bad weather conditions. Apart from that, they are reliable and the work is done well. read more

The WORST laundry ever! The only reason I've used them is that they're nearby. My clothes have been damp, wrinkled, barely folded, and my socks left for me to sort--6 socks lost. I asked why they can't at least put my socks together, he said "They don't have time." I'm not even sure they use soap. read more

Slightly overpriced for an average dry cleaners. The two stars is for their sporadic hours though. I've showed up plenty of times within their posted "working hours" only to find the place locked up. If there was any other place close to this subway entrance I'd switch in a heartbeat for some consistency. read more

**This review is for delivery/drop-off laundry service only** Having recently moved to the area, I had to wave goodbye to my amazing laundry service in Astoria (Lucky Laundromat, for anyone who lives or is moving to the area) and find a new local laundromat. I chose Joy Dry for their convenient delivery options and relatively reasonable rates, priced at $1 per pound. Unfortunately, I'll never use their laundry service again. When my first load of laundry was delivered to me, I could hardly believe it had actually been cleaned. The clothes did not smell clean and there still marks and stains on several pieces that would have easily come out...had they actually used soap. Items that needed to be line-dried were actually put into the dryer, shrinking some items. My previous cleaner actually read labels and hung things up that could not be put into a dryer. Additionally, the clothes were hardly folded and I had to refold a buch of items before putting them away or hanging them up. A few socks were paired together that were not even matches, and I found one balled up by itself. They did not even bother to unball it and wash it properly. They jus threw it in as is and returned it to me this way. Upon speaking with someone at Joy and expressing my disappointment with their service, they informed me that they send it out to another company to be washed and dried. They also suggested that I provide my own detergent and dryer sheets. I said that I think for $1 a pound that's a little ridiculous I provide my own detergent, wherein she informed me that this was pretty standard pricing int he area. She also let me know that if I didn't like the way the clothes came back, that I should probably just try another laundromat because this is the company they use. Not a problem Joy...not a problem at all. There's a plethora of other delivery services in the area and even if I have to pay a few cents more, I'd rather do that and preserve my clothes than have them returned after being run through water and barely folded. read more

Last review was from awhile ago but I'm shocked at the low star count! I love Joy Dry Cleaning! I bring my clothing from Brooklyn to Manhattan to have them dry cleaned here! Is that crazy?? They do an amazing job and I'm always happy with the results. It brings me peace to know that there won't be wonky iron marks on my collars and my blacks wont come back grey. I've also used them multiple times for alterations and that has been great. I brought designer stuff here to have zippers replaced, seams taken in, and I've been happy. The work is clean and professional. I take away one star cause they are on the expensive side. I would bring more of my alterations here, even the easy stuff, but pricing is not so competitive so I just end up dropping off the complicated pieces. Staff is always super nice and friendly. They also have a dish of Milky Way chocolates. I'm not saying that sways my rating but it definitely doesn't hurt. read more

I've been to Joy Dry Cleaners a few times for dry cleaning and alterations. They are wonderful to work with and so quick if you need something in a rush! Highly recommend! read more

Still going strong at 5 stars! Loyal to this place =) did I mention they have a dog wall!!! Bring your dog and leave an instax photo behind!

Brought 3 shirts in to be drycleaned, 2 had to be redone. I come back the day they suggest for pickup- shirts aren't there. No apology or move to offer customer service. Rude service, sloppy and incomplete- definitely the last time I'm going back. Also- don't go here for tailoring. Quoted 3X that Alteration Experts did- definitely use AE instead. read more

This is a 5 star dry cleaner for sure. They are so upbeat and happy, they take great care of your clothes, and the alteration service is reasonable, fast and impeccable. Grace goes the extra mile every time. read more

PROS: Pricing, friendly service, usually quick pick up and delivery, satisfactory cleaning, good dry cleaning, alterations done on-premise CONS: Laundry isn't done on-site, it definitely doesn't smell clean, the bundle clean clothes that comes looks tightly pressed but most items are sloppily folded, wash-and-fold items are often wrinkled, sometimes they forget I called for a pickup/delivery and I have to call back to remind her I'm still waiting read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. When you drop off clothes, you know that there's a 50% chance they are going to lose some of them and charge you anyway. Everyone on the block knows that this place is horrible and only goes there out of sheer convenience before realizing that it's worth putting in a little effort not to have all of your clothes go missing. Even though my new place is a block farther (nyc gasp!) and slightly more expensive, the difference is cancelled out by the fact that I am no longer losing expensive athletic wear and sentimental t shirts. read more

Abolsutely awful. Dropped off 4 items. 2 of the 4 were not laundered properly and for over 35$$ that's pretty mind boggling to me. I was told a plaid button down needed a shaving AFTER having it dry cleaned. It certainly didn't look like that before. Now it's has weird lumps of fabric all over it that make it look cheap... Secondly a white V neck shirt came back with black thread interlaced in it. I walked out of the store with it before noticing and immediately returning. I was absolutely appalled they didn't notice it and managed to mess up laundering a white shirt. They then pulled out a lint roller and tried to get the black thread out. They did this after I told them to STOP!!! DON'T LINT ROLL THE SHIRT because of the material it's made from but yet they continue and pull more material out making it look worse. They said they would launder the white shirt BUT WOULD NOT REFUND ME. DO NOT GO HERE. I haven't even looked at the other two items yet God help me. read more

Got the zipper on my winter parka replaced here. It was a good experience and quality job, only took a few days and was cheaper than other places I'd called. read more

Friendly Staff, Low Prices and Dependable Delivery!! I get my men's shirts laundered/ironed here w/o starch. I've had no button failures and at $2/shirt, it's a good deal in this neighborhood. They deliver for free and have a 2-3 day turnaround time - works for me since I have a lot of shirts. They take AMEX, have electronic records and seem more organized than most. read more

I'm not sure why I come back when they charge me $12-13 for a pair of pants dry cleaned. The first time because I pointed out some areas to focus on, not because there are stains, but they still charge me $12 for the same pair of pants, sans anything on it. It's next to where I live and the lady is friendly, but I can send out for cleanly and get delivery, drop off, and it's still cheaper. Note to self... read more

After going to an alteration place nearby and getting charged a huge fee for two outfits, and being told that it took two weeks for it to be altered, I decided to leave to try another store. On my way to the train station to another tailor uptown, I saw a little sign that said "Dry Cleaners" and, lo and behold, there was a sewing machine in the showcase. I stepped inside and Joy, I presume, took my measurements. I went in, they did their thing and two days later I have a romper and a dress that fit like they were made for my body. Try them; I'm not sure how they are with dry cleaning but for alterations at affordable prices in the city, they are the best! read more

Their hours are inconsistent. They close and open whenever they like. I have been trying to pick up my dry cleaning for a week and the shop is always closed. Saturday's they should open at 8am, at 8:45 they still were not open. Don't trust this business with your clothing. read more

The last time I dropped stuff off it was expensive ($150 for 4-5 pieces) and the clothing came back looking the same (no stains removed, no fresh smell, no signs of cleaning). I went back wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt and very kindly asked the woman if we could make sure the dress I was dropping off could come back feeling clean (not even worried about the stains!!). The man interjected asked me to "shut up and listen" and went on a long speech letting me know that the clothing would come back the same and they would absolutely not do anything to it. Rude, expensive, and don't fix or clean the clothing properly at all. I have had other alterations done with them and their jobs last 1-2 uses Its so poorly done It comes unstitched. I kept going back since they are the closest in my neighborhood and wanted to support but treating me unkindly when I was nothing but respectful and asking for the bare minimum is unacceptable. Do not waste your money with them! read more

Total rip-off. Charged me $40 just to add a new zipper piece -- not even replace the full zipper. Don't bother.

They do not consistently open at their opening time. They do not answer their phones and when you call multiple times trying to get through, they put the phone off the hook and give you a busy signal. They're untrustworthy. read more

After moving to 21st street - what would seem to be so close - is a world away. I have disliked all 4 of the dry cleaners I have gone to within a block of my house. I'm about to venture out to a block and a half to try to find someone more like Joy. Nothing compares to the service and quality and they have redefined for me what it means to be a 5 star dry cleaning business. These ladies really run a GREAT Business and I miss them and their professionally and friendly attitude. I love popping by when in the neighborhood, and my dog misses them too. read more

Takes credit card (including Amex) timely pick up and delivery, does good work. They occasionally miss a patch-job or a mending-job that I request (hence 4 stars instead of 5) but this only really happens when I drop off big orders. Hope they keep it up. read more

Beware! Joy Dry Cleaners badly damaged the cuffs of two of my white shirts. While they made every effort to try to fix the shirts (I should give them credit for that), they have been unable to do so and are now refusing to pay for their screw up. The woman who manages the store told me that the pressing machine at her dry cleaning plant is broken and, consequently, has been damaging and burning her customers' shirts. According to her, "it costs too much to fix" so she is not going to do anything about it. This is, of course, a ridiculous and short-sighted approach to business, not to mention a complete violation of the duty that Joy Dry Cleaners owes their customers who trust them with cleaning their clothing. read more

Love this place and the friendly people that work there! Very accountable and deliver on time. Clothes come back in great shape and they make it all so easy! They also always have candy and a great smile read more

took WEEKS to get my clothes back, and they came back damaged. Would NOT recommend ever coming here. Took forever (stopped in the store 4 times before getting everything back) and didn't even come out good :( read more

Pros: Joy Dry Cleaners is a well run operation. I have not had any issues of damage clothes and if anything came back in an unsatisfactory condition, it was easy to get it cleared up. The employees are pleasant to deal with. Cons: I don't find them to be reliable with opening at the scheduled hour of 7 AM. They frequently open 15 to 20 minutes late which, if on a tight schedule, is not good business. Overall, this is one of the best places in the area. read more

Awesome service, I've gotten many pieces tailored here before and can't be happier with the results.

I was recommended to this cleaners by a friend of a friend who had gotten her wedding dress altered there. I was super nervous bringing my dress in to get hemmed. However, they hemmed it for $60 in a week. The work was impeccable. I definitely recommend! read more

Rude and unethical. We dropped off our wash and fold, and he made us separate whites and darks into two bags but didn't tell us he would charge the 10 pound minimum for each bag. Our darks were 9 pounds but the whites were only 3 pounds -- and he didn't give us a receipt listing the price because he was in a hurry to close. We were shocked when we picked up our small small bag of laundry the next day and it cost $25. We never would have separated it into two if he hadn't told us to. When we asked him about this charge, it was about 5:50 p.m. and he rudely said he was trying to close (again) and that we were causing him to miss his train. I asked what time they close and he said 5:30 p.m., but their hours on the door say they close 6 p.m. While we were polite but firm in our conversation with him, he was rude, dismissive and clearly cared more about closing the shop early than making their scam practices right with us. We live right across the street but will go elsewhere. Don't reward scam business owners who don't care about customer service just because they are close -- go somewhere else. read more

I love these ladies. They are always so nice to us and our dog. They have never lost anything. Everything just comes back smelling great and looking good! read more

These cleaners are nice and friendly until you have an issue. I had been sending mine and my husbands cleaning there ever week for several months . One week I gave them a $500 dress to alter for me and they completely ruined my dress to the point that it cannot be repaired or salvaged in any way. I know mistakes happen and was open to seeing how they wanted to handle it. I was stunned when the lady accused me of "making up stories" and finally when I told her I would take my business somewhere else she told me to go right ahead and do that. This is just not customers should be treated and there are plenty of other cleaners in the neighborhood. read more
