This review is for the great experience I had when I called Tony's Toolbox to request an…read moreappointment for an estmate. I need to fix a ceiling leak and determine why it is there! I feel that you can tell a lot about a company by talking to the person who answers the phone. Amber quickly inspired confidence in my choice of choosing this company to contact. She answered the phone immediately, was professional and listened to me carefully. She set up an appointment when Tony could visit. And she explained Tony would text me the day of the appointment with the window of time he would be arriving. Love organized and efficient. As per his word, Tony texted me and gave me a 4 to 5:00 p.m. window and showed up on time. For the next hour Tony evaluated the situation by getting a very close look at the problem area. He then went up into the attic for a closer inspection. When he came back he had pictures on his phone and explained what was going on. As it turns out there is an open area in the roof where rain water can get in. This likely created the spot that has now formed. He said it was fixable and would send me an estimate via email. If I agreed with the estimate, I would be added to his schedule. (Luckily this is a very slow leak and the ceiling spot is small.) Tony was professional, knowledgeable, and I was very pleased with choosing him out of many other people. The estimate was received the next morning! I absolutely felt it was fair and reasonable. He is a popular guy. I have a month's wait. As an aside: My neighbor was present during Tony's visit. He was so impressed with Tony that he asked for his business card. I love supporting a local, independent, and family-owned business. Thanks, Tony and Amber. See you soon.

The open area was in an obscure spot; he had to creatively think of a solution, which he did. He replaced the light bulb in the ceiling fixture. I contacted him on Thursday and he was here on Monday. Thank you, Tony!! (and Amber, his wife for setting up the appointment)

He misplaced the new timer instructions he used while "milking" the 4th hour @ $60/hr for a tiny yard, 400sq ft & side, approx 200sq ft. Timer was not set to engage, so the plants began to dry up after a week of heat. In addition, he hooked up a garden hose in between the 2nd line & timer. When he was asked to come back & set it correctly, he hung up & texted crazy ramblings, including profanity. He charged $280 for what a teenager could have done responsibly for $50. The disturbing part is his temper because he knows where we live, but people should be warned about Charles Hernadez of Placerville, CA. The text messages below were between him & a widow in her 60s. A ZERO star is not an option here.

Charles Hernandez inadvertently arrived a day early, but that was okay. I had to leave for an appointment, he had 2 doors installed before I  left and they looked fine. He finished before I  arrived back home and texted me that he was done, could he meet me at his house for payment? I did and went home. Paying him before seeing the finished job was a mistake. The last 3 doors were poorly set. They are too shallow on one side, too deep on the other making it impossible to install door trim. I let him know the problem,  sending detailed photos. To wrap this up he said the drywalls installer had made the mud too deep. Actually,  the mud is paper thin. Also, the walls and  openings are plumb. I asked for $200 of the $420 I paid him to be refunded. His final response "There is nothing wrong with what I did. So good luck and stop bothering me." Maybe he thought he could get away with shoddy work because I'm a 62 year old widow... If you choose to use him, keep an eye on his craftsmanship and make sure it's right before paying.
