$15 Lemon Pepper Wings with Fries

We went to Josephine Lounge to celebrate my friend's birthday Friday night. Typically, the cover for this location is free for ladies (sometimes free for everyone) before 11 PM, and $20 after 11 PM. Last Friday, they were charging $30-$40 to get in due to an unknown "celebrity guest" that was performing. We always check Eventbrite in advance before going because you can register for free entry tickets or prepay to save money on the cover at the door. We ended up saving $10 per person by using the Eventbrite tickets. It took a few minutes for the staff at the door to verify our tickets, but there was no issue with redeeming them. After our experience this weekend, I would not recommend that you pay to get in here, period. The place is spacious with lots of seating. We did notice that our booth had some torn "leather". They encourage bottle service, but it is not required. When you arrive early, you can sit in a section for free if you order food, drinks and/or hookah. This is what we usually do because we tend to order a drink or two per person, food and at least one hookah. Our server was a sweetheart! However, we were shocked to see that the prices have went up since the pandemic. Hookah is $77, when it used to be $40. Wings and fries are $15 for 8 wings, when it used to be $11 for a 10 piece (the fries used to be an additional $3-$5). The lemon pepper wings are good, and I do recommend them if you order food. I like that they deliver the food in closed to go boxes (pandemic-friendly). The beef suya is AWFUL now! They charged $14 for a small (think American Deli side of fries size) box of "SUYA" that has absolutely no seasoning (salt) and a little bit of white onions and red peppers. It tasted like unseasoned beef. It used to be $11, a larger portion and seasoned to perfection. A Voss bottle of water was $7 now (it used to be $4) and they do not let you order free tap water with your food! The margaritas are $16 (they used to be $13). The music selection was mostly r&b hits, rap and Tiktok Challenge hits, but the djay kept cutting off the good songs after 15 - 30 seconds of play all night. It was annoying. He DID NOT pick up on the audiences' reaction to his music selections. The "celebrity guest" artist and his entourage (of like 40 people) came in after 1 AM to "perform" for us. It was underwhelming. The artist threw between $50 - $100 in ones on the floor, and I proudly scooped up about $30 myself while dancing because he did it near the section that we were in. Some of the servers and bottle girls were RUDE to us after this! A random waitress came over to me and said "That's my tip", so I gave her some of the money back, although I know that she was lying. My thing is this! Josephine is not a strip club, so I am sure the artist would not disrespectfully throw an actual tip on the ground as he was "rapping". The man threw the money to the crowd, so why LIE and say that it is your tip. The lounge and employees are clearly pressed for money and it shows, respectfully. Then, we were gifted two bottles from other people that we met that night, because we are social and friendly. One girl that was also celebrating her birthday and two men that paid for bottle service and invited us to sit with them in paid sections and they left early and gave us their bottles. It happens. A waitress took my friend's open bottle of Hennessey and told her that she could not keep it because the guy that paid for the section left. It did not make sense with that reason. You cannot resell the open liquor, and after the other waitress wanted me to give her money that was clearly up for grabs by anyone in reach, it made me realize that the place is going downhill fast. Also, one of the servers dropped my leftover food, making it spill on the floor, so I was not able to take home the food that I paid for and did not finish. I am not sure if it was an accident or not because I did not see it fall, but after the other two encounters, I wouldn't be surprised. Overall, I recommend that management have a discussion with their servers, bottle girls and staff about customer service ASAP. They should consider bringing back International Fridays with the lit DJAYs because both djays were not hitting AT ALL. It was not just us that felt this way. I was talking to a girl in the restroom who came from Texas to celebrate her best friend's bday after reading Yelp reviews and bought a section. They did not enjoy themselves either for similar reasons including the music. I would love to see this fixed, so that we can come back and enjoy the vibes and not feel like we overpaid for a mediocre experience. The Caribbean music/Afrobeat was IT. Maybe this was a bad night, but IDK. I have been coming here for years and the difference was not good. I am not sure if it is the pandemic that caused changes or the new staff. We made the most of the experience, because we know how to have fun regardless. I hope they improve soon.

Gratuity ridiculous.. Then they want a tip too!

Mondays crab leg special $10. Come early enough you can get a free section. My date & I sat at a table..not section & still charged gratuity! Only up side for me was karaoke. Service was spotty as we had to keep finding the server. $5 drinks were less than a shot. I expect this from a wanna be fancy club but on a Monday?? I doubt I'll drive this way again.

Arrival before 11pm and still charged $20 per person for group of 5

They advertise everyone is free before 11, but they still charged our group of 5 $20 per person. That alone should have made us not want to stay and spend money but we decided to give them a try anyway *eye roll. Then the ho od rat bartender with b b l screamed at us to move out of the way so the couple that purchased a $5 hookah can stand at the bar and smoke. So instead of us spending $100 per round of drinks, this place would rather hold space for hookah's that lasts 2+ hours. Not everyone who owns a business knows how to run a business. Stop spending money in "lounges" that charge 500% markup for a bottle of alcohol just so you can sit down. Go to other places ! Edited to correct typo of time correction - 1 to actually 11. Attached is Lyft ride arriving before 11 and no one was in line. And to the owner, thanks for the offer. We won't be returning until there are honest people working the entry door and the bartenders stop acting like we are bothering them by ordering drinks. ( the tiny light skin bartender with long braid, barely made eye contact and never smiled, but she wasn't rude. Probably just needed coffee to wake up )

This is a spot I had been hearing about for a while so on a Saturday night my friends and I came through. Josephine's is located smack dead in the middle of a shopping center off of buford highway. There is Valet parking for $10 or you can park further down in the shopping centers parking lot for free. We arrived around 11pm and it was still free to get in, the place was not crowded at all. The ambience was chic and trendy, I was not expecting such a nice lounge based on the outside appearance, it was a pleasant surprise. The bartender told us if we bought a hookah she could get us a place to sit so we opted to purchase drinks and a hookah and was seated in the middle of the spot near the DJ booth. The DJ played a little bit of everything due to it being international night, I was so confused at times but since I planned on having a good time I just went with it. I heard reggae, soca, hip hop, what sounded like African music, I think I heard some techno and country music as well but don't quote me on the last two. By 1am the place was crowded and even I was on the floor dancing. I didn't get the opportunity to try the food but next time I definitely will.

You know the turn up is real when the shoes come off.

I've been here twice and it was amazing on both occasions. It's located in a huge parking lot, so parking is no problem. Security at the door is friendly (and I didn't mind their multiple compliments). You see the bathroom as soon as you walk in, which I took as "Before you proceed HERE'S where you'll go if you can't hold your liquor, can't hold your tongue, or can't hold your weave on!!!". The setup is very open which allows room to get up and dance. There are booths along the wall as well as a few sections with leather couches on the floor with space around them. Further in there's an open dance floor (MORE DANCING !!!!). The DJ is up high in the center of the largest wall. Perfect for the DJ to interact with the crowd. Both times that I went the DJ was the LIFE of the party! He called out people specifically (I was one of them ) and that makes party goers feel good and gets us even MORE into a party mood. I don't drink but my friends had no complaints about their drinks. We also had bottles on ice in our section. And the hookah comes in several flavors from fruity to minty. The servers are beautiful. Nails done. Hair done. Showing just enough boobage . And they stop by the table often to check on you. I went during the week and it looked like a Saturday night. This is great for those of us who usually work weekends. I loved it. My friends loved it. I WILL be returning.

The only reason they are getting 2 stars is because of the amazing quesadillas I had with fries. Great food! But this isn't a restaurant so let's get into it: To park within the cones in the shopping plaza it's $10. I simply parked outside of the cones FOR FREE lol. Get in line to get a full TSA frisk down. I didn't pay a cover. Walked in and it was a very awkward entrance. It doesn't just open up, there's a big black busted up wall to greet you. To your right is a seating area and THEN you get into the actual lounge. The music was trash, I think the DJ was stuck in 2003 because I legit remember being in middle school when those songs came out it was passport Saturday so I was expecting some international hits. I'm so glad we didn't reserve a section because we got there early enough to get seating for free and I would have been HIGHLY pissed if I paid for that. The service was good, people did come check on me and my girls throughout the night. Overall I would never come back..but OH the bathroom was nice and had great lighting for my selfies that I took out of boredom lol

She has such a bad attitude and the owner allows it.

This server is going to Single-handedly shut this place down. She has such a bad attitude and the owner allows it. Don't get me wrong the Owner was very accommodating when he showed up but the fact that he lets her work here with her terrible attitude is beyond me.

Came here Friday the 17th of July and The crowd was kind of sketch.. in the clubs defense I was gold I came on a bad night and with COVID many people were staying in. The music was on point, they played regular hip hop and switched over to Afro beats which is the only reason we came a The manager was accommodating allowing us to sit down at a booth and providing us with complimentary drinks. The scene and decor is really nice.

Afrobeats on repeat, of course! This was everything to me because I've been to caribbean spots out here that play hip hop and r n b, constantly. Neon lights and leather seats paired with a chic backdrop does it every time. Service: The server and bartender was extremely friendly! I wish I got her name. We were greeted on entering and she came over immediately and helped us out. She even gave great suggestions about the menu and what to order. The young woman who is serving was also just as friendly! She came over, spoke to us, and checked on us, just as much as the server did. She also waited for us to get food before giving us the hookah because the timing between getting surfer both was very close for service 10 out of 10 would recommend lol #Keith Food I personally had the pepper soup with Jollof rice. The rice substitution was suggested by the waitress, and I am so happy I took her advice. My other friends had pepper soup but one and ordered the egusi soup and pounded yam which she said more than hit the spot lol! She said it was cooked and seasoned perfectly and had more than enough to take home. Jollof Rice: the rice was season to perfection and cooked perfectly. It was different from the jollof rice that you would get from a Nigerian or Ghanaian restaurant. You have to remember that this is Senegalese based food! So don't expect the same thing. However, it is just as flavorful and just as good. Pepper soup: The soup was full of flavor, and the heat from the pepper did not overcome the other seasonings. The meat fell off the bone although initially I thought I would need a bigger portion of meat , it was more than enough, when paired with the food. In fact, I was able to get two meals out of this one. As promised it opened up my pores but there weren't any tears . The soup is more of a broth consistency hence the reason it paired well with the rice. You could try it with pounded yam but I would imagine it would be too watery.

As far as entrees go look to be on the high end, which doesn't shock me. I guess. Maybe not the super high end but having a couple of margaritas and a bunch of tacos shouldn't cost you like $60. To be fair. I did get six tacos, but still LOL. Again, I sat at the bar and it was okay. Bar service really wasn't super fast at all (which is why I couldnt give it a higher rating), which I couldn't understand because it wasn't even crowded. But it was just something to note.

I opted to park at the Wal-Mart and wasn't as familiar with the trail so I took the street route. Well-light and populated for safe crossing. The venue is very open and was relatively empty since we arrived shortly after it opened. I love the indoor seating concept with plenty of couches, movable chairs, tables near the open-area space and smaller sections for 2-4 people tucked away along the wall. The DJ was already doing his thing and the bartenders remained busy. As someone who wasn't interested in the drinks, I appreciate that there was a self-serve water cooler in the center of the room. The Jenga and jumbo Uno cards were a hit!!!! It was so nice to have these options available. And as others mentioned, the large screen was playing a classic movie - which we could still see from inside. I didn't stay long and this was a Sunday night but the parking lot was much busier when I left. I imagine the outdoor space gets crowded later in the evening as well. The DJ was just okay - not my cup of tea - but folks seemed to be enjoying themselves. I can definitely see why this place is popular. Although parking is less than desirable, it is not unreasonable. The venue is well-lit and easy to move around. The crowd was diverse, with various ages and backgrounds represented. And depending on the DJ, this would be a great place for meeting with friends, date night or just zoning out to some wonderful music ... especially on a beautiful night. If you're in the mood for something different AND don't mind the trek to Chamblee, check it out.
