Big dog side
Bob L.

The small dog side is tiny. The big dog side is a little better. It looked well manicured. There was no free parking that I saw.

Quite a nice park to go and take your kids to. Not sure if they are pet friendly as I didn't see anyone with dogs or anything of the sort, but this is great for kids. The slides and play structures are quite new and they are in good condition. Not only that, they have shades to protect from excessive sunlight and it serves as a rain cover as well, so you don't have to worry about your kids getting too wet if the rain comes. I didn't do the whole loop while walking, but I noticed that they had exercise equipment. I was able to at least see a pull up bar and a tricep dip station. Great for keeping yourself busy! Parking is street parking and it's free! The area is very accessible and well maintained. I can see myself bringing my child here more often.

This is my very first time at Joseph Scavo Park since it has been renovated, and I have to say, it's a nice and peaceful place to come and enjoy the sunny Florida weather, exercise, or play activities with your kids or friends. The landscape is large with plenty of trees and metal benches which could be perfect for picnics, or you could use the picnic areas provided. Plus there are plenty of squirrels running around and they are not afraid of people. I witnessed a squirrel taking some nuts out of an elderly man's pocket...that was totally cute. There are lots of things to at Joseph Scavo Park. There's a basketball court, and a playground equipped with swings, slides, monkey bars, and a see-saw. For the fitness person, the park has numerous exercise equipment for you to do row/push ups, cardio steps, squats, ab crush/leg lifts, chest/back presses, plyometrics, pull up/dips, and/or stretches. You can also leisurely walk, run, or bike ride along the park's long pathway. There are two separate dog parks. One for large dogs and one for small dogs, so your four legged friend can have their fun/exercise too. The park fills up pretty fast after the sun goes down from the nearby residents. Parking along the park is limited so I'd advise to try to come a bit early in the day. I definitely enjoyed my time at Jospeh Scavo Park and will return to have even more fun.

I love this park! Sweat and have fun at the same time your kids are safe around the playground. Bring along some peanut in shells as the squirrels are friendly enough to ask for a munchie:) Hallandale made a great effort here for the community. And the city employeee keep the area clean.

Nice dog park. There are actually two parks: for small dogs and large dogs.

Nice park. The dogs have two fenced areas for small and large dogs, where they can play without a leash. It's even has a drinking fountain for dogs. We come here all the time. The area is clean with a nice shade from a few large trees.

Great park, everything is new, enough space for kids to run around. Field, slopes, tracks and much more.

In 2005 City Park was changed to honor Peter Bluesten who was the founder and publisher of the Hallandale Digest. Mr. Bluesten was a WWII veteran who moved to Hallandale from New Jersey in 1946 and he founded the paper in 1963. He took the paper from a one sheet advertisement to a widely read and respected paper that chronicled the history and growth of the city. It was a hometown paper that the community relied on. Mr, Bluesten was very involved with youth sports in the city. He passed away in 1996. The park was redesigned by Craven Thompson & Associates Inc. and the remodeled 16.5 acre Peter Bluesten Park opened to the public on September 28, 2019. One of the highlights is the park's Aquatics Center which has a 25-meter by 25-yard competition style pool with eight lane short course section for high school swim competitions and recreational interactive water features. The pool was designed to meet all of the requirements for USA Swimming. The multipurpose main pool has a large learn-to-swim area, a dedicated water aerobics area, and a beach entry. Both pools are design-built concrete pools with deck level overflow gutter systems. There is also a 1,800 sq. ft water playground with an elevated play structure, which includes multiple decks, slides, rain buckets, water cannons, dancing floor jets and water curtains. Other park amenities include The Hallandale Beach YMCA, an artificial Safeshell turf soccer field, three baseball fields, concession stand, outdoor stage, playground, tennis, basketball, bankshot basketball, racquetball, walking path, and support buildings. The city uses the park for a number of events like their annual Easter Egg Hunt and Movies Under the Stars. If there is one small drawback to Peter Bluesten Park it is that it does not have a parking lot. You have to pay by app and park on the street. Other that that this is a really amazing park with something for everyone to enjoy.

In honor of one the areas most beloved residents, Hollywood Commissioners voted to rename the park after him in 1999. The park was originally named Yankee Clipper after DiMaggio's nickname but after his death his family requested the name change. It is a fitting honor for someone who gave so much to the community even lending his name for a world class children's hospital. Today you can stroll the same paths Joe DiMaggio used to enjoy. The park has a paved exercise path that runs around the perimeter of picturesque lakes. Along the way are fitness stations that use your body weight to work out. There is also a large shade covered playground for kids to enjoy. The real delight of this park are the extensive paths which are ideal for exercise like running and walking and for kids to safely ride a bike and skate on. The outer loop is .81 miles and the inner loop is .40 miles. This park is also excellent for bird watching as the lakes attract a number of species of birds. Just be sure to keep dogs away from the edge of the water. Last summer a crocodile was caught in the park before being relocated. This park is really pretty and beloved by the community just as its namesake Joe DiMaggio was.

The bridge is also a popular location to fish.
