Dr Joe is amazing!!!! He saved my bridge, does excellent work, could t recommend more!

I used to drive about an hour just to see Dr. Hwang because he's truly the first dentist that made me feel comfortable and safe under his care. When I first went into his office, I had a good 20 something years of horrifying dental experiences. From my first dentist who forced spreaders into my little mouth and likely caused my TMJ, to the dentist who was so careless, inattentive (and just plain evil) that she attempted to do a root canal on me after my anesthetic wore off (not even asking if I felt pain) and without her assistant present to suction the blood and debris because she was too impatient to wait for her return from break. (The end result of which was me choking and spitting up the pool of blood that had formed in the back of my throat all over my own shirt and not receiving so much as an apology, just an expression of irritation.) I digress, Dr. Hwang is the exact opposite of that. You never feel like you're one of 10 plates the dentist is spinning, running from one room to the next to maximize patient count for $$$. Instead, you meet genuinely kind reception, a calm atmosphere, modern equipment and a dentist with great skill and gentle hands who always seems fully attentive and explains everything to you thoroughly. You won't be aimlessly sitting in the dental chair for hours waiting for him to return while your anesthetic wears off. Instead, you'll have quick, gentle treatment and consultation on your options. Some of my biggest dental regrets are the bad dental work I received at various dentists before I discovered Dr. Hwang. Unfortunately, I don't have insurance anymore so I had to find a medi-cal dentist and thankfully I did eventually find one I love, but every so often I'll get a birthday e-mail from Tri Valley Aesthetic and look back fondly and wish I could return and someday I think I will. I had to find a new dentist for my 86 year old mother who changed insurance at the beginning of the year. This office is 5 stars all around. - Warm and receptive voice on the other end while making the appointment for her. - Easy access to fill out medical forms online prior to visit - Inviting welcome upon entering the office for a visit with friendly people that acknowledge you and have a conversation like you a their friend - Dr. Hwang did my mom's visit and cleaning and she was so very happy with his kind, gentle demeanor. He didn't tell her she needed a bunch or work done that she didn't need. They chatted about Heritage Estates across the street with many patients from there. - Very clean inside with an inviting feel walking in the door I can't tell you how much I appreciate this office and how they made my mom feel so at ease and welcome. I switched to Dr. Hwang a year ago when I was suffering from a root canal infection and not able to get an appointment with my original dentist early enough to look into it. Dr. Hwang not only fitted me into his schedule, he also took care of it right away. He provided a detail explanation of the situation to make sure I am comfortable and understand the procedure. I have been to many dentists over my lifetime. Some were good, some were not, but the care I received from Dr. Joe at Tri-Valley Aesthetic in Livermore was excellent. His staff is personable and professional, always pleasant. He is compassionate, has a real awesome personality, great customer service, extremely thorough ...but best of all, the work he did on my teeth was flawless... beautiful. I used to dread going to the dentist but not anymore, there was no pain when he worked on my teeth, he was very gentle and there was soft music playing in the back ground, creating a calm and peaceful environment. My visit with Dr Joe was great! I highly recommend him to all my family members and friends & if you're looking for a dentist who is knowledgeable, sincere, and gentle then you need to come here! I started bringing my mom here and Dr Joe and his staff did an amazing job at keeping my mom comfortable and at ease. My mom needed a lot of dental work & over the years neglected to go because of her fear of being in the dental chair but Dr Joe showed true compassion and care and now my mom is a lot less fearful than before! I've also started seeing him for my check ups and I love the way he goes over X-rays with me and explains treatment. Five stars for Dr. Hwang! I am a total whimp when it comes to going to the dentist, Dr. Hwang put me at ease, he is so very caring and gentle. He also gave me the impression that he is not trying to be a used car salesman, he gave me information regarding different approaches to some extractions that I had done and what would be the best for my situation, he really wants what is best for the patient. When I first called I was actually having some anxiety in calling since doctors and dentists have always scared me and my last extraction from another dentist didn't go as well as I would have liked. The receptionist here was very reassuring in Dr. Joe's expertise. They had an open spot the same day that I was reluctant to take because I hadn't completely convinced myself that I was ready to do this. She helped me move forward to at least talk to Dr. Joe and go from there. Dr. Joe explained everything carefully and treated me with respect. My extraction went much better than I had anticipated. I was scared going in but they quickly made me feel comfortable right down to what kind of music I liked to listen to. Dr. Joe calmly explained everything he was doing which really calmed me down. I can't say enough about Dr Joe, his staff, and his services...but I'm going to try! Years ago, after a number of less-than-ideal dentist visits, I was just done. It had gotten so bad that I would have back spasms while in the dentist chair, and experience intense anxiety before an appointment. I do not have the best teeth however, so swearing off dentists forever wasn't such a smart idea. Five years later, I found I'd been grinding my teeth at night, which resulted in some serious damage to my back teeth, and a seriously painful case of TMD. I couldn't stand the jaw pain any longer and knew I had to see someone. Dr Joe came highly recommended from a person who had worked for Dr Joe, and previously for other dentists in the area. He knew I'd rather stick forks in my eyes than go to a dentist, so I trusted this person thoroughly with his suggestion of Dr Joe. I took a deep breath and made an appointment for a "meet and greet". Jenna the receptionist: awesome! A great first contact. Warm, welcoming, and a wizard with insurance questions. Dr Joe is an educator, and passionate about not only oral health, but general health. After my first visit -- where he simply helped me get past the pain of the TMD -- I was armed with knowledge about sleep studies, apnea, bad bugs (bacteria), and preventative actions for pain relief...as well as an appointment to come back and start dealing with my other teeth issues. That visit started the road to recovery for my teeth. Since then, I have had a root canal, a tooth extracted, crowns replaced, and cavities filled. I have an implant in my future, and a sleeping device to help with the bruxism. And I am delighted! I'm feeling so much better in general, and I'm so relieved to have found a dentist that actually makes it a pleasure to visit. Dr Joe is conservative and practical in is recommendations. I don't feel like he's pushing me into treatments I don't need. He is gentle and respectful and just The Best Dentist ever. He is also very honest about what is needed (and whether it's urgent or can wait.) I've had the same dentist for over 15 years and I was nervous about finding a new dentist after my previous one closed his practice. After getting some work done at a different dental office and having some concerns and pain after the work got done, I came to Dr. Hwang for a second opinion. The honesty and professionalism of Dr. Hwang is truly amazing. I felt so encouraged and relieved after hearing his opinion and deciding to continue my dental care with his office. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. He is 100% on your side and 100% open and honest about what NEEDS to be done and why. If I could give 10 stars.. I would! It has been about 8 months since trying out Dr. Hwang's services, I have been there multiple times, my daughter and wife have been there as well. Several positive experiences have caused me to update my review. It is still a solid "5", but details that need to be known have occurred. My daughter was skeptical, as she does not favor dentists. Dr. Hwang and Jenn made her feel comfortable, and even orchestrated getting her wisdom teeth removed. Smooth as silk. Happy kid. Happy kid = Happy family. My wife had her preventative work done, then complained of a couple of crooked teeth. Dr. Hwang recommended a fitted mouth piece to straighten them out. Again, we were a bit skeptical, but it is working, and fast! My wife is sold on this office. Happy wife = 10 more years of life for husband (me). As for me, I hate flossing. I do not lie and say I do it. I floss 2x per year: each day before my dentist visit. Come on, most of you do it but aren't honest about it! But after Dr. Hwang pried a steak sandwich out of my mouth, he recommended me using a water blasting contraption called a Hydroblast. He figured that since I never floss, this would be a better option than not. Before I used this thing I actually lost a bad breath contest to my 2 dogs. It has been a few months since I purchased this thing from his office. My daily routine includes one water tank load with a capful of Listerine added, then I refill it when done and turn the pressure up to finished the job and clean out the Hydroblast. Bottom line, my mouth has never felt so sanitized and healthy. One last issue. My previous dentist (Yes,a popular practice right here in Livermore) constantly pushed products, insisted that my bridge needed to be replaced, it went on and on. Each of these issues I did address with Dr. Hwang. He very professionally refused to talk down the other dentist, but showed me and proved to me that these things did not need to be done at this time. He saved me huge bucks. HIGHLY recommended. I'm a phobia patient when it comes to dental work, and while I understand that nobody enjoys a visit like that, I'm pretty bad since I haven't seen a dentist in years! This Dentist, Dr. Hwang, accidentally fell into my lap, and somehow convinced me to let him get my mouth healthy again. He promised we will take baby steps, at my own pace. He's held true to that promise so far. He's been extra gentle, even with his approach using novacaine. Dr. Hwang did a gentle cleaning on my teeth today so I would have a positive experience in his chair, while scenting the room with the faint smell of lavender to relax me. Another great quality about this doc is that he's not running a drive-thru McDonalds. Just the opposite....he wants to have families come to his office, and he wants to be there for them, even when he's needed for emergencies. They will work out payment plans with you also if your insurance doesn't cover everything. If your looking for new dentist, who is extra gentle and extra caring, you will NOT go wrong with Dr. Hwang. I don't care where you live, he's worth the drive people!! I have NO problem giving this guy 5 stars!! I'm SO happy to have found him. read more

I've have always been very nervous and anxious when going to the dentist and have always had poor experiences but Dr. Joe made me feel comfortable. I needed tons of work and wanted my teeth straightened but always pushed it off. Dr. Joe helped me get all my work done & I was able to get Invisalign. This is by far the best dentist I have ever been to- he is knowledgable, caring and very thorough. The office is always warm & welcoming with flexible scheduling .
