I went to Jose Locos last night for the first time, and gotta say, I have found my new favorite Mexican Joint in town! The singe, decor and menus are all very modern, warm and comfortable. The restaurant is extremely clean and the staff was fast, polite and welcoming. But the true highlight, as it should always be, was the food! Although it's not exactly a traditional Mexican item, I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak-rito. It is an instant favorite, and I could tell by the way my waitress smiled when I placed my order that I had made the right choice. I actually noticed her on her break eating one while we were there. My advice? Hit this place up ASAP. Don't let it become one of the many restaurants in its area that have come and gone in a matter of months. Gone tonight! read more

Food isn't that great but really what else is there? My husband and I have been here a few times and it was "ok" enough to return but after today we won't be back. We ran outta chips, I ask for more please and our waitress looks at me weird and says "sure". Never see her again, then she makes it back and asks my husband if he'd like more coke, he says yes and HE asks for the chips. She says of course and immediately returns with both in seconds. She barely acknowledged me at all while there, which is fine but when you make such a point about paying more attention to my husband we're going to have a problem. The food is fire the margaritas need a little more liquor kind of more like a juice we come here everytime we are in Springfield so like 5-6 times a year... we usually come in around closing because we usually arrive pretty late and they still serve us.. some of the servers can be super rude or make funny looks I get it because it's close to closing but they are quick and And we usually get out before they even are supposed to close... but that's besides the point the reason for my review is the seating the food is good and the drinks are alright but the seating is awful.... Booths are too small the tables are smashed together.. it's just not enough space especially if you order some sort of fajita or something that requires multiple plates.. they have the best cheese sauce and salsa but can't seem to figure out the seating... its just not ideal and I wish they would do something about it.. even with that being said definitely worth trying maybe to go or only go in small groups maybe not even more than two read more

This place was really good! Even the kids begged to go back. All the flavors were really good. I had the shrimp tacos and they were different than any other place I've had, but I loved them. Kids had beef and steak tacos and finished every bite. Husband enjoyed the chicken chimichanga. Prices were reasonable and service was friendly and insanely fast. They serve their salsa in small carafes and give everyone their own little bowl. It seems to have a little bit of a heavy flavor of cumin (I think anyway), so if you don't like that then you might not like their salsa. I liked it, but I didn't love it. Jose Locos is the best Mexican joint in Springfield! Their chips and salsa are great and it's hard to stop eating them once you start! Their chimichangas are delicious as are their flautas. Total miscommunication. Instead of giving me 9 carnes asadas to go they gave me 5. Then gave me a bunch of salads giving me the illusion that there's more in the bag. As soon as I arrived in the job site I noticed there wasn't enough for everyone and I've been deceived. I called them right away and they denied and hung up on me. The service was awful; the waitress wasn't friendly, didn't offer her name, didn't refill drinks, didn't refill chips, and was confused about the menu & had to retake our order. Went there twice for Taco Tuesdays. I always order the chicken tacos. They were dripping wet both times. I guess they steam the chicken. Service is also very slow unless you have a large group, I guess because the tips will be larger. Tried this place with 4 coworkers on a Tuesday night. The salsa came with a complimentary rubber band in it - classy. The food was bland but edible. My friend swallowed a bone that was in his chicken enchilada. To top off this gem, the service was awful even though we were only one if two tables. Some family members and I had lunch today at the new Battlefield Road location of Jose Locos. We were already big fans of the Glenstone Jose Locos. Pleasantly surprised by the effort that has been put in to decorate the new place, but then I was blown away by the service and delicious food. We started with spinach queso dip, which was fantastic! The owner of this restaurant used to own Cielito Lendo across the street! I had been going there since I was a very little girl and absolutely loved their food! They also treat you like one of the family. I always celebrated my birthday there, so when I turned 21, they gave me a free tequila shot! They are amazing people. Well what can I say. I'm from Chicago where there are 100's if not 1000's of taquerias and other so called authentic Mexican restaurant's !!! Jose Loco's is not good on either end of the spectrum. Very bland food,a useless waitstaff ( I have had friendlier at non English speaking places ) and high prices to say the least. At first the prices were average but have since went up. I will say that the Springfield Mo Mentality is usually only to visit on a $ 1.00 taco night so I'm sure that is why they raised their prices. However the food is VERY MEH at best. EXTREMELY Bland Enchilada's, Ok fish Taco's, horrible Fajita's and Taco's very similar to a Taco Bell. They will charge you extra for corn Tortillas and onion's and cilantro which should be the standard. And yes as others have mentioned your order almost always comes out wrong. And I have eaten here at least 5-7 times. Oh and I almost forgot, VERY BAD Margarita's. Our after church lunch group stopped in here one Sunday, and we liked it a lot. They were able to accommodate our large group (8) with no problem. Our waiter had 2 large groups, us and a birthday party next to each other in the same area, and he was a crack up. Very friendly, helpful, and funny. Food was served quick and correctly. Price was very decent. Place was clean. It was an enjoyable experience, and I believe they will be in our regular after church lunch rotation. We recommend them. read more
