We travel to Springfield often but have never dined here until today. We arrived a couple minutes before 11:00 am, when they open (Sunday). Everything is very clean, including bathroom. Great service, we ordered three a la carte chili rellenos (fried) and a chicken enchilada. Salsa is good, we asked for a hot, which was very different but good. Chips could be better but overall we were very pleased with our experience. We travel all over Mexico and the southwest and dine at Mexican establishments every chance we get! Right off the bat, taco Tuesday seems to be cracking! Long wait for party of 4, so far about 20 mins and waiting... after seating, was advised taco Tuesday is a thing and menu is restricted-ish; at least we weren't offered menus and had to ask to see them. So, to be fair, the margarita pitcher we got was no joke, tasty and strong. The tacos were more like taco Bell than actual tacos you would get in Mexico (i.e. hard shell corn and soft flour). If you check my posts, you would know I'm from Mexico and live in Tijuana, where taco stands are practically on every corner and these tacos, nor any of the dishes, are " authentic". That being said, the salsa served with chips was tasty, but not spicy and the their hottest salsa, which I had to request, did kick it up a notch, but still left me wanting more. For the value, I'd do it again, but for authentic food, meh. read more

We found this place using Yelp because we wanted to grab some new Mexican food for the night and we ended up here on Taco Tuesday! You can get $1 dollar Tacos and $1.50 drafts. We ordered chicken and beef tacos and requested the special salsa. Great job Yelp that hot salsa is H-O-T like need two glasses of water and more chips to clear your palate hot, but delicious! The tacos were loaded with spices, peppers and onions along with the meat, lettuce and cheese. They were very tasty. We also had a lovely gentleman come to our table and serenaded us which I thought was super rad. I've been waiting for a delicious, fresh, and heavy handed margarita serving Mexican restaurant in Springfield for a long time and this, folks, is it. Our food came out fast, our waiter was friendly, and the atmosphere was great. The bar is the type you can get rowdy at if that's what your heart desires. I just am not a fan of this place. I am spoiled maybe or I just have high standards. Lol. My husband loves it. My grandmother, brothers-in-law, father-in-law, and so many others love it. Not me. I am not a fan of Texmix. I love authentic Mexican food. Here they over season everything and it really doesn't matter what you order cuz it all tastes the same. The fish tacos are over seasoned diced pieces on a bed of shredded lettuce. Yuck! When I asked for my chicken tacos to not be seasoned apparently the chef didn't think I knew what I liked and seasoned them anyway. This visit, the waitress never refilled our glasses and I had to go get more napkins cuz the one wrapped around the silverware was all we were given. We found this restraunt two Sundays ago. We have been back twice since then. The offer authentic Mexican food. Food is very well seasoned. The salsa they offer has a nice mild heat. Chips were very fresh. Service was very fast and very friendly. We were able to get in, order, and eat within 45 minutes. read more

Really cheap for a dinner but long wait and really more Texan food than Mexican. Tortillas are flour and not corn (mexican food doesn't use flour tortillas...), and the beef is ground hamburger meat. It's probably better for kids, but if you want actual mexican food I wouldn't go here. Mexican food is complex and intricate, this place just doesn't have those qualities and gives off a misrepresentation of the cuisine. read more

This is my second time in Springfield. We got a recommendation from our Uber driver to try Jose Locos. My boyfriend and I are both lovers of Mexican food. I can honestly say this was one of the best places I have ever been for this type of food. Our server Josè was AWESOME. The food came out hot and timely. Traveling through Springfield from Chicago and back to Texas... Obviously I know my Mexican food and this place didn't fail to hit the spot! There are a lot of choices on the menu; I had the chicken & shrimp while the hubs had the beef quesadilla. They were a good size, not too much to where we would have leftovers (which is good bc we're staying in a hotel, but otherwise I'd be left wanting more). Apparently they have a taco special on Tuesdays but I don't think we'll be able to make it back for that on this trip. Well well well, where to begin. Overall I enjoyed my first visit here. They sat us at a table that was still dirty, which wouldn't have been a big deal. But they weren't busy at all. The place was practically empty when we first came in. Then they had too many servers before their lunch rush actually started. Which isn't a bad thing, they just didn't know we were already being served by someone else. So we got multiple "what would you guys like to drink" questions. And then I'm not saying it's good or bad but my Pico on my order was covering my entire plate, which it was probably just what I ordered. Food tasted great though. Also I'm not probably culturally attuned enough to have listened to a lot of Hispanic music, but they definitely had some good/interesting music going the entire time. From Hispanic rap to Hispanic pop, so some interesting stuff. This was my first time there but I'm pretty sure it was named after the woman (pronounced Josie) and not the husband named Jose, just my opinion tho. read more

IT WAS DELICIOUS AND HERE IS THE BEST PART.....the food came out in under 10 minutes! Phenomenal food at an absolutely unbeatable price.
