yes there was meat here, lots of different cuts of meat, as well as assorted aged cheese, spanish candies, and lots of empanadas. the first time i passed by, i knew that i had to come back for an empanada, and that i did. on my very last night in madrid, i stopped in here to pick up a chicken and vegetable empanada. the lady behind the counter heated it up for me (since it was sitting cold in the display case), and within a few minutes, my order was ready. for €3 and change, this was a pretty good deal since the empanada was larger than the ones i'd had at other markets (probably the more touristy ones), and it was filled generously with lots of chicken and veggies. sometimes, i get an empanada that is mostly starch and very little filling, so i was pleased with this one. it tasted great and was the perfect snack to eat while walking around this magnificent city for the last time. read more
