So I will just start off with i am colorblind and really dont know fashion at all. I wear a uniform at work so when I needed some suits for a few functions, I was at a loss. I walked into this store and put myself in the hands of Brandon f, Kevin, and Charlie. I explained my situation and they did an amazing job. They each really care about their cutomers and how they look. They are all very meticulous, polite, took their time with me, and really cared about how things fit and looked on me. I was very impressed. They never made me feel stupid for not knowing anything and they built my confidence picking out items. Their suggestions were spot on. I have now been to this location 3 times. Each time, I have been "assisted" by an associate that lacked customer service abilities. While not rude, they were all incompetent at their jobs. Today, the associate measured me and then went to pick out a suit. He handed me a suit that was very small, so small in fact that I could not get it past my shoulders. When I said it's too small, he literally asked me if I was sure! Anyway, I like the brand, but this location has had poor service each and every time I visited. OK, not a chance going back. Got the suit in the right size on their web site, brought it in for the alterations. It was ready on time, good start, but after trying it on , the pants just didn't break correctly. I stood at the mirror for about 15 minutes, the sales rep never came over to check on me, to see the results. I looked for him to no avail. It was not like he didn't know I was trying it on, he got it for me from the back. There was a lady with 2 kids getting fitted, and 3 employees. I changed back, went to the register counter, which is when he looked up and asked "how was it"? I told him if he cared he would have checked on me. He mumbled "we have a lot going on". So, what else could I say then- "well, I'll reduce the "load" by leaving, and never coming back. Had to ask him to cover the suit, apparently the plastic bag is optional. Clearly this store operates like a self-serve, off the rack online operation. you will not be properly served. never, never, ever going back here. read more

I was somewhat shocked with a recent visit to the Gainesville store while looking for a Sportcoat. There were two ladies staffing the store and seemed focused on a hat display. They were only mildly interested in helping me and dismissed me when i could not find much on their rack. I continued to shop but was completely ignored in favor of the hats! The prices are also ridiculous as Jos A. Bank always "discounts" Their products to normal prices during their ever present sales. I love Jos A.. Bank, just not this store. read more

Many many years ago my 1st suit was from Jos A Bank and it held up really well over the years. So when the need to get new suits for my work came up, it was an easy choice to visit Jos A Bank again. I visited this location and was instantly greeted by Tom. He did an excellent job picking out two suits that he recommended. On that day they were running one of their normal specials, however Tom informed me that I could get a better deal on two suits if I came back a few days later. In the meantime I bought a few Travelers shirts, which are well worth their money as they hold up great and are very comfortable. When I came back a few days later, I was helped by Cheryl who couldn't have been more awesome. Let me tell you, this woman knows her stuff. She got me fitted and sold me on the many options that made my suit even more comfortable and stylish than I ever could have. She even showed me various shoes that matched my wardrobe very well. After getting the suits sized up, she promptly got me on my way. A few days later I returned to pick up my suits and they fit and felt extra perfect. Just the other day I wore one for work and received many compliments. The combination of great quality suits and a staff that knows how to get them fitting right is what makes for an excellent customer experience. I highly recommend coming here and if you can get Cheryl you are in for the win. read more

I went into this store a couple weeks ago in desperate need for a three piece suit for a wedding I was going to attend the following week. I was assisted by Danny T., he listened to all my needs and got me everything I needed. The vest I wanted wasn't available in my size so he ordered it from another location. I was amazed by how early the suit was ready to be picked up and the vest arrived at the store days before the wedding. Overall, I was very satisfied with the customer service and the suit fit perfectly. I will be returning for my next suit purchase. read more

This store employs incredibly rude, disorganized and incompetent salespeople. I have never had such a stressful shopping experience. First of all, staff will complain about shoppers right in front of you. One of the ladies literally said "there are too many people in here" as she passed by me. I'm sorry- are we bothering you by shopping in your store? Maybe we should leave. Even one of our groomsmen said the sales lady complained about us when we weren't there and scoffed at him for telling her where he typically shops. To note: We are very easy going people. We made one change to our tux order and apparently ruined this lady's day. The time it takes to get in and out is unbelievable. You will need to set aside your entire evening for what should be a quick visit I contacted jos a bank directly so I didn't have to leave a negative review on yelp for all to see. For the amount of time and money spent here acquiring multiple suits, I was quite disappointing in the service and final product. This was my first experience with this company and the only thing that saves them from getting one star is that the young lady who initially waited on me was great. We had difficulty getting the suits altered appropriately and they were delivered with bits of thread hanging off them and we had to request that they take them back and steam them neatly. There was a mistake in one of the alterations and I got the impression the seamstress was bothered bu having to do it right. You won't get the impression that you are important to them here. Shop elsewhere where you might be better appreciated. read more

My fiancé chose this store to rent tuxedos for our wedding recently. He has shopped at this store many times. Unfortunately, because of poor communication with the management team, his tux was not there on time and his shoes were the wrong size! They had a month to get it right! We were inconvenienced, and didn't need this stress on our wedding day. They did get another tux in, but not the shoes. Extra running around for us!!I'm sorry" is not acceptable! I would never recommend this store for renting tuxedos for special occasions! read more

STRIKE THREE When the Jos. Banks in Gainesville, VA didn't have the trousers I wanted they said they could order them and they would arrive in 5-7 days. Jos. Banks would call when they arrived. STRIKE ONE. On day 8 I called and indeed, the trousers were in. The sales person had been off the last few days, but was "going to call me." Apparently I was fortunate enough to get the one sales person in the whole store who knows how to use a phone, although that dialing thing seems to still be elusive. STRIKE TWO. After trying on the unhemmed trousers and having them marked, I was told there would be a tailoring charge. On a $200 pair of unhemmed trousers...seriously? And if you are fan of silicone in your trousers, don't forget the "permanent crease" up-sell on checkout. At least a working zipper was included in the price. STRIKE THREE. Clearly I don't understand the complexities of hemming straight leg trousers (no cuff). I was told it would be AT LEAST two weeks before they could be ready. And Jos. Banks would call me. Uh...right. TIP: I later discovered my dry cleaners would hem trousers in three days for half Bank's price and for the same as Bank's price I could have them the next day. Lesson learned. So if you need trousers next month, and enjoy dealing with airline baggage fee pricing structures, Jos. Banks in Gainesville is the place. As for me, I'm outta-here. read more

My daughter is getting married next in Cancun, we are getting on the airplane Sunday morning we ordered nine tuxedo suits including, (1) Lost, the grooms tuxedo was the wrong one it matched the groomsmen jackets, every shop no matter whether it was, FairOaks Mall in Virginia, Gainesville, Virginia that groomsman was over charged $300, in Bowie Maryland, they tried to over charge the clients and would not acknowledge the discount that was already charged. This is unacceptable for a top of the line and suppose to be a reputable corporation. I've been buying the bulk of my dress clothes her for the last 3-4 years and have never had a bad experience. About 3 years ago I took advantage of one of their mega sales to get three suits, three shirts, and three ties for about $1k. The sales people were exceptionally courteous and helpful in assisting me put together an ensemble. A few months later when one of the suit pants returned from the dry cleaners with holes, Tom replaced it with only a charge for alterations. Since then I've been in a few more times for a sport coat, rain coat, and additional shirts. I've been helped by Danny as well who is helpful in finding an appropriate garment that is on sale. Just went here today and it was as if the staff was waiting for me. Extremely helpful, professional, and very knowledgeable. I know nothing about style, but needed to look my best, so they dressed me from head to toe, and I feel great. The price was also less than I was expecting, I think there was a sale going on. Would definitely recommend them. I'm 6'-5", so hard to find clothes that fit, but they had no problem. I'm definitely going back here as its good to have someone to not only sell me stuff, but tell me what I should buy, and what looks good. I visited the Gainesville store to return an on-line purchase. I stepped to the front counter and there was sales associate working on a binder at the back of the counter; all Banks stores are the same--they have a galley-type counter with front and back desks with an narrow aisle between them. He was concentrating on his binder that he didn't notice me as I stood there, cleared my throat, and even said excuse me in a pleasant tone. The other associates were helping other customers. The original associate finally noticed me after several minutes and I explained my need. I assume he didn't have authorization to take the return so he went to ask the manager. The store manager came to the counter, visibly and by his words frustrated that he had to ring the return; he was sarcastic to his other associates as he had to return my merchandise and they didn't move fast enough. This manager is the store manager; I've suffered his aloof behavior in the past. Anyway, he never said a word to me, nor looked my way, just fiddled with the cash register. Another associate finally came to the register to take over the return. Her tone with me was curt, at best. She took my return and I left. I love Joseph A Bank -- I own over a dozen suits and multiple shirts and ties that are all Joseph A Bank...great fit and they wear really well. However, I don't visit the Gainesville store if I need to make a purchase and I recommend the same to others. If you want or need to visit a store, then drive another 20 minutes to Warrenton...they actually like customers and treat customers as family, not annoyances. read more

Dealing with not only this store and this company for any form of customer service has been APPALLING! I rented a suit for my son for my brothers wedding in May 2015 in March and have been dealing with nothing but headaches since! On April 1st I received an email stating that the suit was ready for pick up at this store - which is obviously a bit early for the May wedding. I called the store shortly after receiving the email and spoke with a very rude male employee. I voiced my concerns about the email and the possibility of the date being wrong in the system. I was told "those emails go out incorrectly all the time and there is no kids suit there." When I asked about checking the date in the system it seemed as if I was causing a major inconvenience and he told me "it was right." So I got a call from the same store on Monday April 13th stating the suit was STILL at the store and needed to be picked up. When I explained I had called earlier this month about it she said that indeed the suit was there and the date in the computer was for a wedding THIS weekend (April not May)!! I was told the suit would be at the store and my son could come to try it on to ensure the fit is correct for next month. When I told the man at the register what I was there for - again a rude attitude - I had a card grabbed and shoved at me saying basically "its not here and take this if you are charged again." Well my showing up at the store was not about money or being charged twice, I went to the store since the suit was supposed to still be there so it could be tried on to ensure size. So I was handed to another male employee who went two times to check and no suit was found. Trying to figure out what was going on my information was taken down and I was told I would be called and made aware of what happened since nothing could be found and to also ENSURE me that the date in the system was for May **th so I would have the suit when it was needed. As of MAY 8th no one has called, I emailed a complaint on 04-15-2015, have called customer service 4 times and was supposed to hear from a Regional Manager over a week ago. This store and company as brought customer service to a new low and I wish I had never given them a dime of my money. read more

The worst customer service ever. First they misplaced my order , then it was two weeks late. They never called me when it arrived , i had to call them. Finally got it altered , and when it came back it had bits of thread hanging off and they never pressed them. Asked if they could press it and when i got them home, Yep , all wrinkled. Not going back. I will spend my money else where. Had to take them to cleaner and get them pressed. Don't waste your time or money. read more
