I came in on a Monday morning to see what they have to offer for boys youth sizes. I came in with a picture of a dark blue jacket, khaki pants and an ivory long sleeved shirt. I was welcomed as I came through the door and the gentleman was nice enough to answer my questions. He was able to get sized. I ended up ordering a jacket here. $99 for a youth size jacket. It has been 10 years since I bought a suit. I came in and told them I had a special event coming up in less than a week and needed an outfit for the event. Robin was super nice and set me up with a suit that almost seemed like it was just waiting for me to show up. She not only got it right the first time but she was able to get the suit tailored for me in less than 48hrs. I made an appointment for a suit fitting/consultation for my wedding a few weeks ago. When we arrived I was greeted by an older gentleman. I told him I had an 11AM appt and it was about 10.45. He said "you're a little early but I guess I can help you out". I am sure he was joking but he didn't seem like he was. Throughout my whole experience he never introduced to me his name/specialty in the business so there was no real introduction or pleasantries of any sort. I told him I was either looking to buy and or rent and I wasn't sure if I wanted a tuxedo or a suit. I also informed him of the the color I was looking for and fit. He told me to browse the entire store for their selection and if I saw something I like to let him know... I was very turned off by this. He should have walked with me instead of me aimlessly walking around looking for the right color. I am sure once he showed me a few colors and based on my responses he could figure out which color scheme/style I was looking for. He let me try on a couple of the suit jackets to see what would look nice on me and what didn't. When trying them on I had to ask what size the jackets were and what the fit was like instead of the other way around. He just didn't provide much information or gave me the service that I was looking for. I also had to ask about any special deals and or sales they had going on. I felt like I was initiating everything when it was his job to do so. The suit selection here is very minimal.. I was looking for a particular type of Navy Blue and they had mostly darker shades of navy and nothing else. NO STARS! My son and his friend came in yesterday for fittings for prom and to see what they had. Firstly, they acted as if it an inconvenience they were even there, second... they didn't give tell the boys their measurements or anything. My son asked was it too late to order a suit to his likings and was told "we don't do that here" then just walked off leaving my son and his friend there looking lost. I am so disappointed I was at work because I would have liked to ask what the issue was. I'm not one to pull the race card but my son is bi- racial and his friend is Hispanic. Is this why y'all sucked so much? Did y'all think they didn't deserve decent customer service because of their skin color ?!?! DISGUSTING!!! It was a male and the other was an older white woman. Quick and professional service. Made a great recommendation for alterations that I needed quickly. The complaints that I read were not apparent when I visited - staff was friendly, quick to help, and quick to complete the sale. I know what I want, so I go in and get what I need and leave - but from what I saw in buying 4 suits in about 25 minutes - they made it happen and got me to a tailor for alternations that happed same days as well. read more

They should have a waiting for assistance bench or something...if we're standing for 30 mins and still no one available to assist us. Maybe they're just super understaffed? "Just a few minutes" sure does last a while. At least we got an acknowledgement. Went here with my husband in the evening a little after 6pm. Wasn't very busy, about 4 potential customers including us. Granted, a couple that arrived after us was assisted as we were still waiting. The prices they had listed were fine, so if you already know what you want and don't need any interaction during your shopping then this place may be fine. We decided to leave at the 30 min mark. I came in just for some Navy blue slacks and walked out fitted with a suit for my nephew wedding. When I tell you I had a great experience 5 stars ladies and gentlemen. Everyone needs clothes, sadly I cannot wear jeans to work so I go here for the uniform. All of the staff members area great, they get overwhelmed because when they help someone, they actually stay with that person and help them until they are sorted, so be patient, call ahead ask when the downtime is etc... This is one of those, you get what you pay for places. Do I get all of my clothes here?? Nope, but the ones I do get here last... for a long time. I hit them up when they have a sale and like the pants (slacks) more than dockers or other pants... The Sale items can also be ordered from the store, from the website. OR Shipped to the store from the website, just let them order it so they get the cut ;). "The Good" - They have what you need when you need to dress up or get clothes for work. - They have a great crew of staff members that help you and care about you. They actually take time to get to know whats going on, sure they want to make the sale, but when they remember you from the last time and ask how the event was... thats what makes it different. Al is the go to salesman, but everyone that works there is pretty cool. - They have traveler wear, where it is designed to not get wrinkled. It does cost a little more (on top of the already "a little more") but they work and it is great for when you are flying and need to be is Business Casual. - They send the clothes out for alterations and occasionally have a tailor onsite. - Tux Rentals. - Silk Handkerchiefs. - This is the only store that I have seen a white silk scarf for men sold. So when the 1940s costume party happens... I know where to go. "The Meh" - It can get crowded and then it can get slooooooow. Especially when there are only two members of staff on hand. Great service; attentive staff. They usually have good sales going on and will eventually will have one that matches your need for good quality clothing; went in to pick up a traveler's shirt on Saturday for Easter Sunday and got a second (needed) one free. There were a few patrons in the store and it looked like everyone was being attended to; I was quickly measured and treated well by neither an overbearing high-pressure commission pigdog nor an ignoramus but one who let me browse but was ready to answer any questions. Muy nice. Would have probably dropped a lot more bucks in the place because it was actually a rare enjoyable event for me, but the spousal unit stayed in the car for me to dart in and grab my shirt(s).... read more

For the second time in a row I had a problem with the store in Virginia Beach. The first time they would not honor a gift card they issued because of their mistake. Today I spent an hour picking out an outfit on sale, having the sales person constantly keeping me waiting to run after other customers only to have the outfit which she said qualified for the sale not qualify. This is my first review on Yelp in a while. I feel that anyone who needs to rent a tux should avoid this store and all Jos A. bank. Go elsewhere. They are pretentious and unprofessional. Their suits are poorly made. Rented a tux for a wedding I was a groomsman. They didn't contact me about my suit until the day prior. (Supposed to let you know when it's in transit and a week out). This created anxiety in our grooms party. I called them and no one answered during normal working hours. I even got an "number is disconnected". I had to call the Virginia beach store who insisted the number was active even though I just called the Chesapeake store and got that disconnected message. When I finally got my suit, the buttons were poorly stitched. Right before the ceremony one of the buttons fell off. After the wedding I went to return it at the store nearby the wedding location to find out it was closed!! Even though their website said it was there and had an active phone number (which turned out to be forwarding calls to Connecticut). I was banking on that store to be open so I could drop off my suit on time. I got charged a late fee because I couldn't get to a closer store until I got back to Chesapeake. Ugh. I was originally going to rent all my groomsmen tuxedos here, but now I will be going elsewhere. read more

This was the first time I have been to this location and it will be the last. My husband and I wanted to get a suit for a last minute event and we just so happened to be in our workout clothes. Since we live right next to it we decided to walk there. I cannot believe how ignorant these can be. We walked in and no one greeted us. Okay, that's fine someone was at the register but the other associate looked at us and turned around. We were the only other customer there. That's odd, we made eye contact...maybe he didn't see us so we went to the suits and started browsing. We had a question about on of the deals they had going on but they didn't want to help us. The associate ignored us and walked passed us 5 times!! Never once did he acknowledge us. This is when I started getting angry. How dare they look at us and think we don't have the money to afford their stuff. Just because we weren't in our casual attire doesn't give them a right to treat us like that. If I could take it up to corporate I would. They need better employees at this location. read more

I was with my husband who was looking to purchase a couple of suits. Upon walking into Jos A. Banks i noticed right off no greeting. We walked over to the suits my husband was looking for his size, i noticed a sales person who was older gentleman watching us but did not a acknowledge us at all. A young guy came over asked my husband a couple of questions, but was called away to a register. Still looking through the suits, this older salesman walked by us, did not acknowledge us at all, did not say,"can I help you? , or " have you been helped? ", he said nothing. I know he had to see me because he walked right pass me going to a room in the back! He did this several times. But he managed to help certain people who came in the store, maybe we didn't look like we could afford what was in the store maybe that was it. I decided to check out Yelp while my husband was trying on suits. I now know why their rating is low, poor customer service. I believe every customer is important and should be treated with respect. You never know who could be walking through your doors. I could have been the wife of a regional manager. Like i said everyone should be treated as important when walking through your doors.
