His thick accent makes it hard for my parents to understand him, so my sister or I need to go to translate, plus we want to know what's going on. He seems genuinely concerned about her brain health, and is always open to hearing our concerns or answering our many questions. Today was her fourth appointment with him in his office, he asked her a series of questions to test her memory and word expression. He said he was pleased her memory seems the same/intact and that while with her neurological disorder that has impaired her speech, she seems to not have gotten worse. He recommended another MRI, PET scan, EEG and blood work. She spent a week in the hospital about 6 months ago conducting a week long EEG and a spinal tap to diagnose what auto-immune disease she has that has caused brain swelling and therefore has damaged the communication area of her brain and has impacted her speech. Not a lot has been discovered from that stay, which is pretty disappointing. We may look into the Mayo Clinic or another neurologist perhaps in Vegas. Dr. Peng is great, but I wonder if another practice has more to offer. Second opinions are always good, too. I only have personal knowledge from our appointments with Dr. Peng, although there are other neurologists within that practice.

I have been a patient of Dr. Louie for at least six years for my neurology issues. He is thorough,…read moreintelligent, and personable. He discovered my initial diagnosis rather quickly even though it had baffled other doctors for about three years before he was on the case. When I gained another neurological issue after an accident, he quickly and competently took over my care for that also. Today I went in with several questions about my diagnosis since I have either gotten slightly better or at least stopped getting worse (which isn't supposed to happen, but may have after quitting a certain unrelated medication or from going gluten free a few years ago). My questions could clarify and/or slightly change my main official diagnosis (that basically includes a large range of similar issues). He was easy to talk with and we developed a plan to check it out. Many other doctors would dig in their feet and not want to listen to anything that may question anything they have previously said. I have highly recommended Dr. Louie for several years and I will continue to do so. His office staff is nice to work with also.

I have been going to his office at Renown for a couple of years now. I am freshly postpartum with a nine week old baby who just got his vaccinations yesterday. I left the house with plenty of time to spare, but was 20 minutes late due to circumstances out of my control - something was spilled all over the highway leading to stand still traffic. I arrive to the office and was told he has a full schedule and can't see me today after I just spent an hour plus in traffic with a fussy newborn. I absolutely respect people's time and tried to explain my situation as best as I could letting them know how I made extensive effort to be there although I was 10 minutes past their 10 minute late policy. They were not understanding and held their ground. I then canceled my appointments with them altogether and, freshly postpartum, left the office crying. After being a patient there for years, I was given no grace or understanding. Medical assistants and office staff were not empathetic or understanding to a situation that is clearly a genuine extenuating circumstance entirely out of my control. If you're looking for a Renown office that offers empathy and humanity, this office is unfortunately lacking.
