First and foremost let me start by saying...... I AM NOT A PICKY EATER!!!!
I had very high hopes for this place. My Love and I discovered it on our way back from the casino in Choctaw, Mississippi a month or so back. It was a WAY off the beaten path sort of mom and pop looking establishment, and I said "I'll just bet you they got a good burger there! How about we stop there next time we happen to be over this way? Hummmm?" It was a Sunday when we found the place and it was closed.. but we stopped, took pictures of the place with our cell phones, got the phone number off the sign and I made STRONG mental notes about where we were and how to get back there again.
We got to stop there back on October 1st on our way back home from Choctaw. At first we were slightly turned off by the grease smell when we opened the front door, but then again maybe that's a good sign I thought being that I am on a quest to find the perfect greasy, dripping, juicy mom and pop burger ever made. So, I ordered something quite unique (something I had never experienced before) a cheeseburger dipped in pancake batter, deep fried, loaded with lettuce tomato pickles onions THE WORKS!! You would think this thing would come out steaming and dripping greasy juices everywhere but NO. I was dissappointed at how dry the bun was first of all. It was BIG now but whatever juices may have been on the deep fried patty were absorbed into the cold (as opposed to warm) big bun. The patty INSIDE the batter was like it was burnt before it was even fried with a hard crust on the outside of the meat. And, the pancake batter kept falling off; kinda like when I try to make onion rings.
The ketchup on the table was fermented and when I opened it, it spewed at me and sprayed ketchup all over the table which I so graciously cleaned up.... but FERMENTED ketchup... NOT a good thing. Fortunately, none of it got on my food. I ended up having to go to two separate tables to get a bottle of off-brand ketchup that was fresh because the second bottle I got had a bulging lid.. NOT a good sign... I wasn't even going to open that one.
Anyway, my quest goes on because this is not the place to go for the perfect burger. Sorry, Jordan's, it's hard to get a 1 star from me but ya'll managed it. read more
