After a lengthy and open discussion on her diagnosis, options, pros and cons, decision was made to proceed with Dr. Zhubi. His approach and demeaner are very professional, cordial, clear, in layman language, and he answered all questions. Although her condition was severe, Dr. Zhubi, had high confidence that her cancer could be removed, and a probability that she would recover without wearing a colostomy pouch for the remainder of her life. Prior surgeons felt confident on the cancer removal but stated she would wear a pouch for life. The marathon surgery, partnered with a GYN oncologist and urologist, went very well. She went from wearing her colostomy pouch (from earlier ER surgery) to an ileostomy pouch for a few months. At this point she is in FULL remission on her cancer. She had her reversal surgery a couple weeks ago, pouch GONE! Now she is in transition get her GI plumbing running normal again. Going well. Having Dr. Zhubi and his Team there for the pre-surgery, surgery, and all of the steps during post-surgery have been absolutely amazing, an absolute God send and blessing. We are recommending Dr. Zhubi and his Team to everyone we talk to. We are also telling, not recommending, that everyone get a colonoscopy exam. Better safe than sorry!

So I opted for an arthroscopic, and robotic procedure this time. Dr. Agapay is absolutely expert at this procedure. My experience (and I've had plenty) has been that surgeons can be great technicians but not the best at bedside manner. Kinda brusk Pre-op and Post-op. Dr. Agapay is the total package. First, he listens to you. Pre-Op he explains the procedure very clearly ad thoroughly answering any questions you may have. He has a great sense of humor and confidence which helped me relax. Post op he is available for questions/concerns and I know because I called day 4 of post op. I wasn't sure if the pain I was experiencing in my leg was a normal condition and was hesitant to call so soon after surgery. I didn't want to be that patient that overreacts. Dr. Agapay got back to me quickly and explained what I was experiencing, that it was rare but normal and that ice and time would heal. Sure enough, he was right and he did not make me feel like a bother at all. Dr. Agapay followed up again 10 days after surgery. Now here I am less that 3 weeks after surgery and my recovery has been remarkable. He is a terrific doctor and who is expert at an innovative procedure. By the way, his office staff is great also! They are friendly and efficient!

I underwent hernia repair surgery that went wrong. The surgeon caused a dime sized hole (his op…read morereport words) in my colon. While Dr Agapay was not the primary surgeon he was present and assisted. Another complication occurred while hospitalized and a fistula developed. I spent a month in the hospital. About 2 months after I was discharged Dr. Agapay was covering for my primary surgeon while he was away. I called his office on a Tuesday to report pain, redness, and hardness in the surgical area. I received a return call on Thursday. I reiterated my symptoms to Dr. Agapay who also stated he was familiar with my case as he had assisted and also reviewed my file. Dr Agapay did not ask me to come into the office. Instead he told me to get a Covid test and asked if I had any free ones at home. I said I did and he said to just use one of those. He suggested I had Covid because I told him I was having discomfort sometimes when trying to take a deep breath. I was not experiencing shortness of breath. It was discomfort from my diaphragm being affected by fluid buildup. The pain, hardness, redness continued with slight fevers over what was a holiday weekend. Yes folks, a surgeon who actually knew what had happened to me and was aware of my symptoms told me to take a Covid test, NOT come see him so he could actually help before a 3 day weekend. I tried calling the office over the weekend to find out if this was worth the ER or what should I do. The on call number was a cell phone? I left a message and texted it. My plan was to be at the Dr office first thing Tuesday morning. It wasn't necessary. At 3:30am on the holiday I woke up covered in blood and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. The blood and fluid was coming from my belly button which was the only way out it could find since laparoscopic surgery had created a weakness or opening there. Turns out I had cellulitis which became septic. Another 4-5 days in hospital. Am I upset at the surgeon who caused the initial injury? Sure. But he saw me through it. I consider myself VERY lucky to have survived and I have no debilitating intestinal issues except a larger hernia then I started with. It's Dr Agapay I feel who failed a duty of care and that's what has angered me the most. He was in the OR for the injury. He said he reviewed my chart when I called his office. A patient calls your office with symptoms of cellulitis 4 days before a 3 day weekend and you didn't think it a good idea for me to come in so you could see and perhaps start me on antibiotics BEFORE I was scared beyond belief with blood and other fluid practically exploding from my belly button. Do you know what it's like to wake up like that and have no idea what is happening? It has taken me several months to get to the point of being able to post this. The entire experience of the medical trauma has caused PTSD. The measure of service be it customer service or patient care is accountability and how the issue is handled. You did a lousy job handling this Dr. Agapay. I had a patient myself in my office (I am a part of the interdisciplinary team however not medical) mention how you would be performing that patient's surgery. I cringed and had to excuse myself from the room. So no, I would not recommend you as a surgeon.

I was unsuccessful in reaching my person I needed, so I called her back to let her know that if she tells patients they are directing their calls to the wrong, area she should also provide them with a solution ex: tell them where to dial and that she was extremely rude. She then said, "your agent is ready do you want me to transfer you now?" I said "I'd like you to not be rude and then transfer me nicely!" She then said "oh, sweetie, I hope you have an amazing day!" In a condescending tone, transferred me with no apology, and my agent I needed was not available. "Great staff?" Not the plastic surgeon coordinator!

I filled out the pre surgery paperwork, noting that I was allergic to OxyContin, Percocet and any other opioid. Not because I have an addiction issue, but because I am actually allergic to them. Like deathly allergic. I am also allergic to penicillin. I appreciate that they were also very transparent about the co-pay costs ahead of time. When I got there first thing in the morning the they quickly ran through the paperwork with me and I advised them that they didn't have my allergies listed. They corrected that and gave me a wristband noting them. A very nice girl then whisked me back to pre-op noting my wrist band and asking me to verify what my allergies were. When she put me on a gurney and gave me a warm blanket I noticed it had some gummy residue substance on it which caused me to raise my eyebrows. After that the anesthesiologist came in and gave me a rundown on what he was going to do which was reassuring. Then I met Dr Damore who barely looked at me while he gave me a rundown on what he was going to do during the procedure, and then in front of the nurse told me that he would make sure to prescribe me a minor opioid (I forget the specific brand) afterward to help with the pain. I told him that was a hard negative, holding up my wristband and saying I had already advised them at least twice that I couldn't take them. He finally looked up at me and said "Oh, well then alternate ibuprofen and acetaminophen every few hours for it." At that point I almost walked out but I was there so I said screw it, let's do this. The surgery went well. The day after my surgery I got a call from my pharmacy advising me that my (I'm deathly allergic to it) pain medication was all ready to be picked up. To say this troubles me is an understatement.

I had to google what they were. Both say melanoma. I never got a call about needing to come back and follow up. All doctor's offices call patients when they get a positive cancer diagnosis. This staff needs to get their shit together. I'll never step foot in this office again. Don't go here if you care about your health.

She didn't hesitate: "Don't bother looking at anyone else in the Valley. Go see Russo." In that heavy accent. I'm glad I listened. As a nurse myself with 26 years of experience, I've seen it all -- the good, the bad, and the downright scary. Dr. Russo is one of the best. His father was a physician, and I can say with confidence his Father should be incredibly proud of the surgeon and human being his son has become. Dr. Russo isn't just a highly skilled surgeon with a stellar track record and excellent credentials. What really stood out to me was his bedside manner. He never once made me feel rushed. He listened. He cared. And you can tell he genuinely loves what he does -- there's no trace of the burnout you sometimes see in seasoned surgeons. On top of it all, he's a family man with kids of his own, so he gets it. He understands how a bum hip doesn't just affect you, it affects your whole family. That empathy came through in every interaction. I had a left hip replacement and walked out the same day with not just a new joint, but a new outlook on life. I'm excited to soon tie my own shoes again, to ride a bike pain-free, to live my life again. If you're considering surgery and you're lucky enough to get in with Dr. Russo -- don't think twice. Went to my gyn, cytology was abnormal, had an MRI (also abnormal) and was referred to Dr. Liu. I was immediately impressed with her quiet confidence and calm factual demeanor. She mapped out a plan, genetic testing, more tests and likely surgery. She felt that it might not be cancer, but I was having high risk symptoms that would have to be addressed. After the tests came in, she recommended surgery & warned that I might lose my nipple. Also, Dr. Liu called me personally with results and to discuss treatment plans. My mother got all panicky and insisted on a Mayo second opinion. They agreed 100% with everything Dr. Liu had said. Throughout this process Dr. Liu kept in touch. The next step was meeting reconstructive surgeons, again Dr. Liu was always available texting as I interviewed three different plastic surgeons. I decided on Dr. Michael Meno and proceeded with both surgeons working together. Everything went fine and I ended up KEEPING MY NIPPLE!! I now have a matching set of perkier breasts that DO NOT have cancer! Dr. Liu was calm and confident throughout this process, she shared her cell number in case I needed to reach out with questions. This whole process of breast surgery was not on my 2024 bingo card, but if you are going through this, cancer or not, surgeons do not come any better than Linda Liu.
