I had an umbilical hernia mesh procedure done here at the recommendation of my primary doctor. At first I was very impressed with their communication prior to the appointment. I filled out the pre surgery paperwork, noting that I was allergic to OxyContin, Percocet and any other opioid. Not because I have an addiction issue, but because I am actually allergic to them. Like deathly allergic. I am also allergic to penicillin. I appreciate that they were also very transparent about the co-pay costs ahead of time. When I got there first thing in the morning the they quickly ran through the paperwork with me and I advised them that they didn't have my allergies listed. They corrected that and gave me a wristband noting them. A very nice girl then whisked me back to pre-op noting my wrist band and asking me to verify what my allergies were. When she put me on a gurney and gave me a warm blanket I noticed it had some gummy residue substance on it which caused me to raise my eyebrows. After that the anesthesiologist came in and gave me a rundown on what he was going to do which was reassuring. Then I met Dr Damore who barely looked at me while he gave me a rundown on what he was going to do during the procedure, and then in front of the nurse told me that he would make sure to prescribe me a minor opioid (I forget the specific brand) afterward to help with the pain. I told him that was a hard negative, holding up my wristband and saying I had already advised them at least twice that I couldn't take them. He finally looked up at me and said "Oh, well then alternate ibuprofen and acetaminophen every few hours for it." At that point I almost walked out but I was there so I said screw it, let's do this. The surgery went well. The day after my surgery I got a call from my pharmacy advising me that my (I'm deathly allergic to it) pain medication was all ready to be picked up. To say this troubles me is an understatement.

I had my appendix out on Feb. 16th 2017. Overall it was a good experience. I had Dr. Jennifer Reitz, and she was great. I came back here several weeks after my surgery and the surgical nurse checked on my incisions. All good! For my first surgery this was great. I would recommend Dr. Reitz. She was professional, personable, and kind. Excellent!

Answer: Nothing that I've ever felt! (although that time they fished the bladder-bound tube up my urethra came a close second... Mommy!) Well, I was in the market for a skilled proctologist / rectal surgeon. Dr Larson came with high recommendations, so I booked an appointment with him. Things weren't too bad at this point. Upon initial introductions, I found him to be a mild mannered gentleman, with a calm demeanor, and a penchant for buggery. Well, strike the buggery comment. He was the wise, kind, older uncle you had as a child. I tell ya, rolling over on the exam table, and letting him spread apart my cheeks brought me back to my childhood thanksgivings. I could almost smell mom's liver pate stuffing with gorgonzola. Oh wait... that's me! After the exam, Dr Larson gave me two options. The first being surgery, and the second, being a numbing ointment, which was meant to promote healing. I chose the latter. My mistake. Let me tell you about 'finger cots'. They are little condoms for your fingers. No, not as thick as a rubber thimble the accountants used to use, but thin, like sheepskin, but they are latex. As I endured the two weeks of safe sex with my fore-finger, as it was slathered with the ointment, my problem down below was worsening. So much so, that I imposed myself on a strict liquid diet, in order to minimize the traffic. Imagine an impish Leprechaun holding a lit match to your dumpster slot, and every time you turn around to backhand him, he disappears, only to reappear behind you doing it all over again. Now imagine he has the stamina to keep that up for 2... 3... or 12 hours at a time. That's right about when I came down with a case of Tourrettes. I yelled out with every burning or stabbing sensation. Pretty sure I came up with new grammatical combinations. That's the kind of stuff the neighbor kids will be talking about for years to come. Anyways, I met with the doctor again, and upon his second invasive exam, he noticed the exposed muscle fibers, and commented on how painful my potty time must be. This time, I opted for the 'sew & scope'. We scheduled a surgery date, which gave me six days to take care of my arrangements. I secured a ride to and from the hospital, updated my will, and completed my pre-op paperwork with the hospital staff. The day before surgery... hours before I started my final preparations, I get a call from the surgeon's office. Seems that Mrs Larson failed to inform the staff that the good doctor would be on an airplane jetting off somewhere, at the exact same time as my scheduled surgery. We would have to reschedule. I puckered. It would be six more days until Doctor Larson's skilled digits would be fishing a threaded needle through various areas of my rectum. Yes, six more days of the Ensure liquid diet. Six grueling days of trying to ebb the flow of solid waste. I made it to day five, before erupting. Oh, and how I erupted! It was a current of explicatives and the excrement. Oh, but this time I was ready. Comfort came in the form of three Tylenol PM, two NyQuil and a pint of Guinness. I made it to surgery, and am alive to tell the tale. They packed me pretty good that day, which gave me the opportunity to un-pack myself. How many of you can say the same? That was seven weeks ago, and although I'm still seeing the doctor every couple of weeks to promote total healing, I'd call this a success.

I figured I would just walk in and make an appointment since it's literally right across the street from my neighborhood. There was a lady outside who I asked what time they opened and she said 8:00. So I came in and the lady from outside was now behind the counter. I believe her name was Cece. I asked if I could make an appointment for a surgery evaluation, and she said, "oh we don't make appointments in person, you have to call" I feel like she was either having a bad morning and I thought she was kinda rude so I just left. I went and got in my car and contemplated calling for an appointment or just finding a different spot because of the treatment I received. But all of a sudden, there she was standing at my passenger door telling me she could get me an appointment. Her entire attitude had changed and she became much more pleasant. She said the person that normally sets appointments was not there yet but she wanted to get me taken care of anyway. I don't know if the correct person wasn't there or if Cece WAS the correct person, and quite honestly, I didn't and I don't care. The fact that she did a course correction and changed up her entire demeanor to be very nice and friendly was amazing in my opinion and I appreciated it. She took what could have been a bad day and turned it into a great one. So far this has been my interaction here but I have my appointment today (why I checked in, lol) so I will let you know how it goes from here.

Went to my gyn, cytology was abnormal, had an MRI (also abnormal) and was referred to Dr. Liu. I was immediately impressed with her quiet confidence and calm factual demeanor. She mapped out a plan, genetic testing, more tests and likely surgery. She felt that it might not be cancer, but I was having high risk symptoms that would have to be addressed. After the tests came in, she recommended surgery & warned that I might lose my nipple. Also, Dr. Liu called me personally with results and to discuss treatment plans. My mother got all panicky and insisted on a Mayo second opinion. They agreed 100% with everything Dr. Liu had said. Throughout this process Dr. Liu kept in touch. The next step was meeting reconstructive surgeons, again Dr. Liu was always available texting as I interviewed three different plastic surgeons. I decided on Dr. Michael Meno and proceeded with both surgeons working together. Everything went fine and I ended up KEEPING MY NIPPLE!! I now have a matching set of perkier breasts that DO NOT have cancer! Dr. Liu was calm and confident throughout this process, she shared her cell number in case I needed to reach out with questions. This whole process of breast surgery was not on my 2024 bingo card, but if you are going through this, cancer or not, surgeons do not come any better than Linda Liu. I can not recommend her highly enough!

I have never had a care provider be so obviously annoyed at seeing her own patients…read more I was 30 mins early for my appointment and waited over an hour to be seen. No one in the office even acknowledged it! When I got to the exam room, the doctor had asked me to pull down my pants with her watching. This was weird to me and gave me pause. Dr. McConnell was apparently annoyed at this because then she herself, grabbed the waistband of my pants and started tugging to pull them off, so hard that I almost fell off the exam table. I've never had a provider do this to me. To stay in the room and not provide a cover or gown was distressing enough but when the Dr tugged on my pants I shut down. She proceeded to tell me all about the procedure she was recommending, I asked her about how far out she was scheduling and she rolled her eyes and said, "talk to my staff." At check out I was told I would be able to schedule in the office for the procedure. I was living in extreme pain every single day and I had already waited a month for the consult. We scheduled the procedure for two weeks out, which was a really long time to wait in agony. She did not call in any medications. She did not give any directions. The day before surgery they called me and cancelled my procedure and told me I didn't meet the requirements to use their facility after all. I pleaded with the nurse about how I was living in excruciating pain and all she said was,"I don't make the rules." Dr. McConnell was cold, disrespectful, unprofessional and unwilling to provide any pain medication after surgery. Doctors and surgeons have a duty to provide pain relief after a procedure, to dismiss and belittle pain and suffering is not being a good care provider! The behavior of her staff I also found unacceptable and rude. It's easy to apologize for running behind on appointments. It's easy to have empathy when you hear a patient is in pain. I have been a veterinary nurse for 10+ years, I can't imagine being so heartless if a patient was suffering or in pain. We treat dogs better than I got treated here! I found a great surgeon that did my procedure, treated me with compassion like a human being, AND provided pain relief!!! All in 3 days after they cancelled on me last minute! What a concept!
