Also after looking at the Heinz website, it appears they do primarily plastic surgery. I went to Dr Heinz for a upper eyelid surgery and was impressed by the fact that he only does facial surgery, so he's an absolute expert at it. Faces and eyes require a specialist because we've all seen what happens if the surgery is off even just the tiniest bit and everyone can tell you've had "work done". None of my family or friends can even tell I've had surgery except that they say my eyes look brighter. I had minimal bruising, virtually no scarring that you can see (even without make-up) and Dr Heinz and his staff were incredibly knowledgable and supportive during my visits. As the patient, I am not the one who should have to constantly call or email. I was extremely patient, and finally able to schedule the consult. Dr. Heinz met with me and recommended a brow lift along with the blepharoplasty. At that point I trusted his professional opinion and scheduled the procedure in three months. Fast forward to 2 weeks before the scheduled procedure when I was scheduled for the pre-op appointment. At this appointment the procedure details are finalized and full payment of services to be collected. I sat in the patient room for 45 min wondering what was going on. Dr. Heinz walked in and stated that he had "bad news"--he had broken a vital surgical drill piece which is critical for his execution of the brow lift. I was in total disbelief that this established surgeon only had ONE instrument like this, and without it, could not approach the surgery in the way he was accustomed. I, personally, had to brainstorm and suggest that he contact other plastic surgeons in town to possibly borrow the tool, since it was no longer "available" on-line. I left the office with Dr. Heinz's word that he would definitively have confirmation of our ability to proceed, or not, the following Monday. Monday passed with no phone call from anyone in his office, and Jennifer was "out that day". I emailed her explaining that I needed to know how we were going to proceed since I had advised my business clients 3 months ago that I would not be able to accept their work assignments. I finally receive a call from Dr. Heinz, just days before it was scheduled, stating that he would be able to do it with a different tool that was suggested by a fellow surgeon. By that time I had to get back to my clients, and it was impossible to go back and forth with my commitment to them, so I informed Dr. Heinz that I would have to re-schedule it in 6 mos - September. He apologized about all of the inconvenience and offered to take 50% off of his surgical fee for the procedure at that time. He further stated that he felt that was the FAIR thing to do considering all the hardship I encountered. I emailed Jennifer twice informing her of Dr. Heinz's offer and asked her to confirm the September date. After the 2nd email with no response, I received a certified letter from their office informing me that Dr. Heinz had decided to release me as a patient and wish me "the best of luck". It is obvious that after thinking about the discount, he and his wife who run the office, decided to back out. It is inexcusable and embarrassing that, first of all, he didn't have a 2nd instrument for the surgery, then secondly, give his WORD to me personally, and fail to deliver on his promise. I not only lost a lot of business from my clients, but financial loss from withdrawing 401k funds with tax implications, of money that was going to be paid upfront for the initial scheduled surgery. I am in total disbelief of everything that transpired, from the continual lack of communication, to the unprofessional staff and surgeon who failed to honor his word. This surgeon may be talented but cannot be trusted.
