Yes, I do recommend this restaurant. We finally made it here for brunch at 9:30 today. No room for lunch! The service was very pleasant, and prompt, although they made mistakes on both of our orders - small ones, but noticeable and easily fixable, which they did immediately. The coffee was meh, but I'm a coffee snob, so no surprise. They're only open until 2:00. The food was great, and very filling. I would definitely like to go back! read more

Jon's is the hot spot for locals so honestly it's always busy. Service is quick so it's never a long wait, but it's to totally worth the short wait if you do! Please keep in mind they are not open on Sundays or Mondays, and all other days they are only open for breakfast and lunch (7am-2pm). The restaurant itself is cozy, but on the smaller side and is right next to the train station so it can get a little loud when the trains roll in. We are used to it though so we don't really notice it. This is a family owned AND operated business - from the wait staff to the kitchen staff - and the owner works IN the restaurant every day. They are incredible people and so friendly to everyone they meet. If you want a good recommendation for a dish - there's only one thing we eat and we get it every week. Sometimes we dine in, and sometimes we take it to go: the breakfast poutine. It's made with home fries and a made-from-scratch hollandaise in place of the gravy you'd find on a traditional poutine. ITS INCREDIBLE!!!!! 10/10!! My husband and I often split one because the portions are huge. But if that's not your thing, then the omelettes are popular, and I personally also love the breakfast bagel sandwich. If you have a bit of a sweet tooth - save room for their homemade coconut cream pie - it sells out by end of day often, so if you're full just grab a slice of pie to go. read more

Make no mistake, what seems like a quiet and unassuming brick red building actually holds a proud reputation for being the best breakfast nook in town. I've made the trip from Los Angeles to Brockville a handful of times and have become very acquainted with this quaint family restaurant. First introduced to the place by my Canadian honey, I was hooked after my first order of eggs and bacon, and gladly continue to come back for more. Recently refurbished, Jon's is updated with a flat screen television and a beautiful and less cluttered interior. However, even with the renovations, Jon's manages to hold onto that nostalgic and magical feeling of the Locomotive era. Model trains and rustic oil lamps decorate the upper walls while wooden tables and chairs sit along the newly varnished floors. At the front of the restaurant, bar stools rest snugly along the breakfast counter while a fireplace hibernates near the tables in the back. Regular diners tend to be made up of families and seniors, keeping the atmosphere both busy and friendly. The waiting staff never fails to greet their guests with a smile and the food reminds you of a true home cooked meal by your favorite grandmother (as in, the place generously incorporates butter and salt, so prepare your tastebuds)! Tea or coffee comes with most breakfast selections and a big blackboard along the dividing wall informs you of the ever-changing specials of the day. When I found myself awake and at loose ends in Brockville earlier than I typically consider opening my eyes, I asked a local gas station attendant where I should have breakfast. The patron in line behind me told me, without hesitation or reservation, that I should go to Jon's restaurant. Seating myself in Jon's, I was promptly offered a menu, and tea or coffee. I ordered the two-egg breakfast, over easy, at the top of the menu as my tea arrived, and my meal arrived shortly thereafter. The eggs were cooked as requested, the bacon was just crunchy enough, the toast was perfectly buttery, and the deep-fried home fries were excellent. I was quite happy with my breakfast. I'm not sure how they bill themselves, but I found it to be a pleasant compromise between a diner and a family restaurant. The décor is closer to family restaurant, authentically so with real wood, I think, but the food and service felt to me more like a nice diner - and I mean that as a compliment. All in all, I may not frequently find myself in Brockville, but I would certainly go back to Jon's when I am. read more

It can be busy at times but the food and prices are good, if you enjoy trains you can watch them go by the North windows as well. The family and I dined at Jon's restaurant yesterday during a brief visit to Brockville. Was our first time at Jon's and we were very happy with the experience. The menus were posted in the window and were easy to read from the parking lot. We called in our order and it was brought out to the car. We all ordered different things (fish, salad, sandwiches) and everyone loved their lunch. It was a lovely meal, with great service. And it felt good to support a small local business. Went for an early dinner. Restaurant seems clean and quiet. Parking lot outside is smaller, and they have a helpful sign warning patrons against parking across the street on CN property. (You will be towed.) I ordered the Fish&Chips. I was disappointed by the (seemingly) factory-fish. It was served with a generous portion of factory fries. I had assumed since the restaurant was tagged for "Fish&Chips" that they would be prepared on site rather than brought in. My father remarked that he found the coleslaw to be quite salty. We both ordered the coconut cream pie, the only pie prepared on site, and found it to be quite good with a nice pastry. Overall, Jon's Restaurant does a good job at being a family restaurant. The menu had a decent selection, it was your typical Canadian cuisine I would say. They give you great portion sizes and the food was good.
