Prices are reasonable for the quality and taste of the food presented. The chef is particular in sourcing high quality ingredients that when prepared has a unique taste. Some standouts: Seafood Chowder, Burrata cheese served with heirloom tomatoes and balsamic drizzle; petite filet mignon, and a wonderful gelato spumoni encased in a chocolate shell. I know the restaurant has had its ups and downs in recent months, but it is well recommended for a revisit or a first visit. Easily the best dining experience I have ever had in Northern NY.

Unfortunately,…read morewe couldn't sit outside because of the rain, but our table inside still offered a great view of the water. The restaurant wasn't crowded, but there were enough guests to give it a nice atmosphere. It felt comfortable, relaxed, and not noisy at all. We started with the Kung Pao Cauliflower, which was excellent. Even my kids, who don't usually enjoy vegetables, ate every bite. For their meals, both kids ordered brick oven pizzas. My older child had the Labrador and finished the entire pizza by himself, while my younger child ordered the Authentic with pepperoni and really enjoyed it. My wife ordered the fish of the day, and I chose the scallop special. Overall, the food was very good, the service was pleasant, and the waterfront setting made for an enjoyable dining experience. I would definitely return the next time I'm in the area.

I was confused as to whether that's the norm, as almost every table was available, yet they expected that we had reservations. Sat outside and our waitress wasn't very quick, to our dismay. Drinks were terrible (Bloody Mary and matcha latte) but food was great. Took us much, much longer than we expected for a "quick" lunch, about two hours, but left happy and fed, overall.

Jake's on the Water - The contrast of lighting doesn't show this well, but we had an "interior" table tucked well back but still had a great river/lake/flow view.

She had the Artic Char. Wow. The grilled veggies were divine, and the mashed potatoes that the fillet was sitting on had the perfect melt in your mouth to texture. A great plate of food! Everything was excellent, from the elevated service, to the decor, to the music, to the cozy and elegant ambiance....and the food blew us all away! You don't always expect to be full when you leave a nicer restaurant, but Riva was an exception- the portions were generous. The sourdough was delectable, the caprese ingredients were fresh and colorful, and my pasta was hearty and full of vegetables. The chicken breast I ordered to go with my pasta was moist, but bland- perhaps blackening it or simply adding more seasoning would help. My husband's pizza was sooo garlicky (in the best way possible!), and the crust was an ideal texture and chewiness. My mother in law ordered the fish of the day, which was salmon with a mint cauliflower puree and asparagus- it was delectable! My father in law ordered the spaghetti aglio e olio and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were so satisfied when we left, but wish we had left some room to sample their desserts. If/when we return to the area, we will most certainly be visiting Riva again!
