    Donuts

This spot had good, standard donuts. Someone from work brought in these donuts at our team day. I had the glazed and twist donuts and they were pretty good. Big, fluffy, and not too too sweet. They also weren't too greasy, but I did notice some grease stains in the box from the cake donuts. The other donuts looked pretty good too.

I spy da plain (my favorite) and cinnamon crumb (fresh and decent this morning). The one and only maple bar in the box was a B.

Convenient and quaint. In the mood for Sunday donuts - Jon's is bookmarked so we gave it a try. Da plain, the donut by which I judge every other was decent; likely fresh and would have been great first thing in the morning. Can't say it was the best I've ever had, but it wasn't awful. The cinnamon crumb was fresh but not nearly as delicious as those served at Oh Those Donuts (now closed). The cinnamony Cronut at Redondough is probably better than the cinnamon version here, but I wouldn't discount Jon's especially if I had one first thing in the morning. Don't think I'll ever find another epic cinnamon donut like OTD, but I won't stop looking. At the time we stopped in, there was a steady stream of customers stopping in. Good sign. The maple donut loving housemate said she'd grade hers a B. Which isn't too shabby, she loves the maple rings served at The Donut in San Pedro - she grades them an A. Considering the driving distance to The Donut, these are indeed a solid good choice.

This doughnut store is near the corner of Artesia Boulevard and Crenshaw Boulevard. It is in a strip mall with shared parking right behind the Shell gas station. I visited this store to get some donuts for my co-workers at my previous workplace. They serve fresh and excellent French Crullers here! Please try them if you have a chance. Friendly service with delicious donuts at this place! And this may be the place for those searching for a small business serving some great food. And they certainly would appreciate your full support especially during the COVID situation!

Usually great service and great sandwiches/ donuts... this morning however my coworker was given a croissant with hairs in it .. Not one but like 3 He called to let them know and all they said was sorry. Didnt offer to make him a new one or anything. smh

Not just donuts... check them out!

This donut shop has always been one of my favorites since childhood. So many fond memories of sitting and having a donut with my grandmother or picking up a dozen Saturday mornings. Friendly family ran by the same people for as long as I can remember and that's like 30 years at least! I had the pleasure of having some of their donuts today and they are the same great taste and freshness and they don't cost as much as some of the other local donut shops. They have all the classics. I love them!

    Crumble donut. Very tasty

The little guy that could, did. And they win big time!! Location: Right behind the Shell gas station on Crenshaw and Artesia Blvd hides a little gem with private parking although it is shared. Small shop located in a strip mall Food: I came here on two different occasions and both times the products I chose for a reason: nostalgia. First visit: French cruellers and twists have been around for decades and if you can't do this right, you have no business running a donut shop. Light, airy, fluffy and almost melting in my mouth, the only way these could have been any better was if they were warm right out of the cooling racks. I was tempted to go back for a 3rd donut. That almost never happens!! 5/5 Second visit, I came for a donut crumble and a sandwich. How can you go wrong with a sandwich? It's hard to and for one below $5? You can't beat it. The crumble donut was soft and had this slight crunch on the exterior that was the clincher for me. The croissant sandwich wasn't bad at all. Would have been a 5/5 if the croissant had been warm or toasted, but, I'll still take it Yep, the locals know this place has it going on Price: More than reasonable and why I love mom and pop shops. My second visit, I got a small carton of milk, the crumble and the sandwich all for $6.45. Can't beat that price. Summary: If you're searching for a small business to support that makes great food, give these guys a try and you won't regret it. Run by a very nice couple with great service and even better donuts, I will gladly give them my business. They put the large chain guys to shame. I sat there for close to an hour just watching and the line tends to stretch around 8 am, but it goes fast. The selection of donuts is decent and they are open VERY early (ie: 3:30 am!!). They do cakes too!!

During my freebies birthday run yesterday, I was planning on going to Old Ferry Donut after picking up a boba next door, only to find the shop closed. \(`0´)/ Known for unique flavors & vibrant retro-pop 70s branding (cute hamster mascot with bold orange & brilliant blue colors; it's featured on 2-/4-donut boxes), this Korean-inspired premium donut shop originated in Seoul a decade ago before expanding to several S. CA locations, opening in Torrance a couple of years ago. OFD's donuts are popular for its rich creams & chewy dough; Butter Pistachio & Crème Brûlée are just 2 of their signature flavors. I was going through a donut phase when I initially stopped by Old Ferry Donut. Large windows let lots of light in, & once you step across the threshold, you're hit with a strong K-pop vibe & loud music. They even had a collab with SEVENTEEN last fall during their tour with 2 flavors: Marble Strawberry & Blue Coconut! Unlike the regular mom & pop's or commercialized donut shops, they don't offer a discounted 1/2 or full dozen box. After asking what's their most popular picks, I chose Butter Pistachio & Crème Brûlée, & added Lemon Poppyseed & Raspberry Ring for myself, Cookies & Cream & Boston Cream for the kiddos. Service was alright... I didn't need a sales pitch, but would like some info on the donuts to make an informed decision since they're at a premium price even though they're not "freshly made" (every hour or less) like SD&C just down the street. The Butter Pistachio is a major hit... fluffy & light, a slightly chewy yeasty donut stuffed with a mildly sweet whipped pistachio cream filling & topped with a salty-sweet buttery streusel... how can you not be addicted? And totally worth it! Crème Brûlée is also popular for its delicate, crackly caramelized sugar crust & airy brioche dough that's filled with a rich vanilla custard. Good flavor, but maybe on the older side? Since it's been sitting for awhile, it lost that fresh fluffy texture & was kinda dry. I really liked the Lemon Poppyseed; it's right up there with Butter Pistachio. The lemon glaze is just the right amount of sweet & tart, & the donut was fresh & fluffy! The Raspberry Ring is pretty good, matching that sweet & tart of Lemon Poppyseed, but I like the citrus zing of the latter more. What's different is the former has a raspberry jam filling in addition to a glaze & the latter is just a yeast donut with fruity glaze. Kids didn't say much about Cookies & Cream & Boston Cream... I figure you can't go wrong with these flavors. The filling might have been a bit much as I saw the cream oozing out of the donut & onto my LO's face & shirt. His sister was slightly better at containing the custard blob. LOL With premium prices, It's debatable if Old Ferry's donuts are worth it... quality, freshness, & size. Hmmm... I like them & their creative flavors, but they're a tad too sweet & not as "fresh" in comparison to SD&C. Sad to see Old Ferry Donut permanently gone from the South Bay, but they still have locations in San Gabriel & Buena Park if you're willing to take a drive. Recommended: Boston Cream $3.95 Butter Pistachio $4.95 Cookies & Cream $3.95 Crème Brûlée $4.95 Lemon Poppyseed $3.95 Raspberry Ring $3.95

Fresh, they eat more like a pastry--super moist, rich without being heavy, and none of that dry crumble. Chocolate (Valrhona) is the one--deep, smooth, perfectly tender. The vegan strawberry matcha is a sleeper hit--the strawberry glaze smells like a field of ripe berries and actually makes you pause before the first bite, with the matcha keeping it grounded. They only had two raised that day, but both delivered. Vanilla was soft and airy, and the huckleberry had that bright tart-sweet glaze with zero fake flavor. Only note: don't over-order. The donuts are always fresh, soft, and made exactly the way you hope a neighborhood donut shop would make them. I'd honestly put them up there with some of the best donuts in the area. My personal favorite is the glazed twist. There's something about how light and airy it is that makes it stand out from everywhere else. It has that perfect texture where it almost melts in your mouth with every bite, without ever feeling too heavy or overpowering. Pair it with a fresh coffee in the morning and it's hard to beat. I've noticed some people complaining about the credit card processing fee, but personally, I think supporting small businesses means understanding the realities of running one. Places like this aren't giant chains with massive corporate margins, they're LOCAL spots that have been serving the community for years and doing it well. If a small processing fee helps them continue making great food, and staying afloat in an increasingly expensive market, that feels like a fair trade-off to me. I'd much rather support a family-run shop like this than see places with real character disappear. If you don't like the fee, you can simply pay with cash next time.

Soft, warm, slightly sweet, and impossible to stop eating. We ordered the BBQ Mix Plate, Lava Bowl, and some Spam Musubi. The BBQ mix plate definitely hit the standard of a solid Hawaiian BBQ meal, but the real MVP there was the teriyaki sauce. That sauce carried hard in the best way possible. The spam musubi was also really good, but what made it stand out was the presentation. They cut it nicely and served it with cucumber and ginger on the side which made it feel way more elevated than the average musubi stop. Now the REAL star of the night was the Lava Bowl. That dish was incredible. The sauce was packed with flavor and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Every bite made me want another one immediately. The ambiance was awesome too. They had a really cool fish tank that added to the whole vibe and made the space feel lively and welcoming. And somehow we STILL weren't done eating.
