The after, Mike called me about the rug and offered to deep clean the rug again and take care of the situation. After about another week the rug definitely looks much cleaner and more revived! The shag fibers aren't as tangled anymore and other is significantly less. Greatly appreciate the timely response and redo for no extra cost. Thanks again! read more

These guys are great! The experience was pleasant and easy from the first phone call to the completed cleaning. Pricing was reasonable. For context, I had my sectional couch cleaned and it looks almost new! I have a *very messy* toddler and English Bulldog, so there was a LOT of clean up to be done, including several stains. Will definitely use them again! read more

Jonny On The Spot - Carpet Cleaning Near Me - Niles, Illinois

Wow. I can't speak about there carpet cleaning or any other services this company may or may not offer. But they claimed to be "trained mold removal experts". So l" I paid $750.00 to have a small section of my small 100sq ft kitchen cleaned. What we had discussed wasn't even close to the service that they provided. When I asked the owner about why so much filth was still on the floor, he became extremely argumentative. He then proceeded to tell me that if I actually wanted the floor clean it would be 3,000 instead ! What?! I would stay far away from them if you actually want anything cleaned. I attached pictures of my floor after I spent $750.00 to have it "cleaned". read more

I highly recommend Michael and his team at Jonny On The Spot! Wow did we get lucky. One of my neighbors at our condo took a leaky bag of garbage down our front carpeted stairwell. It stained the carpet and smelled awful. I called Jonny On The Spot and spoke with Michael. He gave me a ballpark estimate and in speaking with him I was very impressed by how knowledgeable and honest he was. We had to wait with the stench for a couple weeks to see if our management company could provide a better quote. They didn't, so we scheduled with Michael. He gave a slightly revised estimate once I called back with measurements and then I opted for some extra treatment but we were still way under the mgmt company's qoute. I should mention that this is a low pile industrial type carpet that is over 15 years old and has only ever been vacuumed. Never washed. We're the first building by an alley and restaurant grease is visibly tracked up the stairs. So it wasn't pretty even before the garbage leak. Michael and team showed up on time. They worked fast, gave more explanation and were honest about expectations. I saw the water extracted from the carpet and it looked like mud. Holy cats! It's been a couple weeks now and the carpet looks almost brand new after so many years of neglect. There was still one thin trail of stain that didn't come out but Michael came out and took care of it by hand to where it's barely noticeable. Michael, again thank you and wow! read more

I just had 6 area rugs cleaned by "Jonny on the Spot".  Two of which are cow hides.  They were very dirty and dusty due to construction.  Michael did a superior job. They actually look brand new.  The service was very professional and high quality. I could not be more satisfied. Outstanding company!  I highly recommend them for your rug cleaning needs. After bringing my 6 year old couch to our new home, my girlfriend decided it was time for it to be cleaned. We searched for a company willing to work in a high-rise in the Loop, as many companies operate from their truck and cannot service tall buildings. The stellar reviews of Johnny on the Spot, specifically Carl, decided for us to give them a shot. Carl showed up on time, was very professional, and gave a great deal of information on the process. The quote we were given beforehand was accurate, and there were no hidden charges. He spent a good amount of time doing the pre-treatment, cleaning, sanitizing, and vacuuming of the sofa to make sure the 6 years of dirt all made its way out. At the end he showed me what came out, and proved my girlfriend right. In a few years from now, when i need my sofa or mattress cleaned, i know who i will be calling. read more

Jonny On The Spot - Carl hard at work making my couch bright again! - Carpet Cleaning Near Me - Niles, Illinois

So I was painting my nails scarlet one day when my clumsy self knocked the bottle of polish sideways on my cream sofa. I believe there was a Hitchcock-esque scream, followed by tears. I tried to get the polish out with copious amounts of nail polish remover, alternated with vigorous scrubbing. The stain faded but was still prominent. I searched for 'Dear Heloise'-type tips online and moved to ammonia next. Desperate measures for a desperate woman! I called Johnny on the Spot to the rescue. My crisis management team quoted me $10 per linear foot plus $25 extra for the spot cleaning. They also warned that the nail polish and surrounding area (stained with acetone and ammonia) may not come out and that it could damage the fabric. At this point, I was happy to pay $175 for a chance the stain could come out vs. $1500+ for a new sofa. I left my keys with the front desk so they could have entry to my condo while I was at work. They called on their way over, and once again with a final estimate. Coming home after work, I was all pins and needles in anticipation... and walked over to a spotless sofa! Highly recommended. read more

Sometimes those envelope mailers full of coupons DO come in handy. I needed my carpets cleaned ASAP before I moved into my new apartment. I called Jonny on The Spot on Thursday night and they gave me an appointment for Friday Afternoon. Phew! The time windows service places give you (ie. we'll be there between 1-5 PM) are pretty annoying, but JOS said they would come between 2 and 4 and they promised to CALL 30 minutes in advance. They did and were there by 3PM - not too shabby. The actual carpet cleaners were friendly, professional, and accommodating. They got us the best deal with our coupon and scotch-guarded the main room even though it was technically "two" rooms. Woot! I'm impressed. The overall experience was painless. The price was a little higher than some competitors but definitely worth every penny. Got some grimy carpets? Jonny won't do you wrong. read more

I purchased the You Swoop which entitled me to 600 sq ft of cleaning. I called to make my appointment and was told that there would be an additional charge to clean my area rugs (at the cost of $1 per square foot) which was not covered by my You Swoop. I reviewed the details of the You Swoop and there was no indication that area rugs were not included. When I inquired about this I was told that area rugs require different equipment and that they would have this equipment on hand when they showed up for the appointment and I could decide at that time. They showed up early (suprising because usually service folks show up at the end of their window and sometimes later) so that was a step in the right direction. He quoted me a price of $50 for cleaning my 8x10 area rug which I agreed to but then asked him to throw in the 2 small runner rugs. The price then went up to $75. Also there is definitely a hidden charge of $19.95 for pre-treating. That wasn't even offered up as an option to waive. In all it ended up costing me $94.95 plus the cost of the You Swoop to get all my rugs cleaned (I only have one small patch of carpeting so I didn't even come close to the 600 sq ft even including my area rugs). I wasn't ecstatic about the price but it was a better value that some of the other places that I checked out. Well imagine my suprise when he was done with the area rugs, my carpeting and the two rug runners in about 25 minutes including the pre-treatment. It should be noted that there was no need for additional equipment to clean my area rugs and when I questioned the technician I was told that that is only required for wool rugs. Why then, was I charged an additional amount for the area rugs? I was told that they required different cleaning solutions - which was not pointed out in my discussion during the appointment setup. What was also not mentioned is the $19.95 pre-treatment which, from what I was told, was absolutely required. What I find most interesting is on the receipt I received it is stated - No Pressure! No Gimmicks! No Hidden Charges! Fully Insured! . In fact, there are hidden charges ($19.95 for pre-treatment) and there are gimmicks (stating that differenct machinery is needed for area rugs when in fact it was not). I certainly feel that the additional $94.95 that I paid was just a gimmick to hit up all of us folks living in condos with very little actual carpet and mostly area rugs to cover hardwood flooring. While the service was excellent and the rugs look great, I will NOT use them again simply because I feel they are not honest in their business practice. The You Swoop said 600sq ft of carpeting and if it didn't inlcude area rugs that should have been stated... and if it requires additional machinery, then don't use the same machine as you used for my carpet and charge me additional. read more

Purchased a living social deal on a 3 rooms carpet cleaning with Johnny On The Spot. I made the booking and had the carpet clean today. Carl was very professional and did a acceptable job on the cleaning process. I asked Carl to move the couch 3 feet to the left (just sliding it over since there's carpeting on the fllor) and he said he'll do it but he's not supposed to move any furnitire. The deal was "Service includes deep steam cleaning, color brightener, deodorizer, and sanitizer, as well as basic furniture moving and vacuuming" as stated online. Here is the actual link http://www.livingsocial.com/deals/305120-carpet-cleaning?show_missed=true Also, vacumming was supposed to be included. He did not vacuum at all. My 2 cents is telling me when you buy a deal online, it's not stated as what it said and make sure you have a copy handy. The $10 travel fee was annoying, but mostly I put that on Living Social since they really should have listed that on the deal info. I explained to them I had pets etc. when I scheduled it and they said no problem. Only when they get to my house do they tell me I need some $30 pretreatment and some $20 pet sanitizer! TOTAL BAIT AND SWITCH! read more

I hired Johnny on the Spot to clean the ceramic tiles and grout in my kitchen, hallway, and bathroom. The tiles are a light beige that have a lot of grooves that were really gross, and the grout was dark brown that was originally a tan color. I tried cleaning them myself, but nothing ever really worked. I received an ad from Johnny on the Spot and decided to call for pricing. While it was more than I anticipated, it was a hell of a lot cheaper than replacing the grout. The receptionist also informed me that I could get the promotional pricing to have my carpets cleaned since the tile job qualified me for their job minimum. Good deal. Here is where they lose a star (really only half though). They advertise air duct cleaning, so I asked to have them do that as well. I was informed that they no longer clean air ducts in condos "because it doesn't work well." Now, my condo has its own system independent of anyone else and all I wanted was the dust cleaned out. I was disappointed they wouldn't do it. On to the actual work.... I was given a two hour service window, 11-1 and they called at 11:30 to say they were on their way. Danny and Carl arrived by 12 and explained to me what they'd do the the floors and exactly how much it would cost (before doing any work!). They showed me a sample area of how it would look when they were done and got to work. By 1:30 everything was complete. The tiles look great and the carpet is clean. The grout isn't quite perfect, but they explained that sometimes when the original seal isn't too great the color is too stained to be fully restored. Compared to before, everything looks spectacularly clean. They fully dried the floors before leaving, gave me after care instructions (no shoes, only socks for a day, don't wash for 48 hours to allow new seal to set in). Highly recommend them. read more

After 4 years of living in a very dusty high rise, it was time to get the carpets cleaned. I saw the groupon and purchased it (I think it was $45 for 2 rooms. Something like that.) So carpet cleaning has a bit of a science to it (especially if you have pets/pet urine to clean). You first have to treat the carpet with an enzyme to loosen the dirt/dust and then the machine uses water at about 160F to pull everything out of it. **** the groupon does not include the enzyme, therefore is you want the deeper cleaning, you will need to be quoted for it. The cleaning you receive with the groupon gets about 60% of the way down, the enzyme gets you to about 90%. I opted to get the deep cleaning, and I paid extra for it. Mike on the phone was fine. I see a lot of complaints in these reviews on Mike, but come on guys. He schedules appointments, ease up. Carl was the one who came to my house to do the work. Carl was efficient and polite. He had some difficulty finding parking, but he finished everything on time. What I appreciated most was that he took the time to explain everything. What he used and why he was using it. He also was very thorough in his instructions as what to do after he left while everything was drying. The results were fantastic! The original color of the mattress is back and I can breathe again. Everything dried in about 8 hours. I would absolutely recommend these guys, but to avoid problems mentioned in other reviews - get a quote first. read more

They charged $310, for two rooms and a hall. Too expensiv. What Was the fuel charge for? Why couldn't you honor the coupon?

I found out about Johnny On The Spot through Groupon. It was kind of a sign from the heavens. *story alert* See, my roommate and I hosted a party some weeks back and we had about 25 people stuffed into out deluxe apartment in the sky...and then the inevitable happened. My roomie's toilet got backed up and overflowed. Mine, being connected to hers, suffered the same fate. Was it pee? Was it water? I don't know...but my toilet ended up overflowing all over my carpet. And then the mold and mildew began. f. my. life. So, soon after, I got my Johnny On The Spot Groupon email and I knew at that moment I had to call them. I love the guys so much who cleaned my carpet. I should have baked them a cake or something. They were very professional and even got to my place early! They got in every nook, cranny, crevice, etc. and cleaned our party stained carpets and sanitized and handled my mold situation. They moved my furniture around and handled all that stuff while I caught a Michael Jackson video marathon on Fuse. Very pleasant experience. They even showed me all of the nastiness that came out of my carpet. It was an eye opening experience. But I had an unexpected response to all that...I hate carpet now! Ugh, carpet is like a giant filter that soaks up all the unclean things that happen in your home. The next place I'm moving to will have hardwood floors. But until then, I'll be calling them for all my carpet cleaning needs! read more

I just used their service for the 3rd time. I would highly recommend them. They were fast, affordable/competitive, on time, etc. Communication was excellent and my carpets look fantastic now and I have some great education on what to do and what not to do in the future to protect them. I took their advice on some pretreatments this time (not the first two times because admittedly I was CHEAP and on a "deal"). It worked out even better and they hooked me up with a deal as a repeat customer. I will be back and highly recommend them. Thank you Mike!!! read more

My dog got scared by thunder last year. She decided to hide in the fireplace that I subsequently forgot to clean out from a nice fire we had a couple days prior. After the storm cleared out she came out of the fireplace, and made herself comfortable on the couches... all of them. Needless to say we had a mess on our hands. The guys at Johnny on the spot came out THAT DAY. They gave me a very reasonable price, and took their time to get the job done right. I've had the other popular steamer company come out in the past and they are no where as affordable or as thorough as Johnny on the Spot. Oh, and they made sure to keep the noise down while my 1 month old infant took a nap. A+++++++++++++++. read more

I wish I could tell you how good their cleaning services are. Frankly, I can't, because their customer service couldn't get me that far. After calling for an appointment, I was told that a technician would "try to fit me in" to a two-hour time slot. Great, I thought. Alas, when it got to be 15 minutes past the end of the window, I called to see where the technician was. The rep on the phone said that my appointment was conditional, depending upon whether or not another customer would cancel their appointment. I was never told this, and as a result was stood up by this company. If had never called, would they have contacted me? Who knows. If you want them to clean your place, you better make sure the appointment is firm. read more

I've never had a carpet cleaning professional actually give me tips that can help me between cleanings. For example, I love to sprinkle scented carpet deodorizers when I vacuum my carpets every week. Michael revealed that it's impossible to vacuum the deodorizer powder completely out of the carpet, so they sit there and attract soil. Ugh! The benefit might not outweigh the damage that I'm doing. I've tried a number of different types of cleaning services, and he also explained what happens with each technique, the pros and cons. Who knew? I have tremendous respect for people who are passionate about their work, no matter what kind of work they do. I compliment street sweepers, if I can see that they care about doing a great job. Michael certainly earned my respect that day. I discovered his company through Living Social. From now on, no deal will be a better value for me than Jonny on the Spot. read more

STAY AWAY!!!! TOTAL BAIT AND SWITCH! I bought a you swoop deal which should have covered my whole basement. I explained to them I had pets etc. when I scheduled it and they said no problem. Only when they get to my house do they tell me I need some $30 pretreatment and some $20 pet sanitizer or it won't come out right blah blah blah. He said he didn't feel comfortable doing it unless I got the extras because in his "professional" opinion it would not come out right. I told him just to clean what the voucher did as I was not paying them another cent and I don't care about his opinion. In addition, when I called to schedule I said I wanted to get my couch cleaned as well. I told them it was a sectional and they quoted me around $65. Big surprise that when they got there it was "bigger than they thought" and was now $110.... bullsh!t!!! I spoke to a manger named Mike and he was absolutely no help whatsoever. Not only did he try to make me feel like I was wrong, he told me I was better off doing nothing than not getting the upgrades. At this point I don't even care if the carpets get cleaned I just want them to do the work and get the hell out of my house!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!! These people are scumbags, RUN!!! ** FYI, the above is only meant to reflect my feelings about the Company and Michael. The actual cleaner (Carl I believe) was very professional and nice. I purchased the Groupon $29 special. Now I am not that naive to think I would get my whole house cleaned for that. But what I didnt' realize is not only would I have to pay for the extra rooms but I am also stuck paying a "pre-treatment"? HUH? really? So I said "well wouldn't that be part of the service?" nope. I said just clean the carpet. $68.95 later 2 rooms and a hallway were "cleaned". I'll stick with my "guy" who I always use. Always leery of a "deal". read more

There was a bit of hassle with Mike when I called to schedule because my building requires that a certificate of insurance must be on file before a vendor comes in. Lorena at the insurance office was really on the ball - sent over the certificate with all the info required - super. The technician called on time but took 15 minutes travel time to get here - OK, when he arrived he got right to work. I opted for just the plain vanilla cleaning and that worked very well because I'd already pre-treated pet hairballs and such. I'd moved most of the small stuff so there was lots of bare carpet. Paul, the tech, just lifted furniture as he came to it and put little plastic squares under the feet so there would be no rusting. The carpeting was dry after about 11 hours. Had an amazonlocal coupon so the only extra charge was $10 for travel time. Super job. Color me a happy camper. read more

Used them for 3 rooms of carpet per the recent Groupon. They were flexible with scheduling and gave me calls to update the time frame. When I made the appointment by phone, they told me the deal did not include pre-treating, sanitizing or deodorizing and they did mention the $10 travel fee. I declined all pretreating and other extras and there was no hard sell. The rooms looked great when he was done and he even got out a couple stains I thought were permanent. The $10 travel fee was annoying, but mostly I put that on Groupon since they really should have listed that on the deal info, but since I was told ahead of time when I booked the appt it was fine. I had an area rug I asked about but he couldn't do it onsite since it was wool and I declined sending it out. The estimate I think was $75 for it (it's pretty big) which is about what I've paid in the past, just didn't feel like doing it this time. Again, no hard sell! The tech cleaned up after himself well and got all the droplets of water. He was fast (in a good way, not rushing) and took time to answer a million questions I had even though it was after 5pm on a Friday and I was his last job. I see some of the complaints and they sound like communication problems so I get the frustration, but I didn't have those problems. The only reason I took off a star was he said the carpets would dry in 6-8 hours, but it was more like 24 full hours before they felt fully dry to me. But no mildew smell or anything, I guess my carpets just hold water! read more

I had a lovely experience with Johnny on the Spot. They were friendly and helpful when I called to set up the initial appointment. I have nothing but praises to say about Johnny On The Spot. There was a puzzling odor issue in my apartment, and Mike turned out to be my knight and shining armor. Not only did Mike talk me through the best method, he also took the time to speak with the condo manager, and revised the certificate of insurance three times to the condo boards specifications. Did I forget to mention this was the day before Thanksgiving? Exactly. Amazing. Since he knew I was having a really hard time with the odor issue, Mike came himself to treat the area. He met with my condo manager, walked him through the process and did a very thorough job. Oh, and he also showed up 5 minutes early. When other companies had quoted me thousands, JOTS only quoted me a couple hundred. So if you complain about the cost with JOTS, I'm sorry to say that you're just cheap. Good quality service is hard to find, but good quality service for his pricing is a gem. (It's like finding a baby unicorn!) JOTS isn't just looking to make a quick buck. They genuinely want to create long-lasting relationships with customers. And that, my friends, is incredibly hard to find.
