Went into the office for a concern, and he was really dismissive, laughed in my face about my issue, and made me feel really stupid for seeking out help. And this was after the PA said I had a cyst, he examined me for a minute, really not thorough and said it wasn't anything worth fixing. Even if he felt that was the case the way he made me feel dumb for wanting to address the issue was really humiliating. I am a healthcare worker and it makes me really mad when doctors act like this toward patients. Would never go back to that office. And honestly, the PA I went to see should not have let him be that dismissive either. read more

I have received excellent care from Dr. Jones regarding sleep apnea. I had been exhausted over the last couple of years as a caregiver. I approached my primary care doctor at ARC about sleep studies. ARC quickly cut through red tape and I and the Lady both had studies set up just 3 blocks from our house. My results were processed and he made a perfect recommendation for a CPAP. Our insurance is complex, but he even helped in cross-walking equipment firms that covered everything. After one month, I am a new person. Yesterday was the critical first month data collection and thanks to great selection and recommendations, I cleared the requirements for all insurance. I was referred to visit Dr Jones after an accident which landed me in the ICU. He barely examined me for about 2 minutes. He was not remotely thorough. Then he proceeded to make unnecessary comments about my appearance which had nothing to do with my reason for visiting. If I wanted to hear someone tell me "You look younger with your mask on" and "you'd look better without your neck brace", I would have just hung outside the local gas station and waited for creeps to approach me. The only nice thing I have to say is that his audiologist who did hearing tests was amazing and so sweet. I only wish he'd been the ENT as well. read more

I should've waited it out for my regular doctor! I'll start with the good, before the bad and ugly. Nice facilities--parking garage, waiting room, receptionists and nurses! No waiting, very quick and Dr. Jones was on time. Bad-- He couldn't come up with a diagnosis and didn't even feign interest in giving me some explanation (I have a swollen ear and gland). Ugly-- So, he said I was looking at him like he was a jerk or moron. I probably was, but would not have verbalized it. When I said it was just in line with the kind of day I was having, he actually said, "Well, it must be you, because I can get a long with everyone. You seem like the type of person who would butt heads with anyone." When I asked him why he would be so ugly and say such things to someone he has met for under 10 minutes, he apologized and offered to refund my money for the appointment. Uglier-- Just so you don't think I'm some sweet, innocent angel...on my end, I asked him if he was ever taught if there is nothing nice to say--don't say anything? And, I also said, "No wonder you have wide open availability if you treat people this way. No wonder why my sweet, wonderful normal ENT doctor is booked for three weeks out!" I do have to mention they are refunding my money/tearing up my check. Also, when I went in for after hours care, also at Far West, Dr. Jacob Childers was one of the NICEST and most concerned doctors I have ever met. And, in the same ARC system--go to Round Rock with Dr. Meigs if you need an ENT. I'm going to go eat some of my birthday cake now! read more

I have been living in Austin for the last 3 years and it felt as though my allergies were getting worse and worse. I had enough and went to ARC for an allergy panel. Turned out... I wasn't allergic to anything and was recommended to an ENT. I knew that there was something wrong with me because I was getting sinus infections monthly for the past 6 months. I was also excited to know that I had no allergies and can finally find the culprit. Dr. Jones was my ENT and by looking in my nose he already noticed I had a deviated septum and ordered a CT Scan. His manner is very direct and to the point, which would probably deter some people. After getting my CT scan at Austin Radiological, Dr. Jones called me that night to go over the results of my scan. I was very impressed; I've never had a doctor call me ever, especially after 6 on a Friday. I was relieved that I didn't have to wait another week for results. It turned out that my sinuses were filled with fluid and causing all my sinus infections. I needed to fix my deviated septum, remove my ethmoid sinuses and expand my sinus entrances. I was nervous but ready to be done with infections. Scheduling my surgery was super easy, Dr. Jones and his staff were flexible and I felt all the surgery set up went smoothly. All went according to plan for the surgery and on the day Dr. Jones was nice, friendly and made jokes to make me feel less nervous about the surgery. He even wanted to know whom I brought with me to surgery to take me home. He took the time to talk to my boyfriend before and after my surgery making sure he was updated on everything. TL; DR From my experience Dr. Jones is a not your typical doctor, but he is genuine and knows his stuff. read more

Dr. Jones has been my ENT for the past 4+ years. I visit him several times a year as I have terrible allergies which manifest through my EN&T. He has always been on time and hospitable, his nursing staff friendly. Quite frequently he cracks jokes with me, and I have recommended his services to several friends. The ARC location is clean and new and they have plenty of parking. For ENT and Allergy specialties, make sure to enter through the side entrance and not the main ARC entrance, and take the elevator upstairs. read more

I really wish I had read the previous review before actually making an appointment with Dr. Jones. The ENT I wanted to meet with was booked over a month out and now I can see why this one had an opening. First of all, let me say the facilities at the ARC Far West are nice, clean and the rest of the staff seemed incredibly pleasant. The woman who performed my ear test was very warm and welcoming and actually took the time to listen to what I had to say and what my symptoms were. When Dr. Jones walked in he was lukewarm. Okay. It's the morning - we're not all morning people. He barely listened to what I had to say about my symptoms, come to think of it, he didn't even ask. He looked at the chart that according to a machine said I had no fluid in my ear and that my hearing was perfect. He looked in my ears. Shook his head and proceeded to tell me how he gets "a lot of patients like [me] that think they have a problem when [we] don't". I was floored. He continued to tell me that there was nothing wrong with me, no infections, no fluid, no nothing. That essentially I had made everything up and I was clearly just wasting his time - since I am like everyone else. When I asked him why my ears have been popping for months and I have clearly something that is blocking the air creating such pressure ... he had a vague "eh" kind of response. No real answer. Just a potential that it MIGHT be because of allergies. So, when I asked if I should go see an allergy doctor he proceeded to give me that annoyance "she's a hypochondriac" look and say "why? you can but you'll just spend hundreds of dollars to take a test that may say you're allergic to something, may say you're not, may say you're allergic to everything." - Really? Is that what an allergy test MAY say to me ... interesting. He then proceeded to tell me I would be fine with a nasal spray and that I just have to accept that popping my ears in a normal daily occurrence. In all my several decades of being alive and the decade + I have lived in Austin, I have NEVER had to pop my ears and deal with sinus pain, pressure, and ear pressure like I have for these past months. I would NEVER recommend anyone to go see Dr. Jones. He clearly thinks it's a waste of time to actually do his job. read more

I brought my little boy there on a referral from his pediatrician. It was a while back - before I was a "yelper" He is hands down the rudest, most uninterested, worst bedside manner, unpersonable, etc. doctor I have ever seen. And I have seen more than my fair share with cancer and an endocrine disorder. He basically told me that my little boy had nothing wrong with him despite recurrent ear infections for well over 6 months. He and I got into it - words were exchanged. Another doctor came in and his opinion was that the tonsils and adenoides needed to come out. I advised the 2nd doctor that I would like to make a formal complaint about Dr. Jones. The next day the manager over all of ARC called me and advised that formal action would be taken. I thought maybe he didn't like seeing kids but now I see that it isn't just kids. My experience with Dr. Jones is contrary to other reviewers', and while I'm not concerned with making him look good, I felt that since I've had a better-than-avg experience, I should share. Perhaps his people skills training, referenced in another review, has paid off, because I'm a relatively demanding customer and didn't notice any of the previously criticized grouchiness and such. In fact, I'm a demanding medical *customer* concerning timeliness (in two visits, no waiting more than a few minutes past scheduled time to be seen); communications (he spoke at an appropriate level with appropriate detail); and interpersonal skills (good eye contact, friendly smile, good handshake.) BTW, I walked out of a first visit to Austin ENT offices after they kept me waiting an hour past the appt time, and then they brushed off my offer to re-schedule with the generic "It shouldn't be long now." Don't treat me like a child! And so far, that hasn't happened with either Dr. Jones or ARC in general. As a medical *patient*, I think I'm easy-going. I state my problem briefly, outline past history, and then I shut up except for responding to direct questions with concise answers. I'm not going to belabor anything, and I'm not going to state my opinions or my personal research results until I've heard the physician's opinion, and not always then. I appreciate that Dr. Jones didn't pretend to have all the answers for my situation (a persistently clogged ear, unusual for an adult.) Instead, he described the options available, and why he chose a particular regimen. I especially appreciate that he listened in my first visit to my concern about scuba diving - one can't dive with tubes in the ear - and he's bearing in mind my goal to avoid tympanoplasty (implanting drainage tubes in ear) if possible. I've consulted orthopedists whose first and only recommendation is to operate surgically, because - I'm told - that's where better money comes in. So I haven't felt railroaded or condescended to by Dr. Jones; on the contrary, I've felt informed and hopeful. read more

Apparently there is a problem of mistaken identity regards Dr. Kent Paul Jones. The Kent Jones I saw today entered the exam room at 1:15 for my 1:15 appointment. He could not have been more personable. He spent about 45 minutes with me going over various options for my stubborn sleep apnea in detail and was very scrupulous about not making extravagant claims for different surgical options and warning me of downsides. He seemed sincerely appreciative of my having researched my problems myself and having questions for him. I had bought my own pulse oximeter to track severity of sleep apnea episodes myself and he approved. I scheduled a surgery with him with no qualms. read more

I went to see Dr. Jones for the first time in early summer 2015. I had been dealing with terrible sinus infections that would not go away. I was told after my 3rd round of antibiotics to see an ENT. It took a few weeks to get in to see Dr. Jones, which seems reasonable. I have waited months to see other specialists in Austin. Dr. Jones is on time to my appointments. He is very nice and explains things well. He diagnosed me with nasal polyps and explained that surgery was the only way to resolve my sinus infections because the polyps needed to be removed . I was not excited to need surgery but was so tired of sinus infections! My surgery went great. It was done at the Northwest Austin Surgical Center. I have been seeing Dr. Jones regularly, for sleep apnea, sinus infections. etc. and he is very helpful as far as answering all of my questions and explaining everything. Highly recommend! I'm a 16 year veteran of the music industry, and have had my nose smashed more than I care to recount. Some for funny reasons, some not-so-funny. Last year, I went to my GP for help with migraines and repeated sinus infections. After 2 MRI's showed various serious sinus damage and blockage, I was referred to an ENT for surgery immediately. I suffered through 4 more sinus infections, and weekly migraines for an entire year after that to avoid surgery. I didn't want to be re-traumatized, and I was afraid of the pain, frankly. I am a single mom, I work full time, and I don't have people to help me with daily activities. I was afraid of the procedure itself, and of the recovery. During a Holiday migraine, I made a resolution to seek treatment this year, and found Dr. Kent. He came highly recommended by a comrade in the EMS community. His staff were courteous. His nurse Sharon was so knowledgeable. We did a CAT scan on site, and only after did he discuss my options with me, while we looked at my CAT scan. He carefully laid out non-surgical options as well as more than one surgical option I could undergo. (One that left something in my nose post-op to help make sure my septum stayed in place, and one that didn't leave it in...) I told him my concerns, and he told me what to expect. I chose to do a procedure the next week. His nurse came in afterwards, and set my expectations very realistically. ("You might bleed. You might feel major sinus pressure. You might get nauseated. You can't drive for a bit..." that kind of thing.) I was of course afraid the surgery would affect my voice, and I felt all of my concerns were listened to, and addressed. I told the staff from the start that I had PTSD, and they were absolutely amazing in their bedside manner. All of them. All of the visits. The day of the procedure, which I had done at Northwest Surgery Center, my nursing staff was amazing. Dr. Kent met me before surgery, had an informative, professional bedside manner, and the team took me into surgery. I awoke to gentle voices telling me we were through, and within hours, I was home and breathing better through my right nostril than I had in years. Today is 5 days since I had the surgery. I just got the stints removed, and I'm in little to no discomfort. I've smelled several times today for the first time in years. (It's still intermittent, but I can smell!) I cannot believe I waited a full year to do this. I've had no bruising whatsoever. It's painful in a localized, immediate way. I felt like I was well on my way to healing by the day after I had the surgery. My nose clogged and unclogged several times throughout the week, but as long as I was diligent about the saline rinse, I could clear it. I've been singing along to Pandora since the day of surgery, and I feel like I've been given a new lease on life. Dr. Kent and his entire staff are a stunning team. I am truly grateful to have had such a positive, healing experience, and recommend him easily to anyone who's looking for a doctor who will help them understand what's happening, and give you choices. If you need surgery, Dr. Kent is your man. He's thorough, meticulous, calculated, and left my nose in the kind of shape that needed little recovery. He was gentle and kind, and he didn't have to be. He also didn't try to sell me on any plastic surgery while we were doing this. I look the same. I'm in very minimal pain, not on any prescription pain meds, and I'm currently migraine free. 5 days after surgery. I'm very grateful. read more

Dr. Jones spent a lot of time with me discussing my issues of my Nose and Throat during my initial visit. He had to use a small telescope type of thing to go in my nose and down my throat, which scared me a lot. Dr. Jones was very calming, explained everything thoroughly and did it with very little discomfort. I have an anxiety/vagal nerve issue where I can get worked up very easily and pass out; I explained this and Dr. Jones was very reassuring. I was very happy with his professionalism and also laid-back attitude. Dr. Jones is definitely not high pressure. If you're looking for an honest take on your issues, he's great. Upon assessing my throat, he noticed an issue with my nose that I've had all my life, but I thought I was resigned to "just deal with it"; instead he broached the topic of there is surgery to fix it, which was nice to hear. read more

In December 2010 my regular doctor at ARC Anderson Mill ordered a sleep study. I was told that after the study took place I would need to make an appointment with one of ARC's ENT doctors to get my results. I called to make an appointment and they wanted me to wait 3+ weeks to get the results of a stupid test! I demanded my results over the phone if they couldn't accomodate me with an appointment in fewer than 21 days. Suddenly the lady on the phone had an opening with Dr. Kent Jones for 2 days from then. Hmmm. So I go to the appointment and he tells me, verbatim, "I listened to your sleep study and there wasn't any weird shit going on." So...I don't have sleep apnea? Nice diagnosis, dude. I wish that my experience with Dr. Jones ended there but it didn't. Fast forward to March 2011. I had been on antibiotics for a sinus infection for 35 out of 42 days. I had been doing a lot of research about my options and decided I needed to see an ENT. Don't ask me why I even bothered to see Dr. Jones with this issue but I did. He told me that there was nothing he could do for chronic sinus infections but he did offer to put me on more antibiotics...? I made it perfectly clear to him that I was willing to consider having surgery if it would help me but he brushed me off completely. A year later I went to an AMAZING ENT doctor at Austin ENT who immediately told me that I needed surgery. 3 months later I am doing great and having no problems whatsoever. The doctor that did my surgery actually knows Dr. Jones and when I told him about my experience with him he said, "You know, you're not the first person to tell me this kind of stuff about Dr. Jones so it's definitely not you, it's him" He went on to tell me that Dr. Jones has gone through extra courses to achieve additional certifications relating to sleep problems so apparently that's where his interest lies, which is fine, but maybe he should work at a sleep clinic then because it's a disservice to people all over Austin to see patients as an ENT doctor when he's really only interesting in noses that have obstructions leading to sleep disorders. read more

He never even examined me. He said a sleep clinic would call me...a call that never came. His nurse never would answer the phone. A $165 office visit, that's what he got out of visit. I got zilch nada zero. I think you should seek another ENT. read more
