VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! My sisters and I just opened the door and one of the associates came up to us and shoo'ed us away, asking my sister to bring her guardian with her and come back with her parents. My sister told her that I am her guardian, which is true. Then i was told to strictly bring our parents because the associate thinks that I CANNOT PAY FOR MY SISTER'S dress. I wore casual house clothes and because of it, I was looked down upon. I absolutely cannot accept that kind of treatment from anyone, i walked out of their store MAD. The store is very small, yet packed with racks of dresses which leaves extremely limited room for your bridal party (I visited with my five ladies). They have no chairs to offer (save one when asked for) so we were all standing awkwardly close to the mirrors. The woman who works there is capable of making her guests feel uncomfortable. Right off the bat, her first "welcoming" question was, "So have you girls been to other stores? (proceeded to saying) ...because I'm telling you my prices are better" (Pointing towards the cheapest rack). No, she really didn't offer a better deal than the other bridal stores on Columbia Street. She kept insisting during our entire visit that we HAVE to decide "FAST" because the deal will expire soon. She seemed to LACK respect for personal space. She called out the price for each item whenever we inspected a dress a little longer, adding obnoxious comments like "yeah, but that one is more expensive" REPEATEDLY. She asked us if we "have" cellphones so we could leave them out of the dressing rooms (I know why bridal stores are against taking photos of their dresses. Understood). No other store had asked us about our cellphones to leave behind prior to entering the change room--save this one. Those dresses she was advertising to us were not amazing to begin with, they looked mediocre. I have no idea why she didn't bring us to the nicer ones that were clearly there. BRAZEN, for my taste, to the point of everyone cringing. My friends and I were inevitably turned off by this visit. I will NOT recommend this poor place. Just barely walked out of this store. My mom had read bad reviews prior to visiting this store... the reviews were not far off at all. My mom, my friend and I walked into the store and we were instructed to take our shoes off. The woman who we had suspected the negative reviews were about was standing at the front desk ahead of us. She asked us what we were looking for, we said we were looking for prom/grad dresses. She proceeded to ask if either one of us had already bought our dress'. I said yes, and she asked for specific details. I didn't respond but my mom chimed in saying it was not her business and to stop asking questions. Just by reading her facial expressions I could tell she did not like being told that. It was a huge mistake saying I had bought my dress already because she claimed I had no reason to look around anymore and I said I was helping my friend look. As my friend and I were looking around the store this woman stalked us around, making her way through each aisle making comments about what would or would not fit us just by glancing at us. She had to be only 3 ft away from us the entire time. She made us feeling incredibly uncomfortable and anxious. I forgot to mention we were not allowed to try on dresses right then and there instead we had to book an appointment, expecting us to make another unnecessary trip back. Keep in mind, the store was empty at the time. Since my friend's mom was not with us, I suspect the woman only wanted to serve my friend who had a guardian to pay for a possible dress, even just being able to look around was an inconvenience to the owner. The dresses were nice, the customer service was awful. I would recommend coming to this store only if you can or have someone who can go with you, who can handle this type of woman. Do not go alone! We went on Sunday with my friend who is getting married and other friends to check out the dresses, but the lady i think she's the owner was extremely pushy, she was insisting on my friend to buy the dress and wouldn't let her leave saying she needed to make a quick decision and she was very rude! Jonathan's formal wear in New West is by far the worse costumer experience I've ever had. Let me tell you why. My girlfriend, the bride and the rest of the bridal party step foot into this store. One of the girls and I had arrived earlier that day so we had set a side a dress that we've really liked. So we come back and have the rest of the girls try the same dress to see how they like it as well. We were all set on purchasing these dresses or at the very least pay a deposit on it. The lady who works there was very overbearing. Of course as a business owner, you have to upscale your selling, but this was on a different level. She wouldn't leave us alone to discuss as a group how we liked it let alone let the bride put in her two cents in. We questioned the style of the dress to which we went back to the rack to see other options. I pulled another dress off the rack and we all liked the style of this one. We asked the lady to let us try it. She wouldn't let us explaining that she couldn't order it in the color we wanted in so there wasn't a point in trying it on. I said that we wanted to try it for style. Again she refused and again we asked to try it when she finally gave in. We immediately fell in love the dress. Everything about it was perfect. After a couple of minutes when we saw the dress on my girlfriend, the lady comes back up to us and says, "I don't like this dress on you. It looks like a maternity dress on you." We were all in shock that she could say something like that. We proceeded to say that she was being rude and unreasonable and then she had the nerve to tell us to get out multiple times on top of her lungs while my girlfriend was still in her dress. We started going at each other with profanity thrown as we walked out the door. I have never experienced customer service like that. And especially when we're celebrating such a joyous occasion, we wanted to have as much fun as possible. A great day turned into a bad end. No one should have to leave a bridal store crying feeling ashamed of her body. Definitely disappointed of how everything went down over a dress. Worst experience I have ever recived at a bridal boutique! Firstly i felt that the lady was being very pushy and forcing us to buy a dress. I also felt so offended being called maternity and yelled out to leave in just my bra. I never knew that asking questions about alterations and custom designs would trigger her to react the way she did towards us. So we bought it. We came and picked up her dress and they gave us the wrong color. We told her that this is not the right color and she said that's the color you ordered. The place is jammed packed, no place to sit down if you come in with your family. Because my husband and 2 kids needed to buy wedding attire we all came in. Not even 2 seconds when the lady in the store told my husband to LEAVE with my kids and wait outside in the freaking cool windy rain. I told her I was going to write her a bad review and here I AM!! Bought a dress my daughter tried on which was on a mannequin in the window yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately, we liked it. Paid for it and also paid for alterations and a bra. After I paid, the sales lady tells me I can't take it home. Have to wait minimum 3 months for it to come all the way from New York. Then she even had the audacity to write "final sale" on the receipt. But she said it was a brand new 2015 design. Long story short, I asked several times for my money back with no success. I called my bank. They said I need to go into a branch fill out a form and it will be refunded within a week. That's a really shady store. I'm truly disguisted they are able to do business in Canada. I hope they get shut down. Not even going to go back to the store because I read many posts that they just yell at you. I'm not going to waste my time. As I was walking in, the sales lady (owner) was escorting another customer to leave. She was rude and disrespectful. She told the customer that she has no intention of buying anything and told her to leave. The customer was asking why are you asking me to leave, I plan on buying a dress from my prom if I like it. The owner want none of it, and told her to leave. The owner will ask you the same question as soon as you walk in. Do you know what you want, did look at our Facebook page. You can only try on 2 dresses per day. I understand that the owner do not want 100 plus people trying on the dresses if they have no intention in buying it, cause the person who ends up buying the dress would like it to be "new" and not a "demo". With that being said, to discriminate customer by the way they look and decide if that person has any intent in buying is just pure prejudice. This is something that SHOULD not be tolerated period. This place has the worst customer service I have ever seen. The lady told my friend that was getting a prom dress that she is too fat and needs to go to the gym!! How can you say that to a customer, let alone another human being. She also kept calling us, "your type of community people". As in " you brown people". The lady (owner?) talks to customers in a disrespectful manner and treats you as if you will damage her merchandise and property...."don't stand there, don't do this....don't pull that..." The store is small, cramped and the only place to sit is a piece of board 3 inches off the floor that you have to squat down. I bought a pair of shoes in a hurry. When I came home and pulled off the price tag, the cheap foil lining came right off with the sticky price tag and yeh, all sales final. I am surprised they are still in business. In all of my years - 60 of them, I have NEVER encountered such a RUDE Salesperson!!! From the moment I walked in with my daughter I felt totally like we were being a bother. The salesperson was condescending and told my daughter she could not try on any more dresses...She was going to purchase 3!!!! We left the store after being told to leave and went across the street to Lisas Bridal and there she was treated like royalty and she found a gorgeous dress and they even did the alterations that day! I feel like giving a 1 star review is already very generous.If I could, I would give it a ZERO. This is my first review ever,but because my experience shopping there today was so bad that I basically came home and went straight for the computer. I was NOT surprised by the reviews on here and other sites.This place can suck a life out of you...literally.After visiting Lisa's Bridal which is a story for another day....I thought it could not get any worse.Guess what...it did. But not at first...we were very motivated when we entered the store and I thought to myself great,looks like they have a lot of dresses and my daughter was very pleased and we started to browse.Of course we took our shoes off at the door and noticed there were no pictures allowed (same at Lisa's) and started to pick out dresses. There were 2 sales people there...an older man and woman.He seemed very polite,she did too at first with the exception of being very in your face.My daughter picked out 3 dresses within 10 min but kept being rushed to try them on and the sales woman kept saying you can only take 4 dresses like every 2 mins..So she gets to the room,and at first is given a kleenex to wipe the makeup off her face ( which she had none).Then it went downhill very fast.. My daughter comes out in a beautiful dress which in fact we both liked but that woman kept rushing us to make the decision saying over and over again that it was the last day to order,you have to buy it,it is your last chance,you buy it then take picture post on FB,nobody can buy it after you,we order it in, it takes 3 months,and on and on and on ....to no end, I happened to mention to my girl that her grandma wanted to come with us but she was still in Vancouver and so she chimes in very rudely and says grandma can see it when she buys the dress.She doesn't need to be here,and then she started to talk to me as if I was 10 yrs old or completely stupid.That was completely not ok.And then she turns my daughter around and says to 2 other girls with their family in the store,look you can have this dress that she is trying on,you buy it and then no one else can buy it...I mean how rude and how pushy! Do you really think that after all of that, you're going to force me to spend $400 on a dress just because you threaten me with selling it to someone else in the store? She then took that dress off my daughter and instead of putting it in the maybe pile she put it back on the floor and proceeded to harass her to hurry up with the other 2 dresses,which she then started pushing on us all over again.After the 3rd dress my daughter wanted me to get her another dress which was too much to ask for,I brought the dress,this woman put it back,I ask the guy for one off the mannequin which took him 10 min or so after which she was already at my daughter's throat asking her if she was done yet....when all she was doing was waiting for the dress!!! That dress turned out a completely wrong colour upon which she said you already tried on 4 dresses you cannot try anymore on today.I was shocked.My daughter felt so pressured to buy that first dress but she was not completely sure about loving it and still wanted to browse but was denied that opportunity because the first 4 dresses she was rushed to try on were a wrong choice and basically too bad for you.... And if that was not enough.....while I was standing at the door txt'g my husband that we were coming out any minute,that guy comes up to me and says "You're not taking pictures are you?"!!!! So I showed him my phone and said of course not...I can read the sign on the door! How absolutely rude.... These people do not know what customer service it.They treated 2 other girls in the store the same way upon which they left with nothing.I have worked in retail for many years and I have seen a few bad employees...but this is the first.I thought car sales men get the worst wrap! Well,maybe whoever said that never visited bridal shops before......this place is a joke.They smother you then they belittle you and in the end you're exhausted and last thing you want to do is spend money in a place like this. These people know their stuff! I was looking for a simple grad dress on a budget, and this was the place to go. I went to the New West location, and the lady that helped me provided more honest and useful advice than the people I brought with me. She obviously knows her stuff and has much experience in the field of dresses. Her great customer service proved to be even better, since all of the dress places I went to before couldn't even compare to the level of care I received here. She helped me find my style, gave me great advice about colour/ style, and found me the most amazing high quality dress for 180$. The store cares a large variety of styles, despite being a bit smaller than the most other shops. The dresses were also great quality for very inexpensive. read more

However during fitting my leather boots got stolen and the response I got from the owner was it wasnt their responsibility. Nothing was done, no apologies. Instead I was given 5 dollar slippers for walking to my car and expected to return these when I came back next week. I came back next week and still no concern over what had happened while I was in the store. In conversation I had addressed to the owner I had spent over 700 dollars for the dress and alterations and yet no compensation for my loss. the owner got very defensive and rude when I had discussed my concerns. My friend and I went in this afternoon to look for grad dresses for her. Upon arriving in Jonathans, a man standing at the door asked us if we had money to buy a dress. We were uncomfortable but said yes, and he said ''that's good because when the girls don't come with their parents they waste our time''. We went to look at the dresses when a lady told us that she was going to ask us a few questions--Where have you gone before this? Can I see pictures from the other stores? After showing her pictures and telling her the other stores we visited, she just had a disapproving look on her face and said that her store had WAY better ones. She pulled one out and gave it to my friend to try on. My friend asked if there were any more dresses and she just said no. The whole store is full of them and we virtually weren't allowed to look since she was watching us so carefully. She told her to leave her phone outside before changing. My friend came out of the change room and the lady asked her ''So you've made your decision, right? You're buying this one?'' My friend said she wasn't sure and the lady just said ''We absolutely do NOT hold. Be smart, this is the one." We just said we would come back later, still extremely uncomfortable with the environment and the customer service. We went back an hour later, and the lady said ''I knew you would come back for it''. My friend was about to make the purchase when the lady got mad that my friend asked if she could see another one of the dresses first. We left and thanked them (reluctantly might I add) and the lady turned to the man and said in farsi, these girls just wasted our time. Next time we're not going to let young girls come in without their parents. She clearly didn't think I would understand her bad mouthing. All in all, TERRIBLE SERVICE. WARNING DO NOT GO HERE! Had the worst customer service experience with the lady in charge of this shop. My cousin paid $60 for hemming her dress but she did not let her do it without a receipt so due to time constraint my cousin called her on the phone and asked if she could use the $60 to buy a belt instead and she agreed. We went there the day before my cousins prom hoping everything will run smoothly and when we came by, clearly remembering my cousin, she said she would handle it but has to make sure my cousin didnt get her dress hemmed already. Rudely, she said she didnt have the records with her and it also was not on the computer and she couldnt do it until earliest next week. We informed her that my cousins prom was tomorrow and we could wait around for a few hours so she could have time to handle everything. This is when she bursted out SCREAMING FROM THE TOP OF HER LUNGS around other customers, slamming her pen then slamming the door on us, completely going INSANE, telling us to get out of the shop. When we did, other customers followed us out and told us to report her for what she did to us. SHE FOLLOWED US OUT OF THE SHOP, SCREAMING TO US IN THE PUBLIC SPACE where she clearly had no authority. My cousin was SHAKING from the traumatic experience. Maybe feeling guilty, 30 mins later she called us saying that she handled everything and my cousin could now pick up the belt, meaning she was capable of doing it from the very beginning and just refused to. Zero Stars. This was the worst experience I have had wedding dress shopping. I visited Jonathan's a couple of months ago and was absolutely apalled. I went in with my friends and we were immediately told not to touch the dresses on display and the sales lady kept saying that I could only try on four dresses (even though there was only one more person in the store). Then, the sales lady approached me and asked me when my wedding was, looked me up and down and said "You are a large and should try on A-Line dresses." This was completely uncalled for. I had not asked her opinion on what cut of dress I should try, nor did I ask her what size I should try on, and I should have just turned around and that point and left. The sales lady came forward with one dress and said "This is our only A-Line dress in your size." Stupidly, I tried it on. The dress did not fit well. My friend then confronted her and asked her why she felt the need to tell me what type of dress I should be trying on. She got defensive and said "Don't blame me, blame the designers, they make the dresses to fit a certain body type." I came out of the fitting room furious and told her off and told her that she has a terrible attitude. She waved me out and didn't care at all. It was a terrible body shaming experience and I hope that no one has to go through that experience when shopping for their special occasion. I posted this review on the day that this happend on another site, and it got taken down (presumably by them). To anyone reading this, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE believe all the terrible reviews on here and do not give even a second of your time or a single penny to this store. This store is horrible!! DO NOT go in!! I went into this store to look for a dress for this upcoming reception that I am invited to and before I could even take my shoes off the woman working there (older Persian woman) asked me what I'm there for. I found this rude and aggressive of her. The atmosphere of the store is not good the woman harasses you before you can even look around. I tried taking a tour and i didn't even have the chance to pick any dresses and she told me that I would have to take my lipstick off! When i refused she got louder and called me a shit face and said that I didn't want to remove my lipstick because of this reason and also called me a whore!! This is the worst bridal shop I have ever been to and in general, the worst customer service I have ever received. Other than the fact that I, myself, have worked in the retail industry for 5+ years I would have never believed someone could give such horrible customer service. I have been to their Richmond location (in Parker Place where the husband works) and my best friend went to the New West location (where the wife works). They both have the same TERRIBLE attitude. When I entered the bridal shop in Richmond with my sister and mother (my sister is getting married) I was looking for a maid of honor dress and I was willing to spend up to $500 if it was nice. Their store doesn't have a crazy price range. Most were around $150-$280 which were affordable for me. However, once I picked up two dresses to try on, the owner asked me "what's your budget?". You would think he would offer me a change room instead.... I was already thrown off and told him : "if it's nice I don't mind the price" and he said "no, give me a number. I have people trying dresses on and not buying them" and so I responded "$400..or somewhere around that... why are you attacking me? I just want to try this dress on." Does this man not know how to do business? People have to try on dresses to know how it looks and there is nothing wrong with people trying it on and not buying them. IT HAPPENS IN EVERY SHOP TO EVERY RETAILER. Shops like Holt Renfrew will NEVER make comments like that and they sell $10,000 bags and shoes. IT IS RIDICULOUS. I will never ever go back. In fact, after I asked him why he attacked me he told me to leave his store because we were already starting off on the wrong foot. You should provide excellent customer service and meet the customer's needs not attacking them about how much they are willing to spend and their intentions. They also have a location in New West and my best friend experienced the same thing. It is not a way to do business. I'm repulsed by their attitude and I hope they close down! The woman asked us which one the bride was; after I identified myself, she looked me up and down and said "You want an A line dress" and walked away basically labelling my body type immediately. She told my friends not to touch any of the dresses on display and came back to inform me that I could only try on a maximum of 4 dresses that day and left again. She came back to ask me if I want to try on the dress in the window, and I said sure after which she said "Ok good because it's a Large, which is the right size for you." The body shaming did not stop there. After my friends found another dress for me to try on, we brought it to her and she said "You won't like this one because it's satin and it won't look good on your body." Her tone was pure judgement and contempt and after my friend confronted her she said "Don't blame me, it's the designers who make the dress not me." That's all fine and well, but your job is to help the customer find and alter a dress to fit their specifications and not to shame them upon entering your store. When I left, I told her that it is not the designers but her attitude that's to blame. She brushed me of and sarcastically told me to have a nice day. It was the worst shopping experience of my life and I sincerely hope that they go out of business. The way they treat people is unacceptable. Avoid this place at all costs. I wish I had read the reviews before I entered this store. If I could give this place a ZERO, I would. Upon entering this store, right away the lady is disrespectful and very rude. I am a 27 year old female getting married in July looking for my wedding dress. This woman tells me I'm not allowed to try anything on and kept demanding I go bring my mother if I want to shop in her store. Excuse me?? She then proceeded to tell us we're not allowed to do this and that and treated my cousin and I as if we were 15. This is all taking place right when I entered ..I hadn't even looked at anything in the store!! After listening to her rude remarks, my cousin and I decided we didn't want to look in her store because of her lack of customer service. The lady then calls me a BITCH for telling her she had poor customer service. I couldn't believe it!! She continued screaming obscenities at me and we left the store. I would recommend NEVER to go there. You can tell their selection and quality is terrible and the smell of the store is just as horrible as the owner. read more
