While in Prague on vacation we stopped by here for dinner during a day trip to Vienna. This restaurant was fun and family friendly. The decor had several statues of what appears to be similar to Mr. & Mrs. Potato head. Staff was inviting and helpful. When traveling abroad, I always try the local delicacies. So when in Vienna I tried chicken schnitzel. The schnitzel was perfectly breaded and crisp. The chicken was served with roasted potatoes and a side of carrots and mixed vegetables. The potatoes were fresh, roasted, and buttery. The carrots and mixed vegetables were tender and buttery. The service was timely and staff was warm. This is definitely a place to check out if you desire a good meal when in Vienna.

It's a very nice cozy place if you wanna eat some new style Austrian dishes. It's heartwarming ambience with cute decorations. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I like that I could choose between different dishes made out of potatoes than just the conventional Austrian cooking. The menu is adapted to the seasonal ingredients available. The most I like from their dishes is the oven baked whole potatoes, which are always in the boiler. But they would be put into the high temperature level to get the potato skin crispy before serving. And I love the homemade snaps there. The angus beef steak is the best steak I had so far in Vienna. The steak is already pre-grilled (still raw inside) but served on a hot stone. So you could get it cooked to the level you want, while eating.

This place offers traditional Austrian food with a modern, experimental (not always successful) touch. Potatoes play a very important role in this restaurant and if you like them you will be very happy here. I had potato dumpligs filled with blue cheese (great), potato-porcini mushroom soup (great), potato gnocchi with quince, beetroot, and wasabi pesto (not very convincing), chestnut mousse with caramelised apples and sour cherry compote (good). As as potato fan I will come back, there's still so many potato-based dishes to try :-) PS It is also v suitable for vegetarians.

Great food with generous portion and great service. You may want to bring some cash, because there credit card machine is not always working.

    Nice simple euro casual decor

Food was amazing. Probably one of the best in Vienna for modern Austrian food. Would definitely go back.

Really wonderful. They treated us wonderfully and even let us stay late. The schnitzel and potato dishes were really great.

Yummy potato latkes dressed up for a party. Although many other things made of potatoes and/apples.

PERFECT SCHNITZEL ! Loved it. Very clean and a lot of locals here. We loved it and loved the wine…read moretoo! Fast and efficient service. Highly recommended by a local and they were right. Danke!!!

We arrived at Plachuttas a little after 1:00PM and it was not crowded at all. At first we wondered…read moreif we should stay. We did. Sat outside as it was a beautiful spring day. Menus and bread serving arrived. $4.80 per person. Oh well. We decided to share and we selected the white asparagus with a tomato and egg relish with a vinaigrette and an Order of Wiener Schnitzel with potato salad and lingonberries. Our food arrived very quick. Both dishes quite good. Not the best we have experienced in Vienna and not the worst. - Wiener Schnitzel: best one of the week. It was thin as it should be and not greasy at all. Wish it had been cooked with a little seasoning. Salt and fresh lemon solved that problem. 4/5 - Potato Salad: excellent. Almost addictive. Loved the fresh mache and pumpkin seed oil on it. 5/5 - Cranberry Sauce: or as I call it lingonberry sauce. Average. Tasted like out of a jar. But good. 4/5 - White Asparagus: served with a tomato herb vinaigrette with chopped egg. Wish the asparagus had been served warm then topped with the vinaigrette. Would made the dish pop. Very good. 4/5 - Atmosphere: Outside was glorious. Area was spacious. 5/5 - Service: waiter was abrupt and would disappear for lengthy times. Must have been really busy inside. 3/5 - Value: somewhat overpriced. Think the mandatory $4.80 bread service per person put it over the top. I expected outstanding bread and got a very small serving of bread and a pad of butter with a couple of tablespoons of a herb mixture.
