He is a fantastic doctor and diagnosed me very well, while given limited data. I believe he is one of the best in Athens!

This clinic run by Dr Alvin Wilson is the most poorly run group of medical personnel I have ever…read morebeen involved with. I have been a practicing RN for over 42 years and I am appalled by their lack of knowledge, empathy and professionalism. They have called in inaccurate medications to my pharmacy, refused to refill blood pressure, cholesterol and thyroid medication during the height of the pandemic which affected my health. The office on Sunset is very dirty and the overall care is terrible. I would never recommend this practice to anyone.

Beware, this practice is now called "Athens Family Medicine" by the staff on the phone, but they…read morehave failed to change their info online, on the printing posted to the establishment's door, etc. I have gone to APC for about 4 years now. I began when Dr. Hawn was still the main doctor there, and it has steadily gone downhill since she randomly walked out of work and never came back. My most recent issue with them led me to post here. I take prescribed anxiety medication daily, and cannot skip a day without feeling cloudy and miserable. A couple of months ago, upon trying to fill my medication with my pharmacy, I was told that I was out of refills and this needed to call my prescriber. However, in the time between my last-filled prescription and my now-pending one contingent on APC sending my prescription through, they had hired Margaret Opare-Ado, a nurse practitioner who has taken over the practice. Instead of understanding that I could not go without my medication (especially for days at a time) her nurse demanded that Margaret needed to see me before refilling my medication. This was annoying, but I complied. Not wanting to go through the same situation again, I requested, at my first visit with Margaret, that she send my medication to CVS mail order pharmacy in 90-day increments. It took 4 months of me going between CVS Caremark and the nurses and receptionists at "Athens Family Medicine" to see my mail order prescription to fruition. The nurse got snappy with me a couple of times, and even told me on one occasion that it was my fault for "not checking to see if my medication's prescription was fulfilled until I was almost out of my monthly script" (which I kept having to get refilled in months increments at Kroger while waiting for the mail order to get sorted out). Come to find out, after roughly my 5th call with CVS Caremark customer service, I find out that MARGARET HERSELF HAD NOT CHANGED HER PRESCRIBER INFORMATION IN THE SYSTEM. That's why my medication wasn't being fulfilled. I am changing doctors because of the poor attitude of the staff here, as well as Margaret's ignorance to simple formalities/procedures that have inhibited me (and I'm sure many others) from reviving their medications. Don't waste your time with this place.
