In my case, I had a bite plate (top retainer) for about 3 months, top row of braces for around 15 months, and bottom row of braces for around 18 months. As an adult I found it easier to stick to the rules when it came to treating my braces well (as opposed to some of the kids who came in regularly to fix broken wires). I was trying to get them off as fast as possible. Thankfully, Dr. Thalanki gave a (conservative) estimate of 18 months before checking in and seeing my progress. I never had a wire break (one bracket came loose) and I was able to get my braces off exactly on that time. Ensure that if you have any questions to reach out to Dr. Thalanki in conversation, ideally in person. She will have every answer to your questions, even if you don't like it.

Went to have an upper right rear molar removed. I was pretty uncomfortable. I was able to get an…read moreemergency visit within three days which I thought was great. My tooth was so extremely loose that I could've pulled it on my own I did try to and then I felt one little like tendon that was still attached and it made me nervous not to try to pull it on my own. I was at the appointment for I would say minimum 10 maximum 20 minutes sitting in the chair between one x-ray I think two shots of Novacaine, which I'm sure wasn't even necessary realizing how loose my tooth was as a matter of fact, the hygienist or assistant that was there during suctioning said that he told her to stop because she pretty much almost suction the tooth right out. That's how lose my tooth was anyway when it was determined that my mouth was numb enough not that he even really asked me. He just took it out with his hand in one quick motion and one second literally. I was relieved until I got up to the desk and I was told that A I would have to pay upfront and my insurance would reimburse me but that wasn't the worst part of it. I was told it was $525 for the visit, I was there for maximum between checking in and checking out a total of 30 minutes in their office. I cannot imagine how they can possibly justify charging $525 !!!! Before I left, they did say they would try to submit my claim and see if they could get reimbursed and let me know what my co-pay would be but I still cannot get over the $525 charge As if that was bad enough now mind you this was the first time I've ever been to this office when I got home I would stay within a maximum of 3 to 4 hours after my visit. I get an email from the office asking for a donation because they're doing some kind of back to school purchases they just charged me $525 from being in their office for 30 minutes from start to finish and now they're asking me for more money Also, as I was sitting there, I saw someone coming out of the office, their charges were $295. I saw someone else come out while I was waiting. I think it was $150 for a whitening treatment for their teeth so while I was there in the short time, these are the charges that I heard just in the short time that I was there. Another note, I think their office is set up very uncomfortable in the sense that there's no privacy when you're talking about your bill or your situation or your issues or concerns I would never step foot back in this office. Shame on them.

My Invisalign experience was top notch here. Every visit and scan I had to do was done so gracefully with people whom you feel are a friend that you're catching up with. I had a tooth that needed a crown ( I am a big baby when it comes to ALL needles and dentist tools) - but, I couldn't have picked a better dentist office to have done this procedure. I was blown away with the amount of TLC they provide to their patients! If you need anything from veneers, Invisalign, and any dental work, only go here if you want to be pampered! They offered me a warm neck pillow, a blanket, sparkling or still water, Vaseline on lips so they don't chap, and more, every single visit....WOW!!! Most importantly, you have a great dentist who (I think) is like a great artist and very GENTLE and knowledgeable. The entire team here, are so warm and welcoming and they make you feel right at home and at ease. I've never could've envisioned a dentist office this well put together in every aspect :-)

I really don't appreciate that when I get my child's teeth cleaned that only a dental assistant does the cleaning procedure and within 5 minutes she's finished. She barely counted the teeth. She took two bite wing x-rays that came out rather dark for my liking. I couldn't see every tooth surface in those 2 X-rays well, so was unable to fully read it. She didn't floss every tooth. She complained that my daughters teeth are too tight to floss. She didn't scale the teeth with the dental instruments to take away any plaque or calculus. She didn't use a mouth mirror or explorer to check any teeth. She didn't have enough Prophy paste application in the prophylaxis instrument to thoroughly brush her teeth. Once it was gone she didn't apply anymore so that to me it's like brushing with no paste. My daughter couldn't rinse out after the prophy paste cleaning with water or mouthwash. She said spit in a bib. I don't call that a thorough cleaning. I learned dentistry and worked there in tufts university of pediatric dentistry and I worked in two private offices also for many years. and I've assisted the dentist with every possible dental procedure in every dental specialty. I'm very particular in how I do everything. I've never cleaned the teeth by myself alone/unsupervised. A dental hygienist did that. I assisted the dentist with everything as a team. A good cleaning for a child is up to 30 minutes not 5 minutes. The dentists should think through how they set up their office and how they perform the dental procedures more carefully. It upsets me that the assistant has to do everything by herself. She might as well be a dentist. She's a underpayed hygienist in my opinion. It infuriates me to know you let them clean the children's teeth in five minutes and think the job is finished well. That to me is called brushing their teeth only. What made me more upset is when the dentist dr tarifard came she used the explorer a little said it looks clean anyway but let me check the X-ray just in case, then put fluoride and says drink water after the fluoride. I've never heard of this. You rinse your mouth after the cleaning then when you are done rinsing you put the fluoride on and keep it there. That's my preferable way of doing it. The time there was a waste of our time. The dentist says She can eat now and then says don't brush her teeth tonight. The dentist and assistant knew I'm a dental assistant and they asked do you assist now I said I did since I'm 14 years old in high school and I'm 32 now and when I had my daughter I chose to stay home and take care of her fully and their response is oh now you take care of one child now not many children like us. Good job mommy keeping her teeth good. I was so irritated I will never bring my daughter back there again. I will take her to a well educated hospital. Not a half job private practice. Do a better job for people! A dental assistant job is to assist the dentist not be a pretend hygienist or dentist! I only gave one star to the receptionist for being kind to us. She is pleasant. I specifically asked the assistant why are you cleaning the teeth by yourself and she says because the way I am with them is good. I would never understand that. You don't have the title to do the cleaning procedure by yourself. That's called a dental hygienist. Call me old fashioned. But that's the way I was taught. I might as well do the cleaning myself at home if that's the case. That's really a no no. A hygienist has to do it. In my opinion, A dental assistant can do everything possible by helping/assisting the dentist with everything, not doing the whole cleaning procedure unsupervised or just cleaning the operatory and suction the mouth and poke at teeth. That's doing nothing. Five minutes is not a dental procedure. Before I came to west roxbury smiles, I researched that The dentist dr tarifard did the three year program in tufts pediatric dentistry department. So I thought oh she's like me. They will be good dentist then. but sadly I found out she still doesn't do the procedures as they taught her. She makes the assistant do it. It's poke a little look then say everything is clean. I was in tufts pediatric also for many more years than that. They do step by step thoroughly. I didn't show anger because my daughter was with me but I am very upset with west Roxbury smiles in the way they do things. I know A nice hospital hygienist will do the procedures much better than this office did.

At 70 years old I began going to FANIKOS, she examined my teeth, took a mouth of X-rays even cleaned teeth and did 6 filling at one appointment. After a visit last year she said I needed to see another dentist ( specialist) to deal with under crown cavities, I signed a release to send them my X-rays and booked my next cleaning at her, FANIKOS office. 6 months go by I get reminders about my upcoming cleaning and then was told I had been released from FANIKOS to the specialist...yup thrown out of a dentist practice because she did not want to deal with any of my dental work. Never have i had a doctor refuse to see me....I would think doctors are obligated by oath never to refuse anybody, Well at 73 years old I was thrown out because she did not want to deal with my mouth anymore. She suggests a specialist you better see him/her because once you sign the release form to send them X-rays, you will be out on the street like me. GOOIOOOOD NEWS. I am in Florida. I went to another dentist in FLL. THE DENTIST saw me and I explained what front teeth I needed repair. She did not hesitate treating me like an old patient. Repaired 3 and I'm going back for more repairs.....and a cleaning, this is how a dentist, a doctor or any professional should be. To bad I had to go 1500 miles to find A DENTIST WITH A HEART.......and my front teeth are looking amazing. Once back in Massachusetts I will be going back to my old dentist I had for many many many years...he will always take me back. The office staff...the hygienist in FANIKOS office are all great, smiles, and happy to serve....thank you to all of them. My family and I have been going here for the past few years. They have always been great, from…read moreeverything from fillings to orthodontics. But this past weekend, they went from great to amazing! The night before a huge event, a veneer I had for 20 years suddenly came off. I called the emergency line. Even though it was only cosmetic, Dr. Salib called me right back and told me to come it. It was nighttime! She spent her night fixing my tooth, and I was able to have a beatiful smile for the photos the next day.

She had terrible interaction skills with my 4 year old who is new to a dental office (2nd/3rd time). My child had a cavity identified during the initial visit that needed to be addressed. We came back over for the follow up where initially with the [perfectly lovely and child-centered] hygienist, we were told that my child could sit on my lap to make the experience more comfortable for her. The dentist proceeded to come in, and told us it wasn't going to work like that and that she would have to sit on her own to get the procedure done. I don't know if anyone else has ever dealt with 4 year olds, but when one set of expectations is set and then pulled off the table, it typically doesn't go well. As I was comforting her, I can hear Dr. Himelhoch in the background tell my child "Well, you don't really have an option" AS MY CHILD IS CRYING. Then, she proceeded to ask if I needed assistance in restraining my child to get her in the seat. Finally, when my child is inconsolable, she suggested getting the infant lap seat. If that was an option, why wasn't that the initial suggestion instead of waiting for the inconsolable child to get to that level. When I finally told them I did not want to go forward to it today as it was out of control at that point, she then proceeded to address my child with a "I'm very disappointed in you for making this so difficult for you mom." WHAT?!?

We have been going to Dr. H for years. Both of our kids go this office, and one just got her braces…read moreoff and the other one will have them put on shortly. The staff is great, and just as importantly Dr. Himelhoch cares. There have been at least two incidents where I called in while the office was closed for vacation, and she called back personally and met me in her office outside of work hours. For us, we were looking for someone with the education and experience that she has for our kid's braces. Nothing bad to say, sometimes busy and you have to wait a little but they do keep things moving in the office.
