To our surprise one of the starters and one of the main course was brought over; no cutlery; followed a few minutes late by the other main courses and cutlery. The service was actually quite fast and very pleasant and although the table was sticky, the waiter quickly cleaned it properly for us. We ordered some rose wine and 5 plates of tapas (for 3 people). The wine came in 5 minutes and the tapas in fifteen minutes. The quality of the food was variable - squid was over done, nachos and chicken quesillades really nice. The whole lot including 2 bottles of wine came to £75, so £25 per person for tapas and wine...

It has a lovely light and airy atmosphere with big windows offering views out across the sea one side or overlooking the Den (open green space) on the other. If you hoped to have your cream tea 'al fresco' there are two options, a small balcony overlooking the Den with one or two tables or at the front of the building they have a collection of bench tables with umbrellas on the promenade, lovely in the sunshine unless like me you hate being stalked by the odd curious wasp I have been visiting The Beachcomber for years whenever I am in Teignmouth and have never had a cause to complain, the food is excellent and they have a range of of cakes that are simply delicious! They also have a very tempting menu with a daily specials board! All this is made special by the friendly and welcoming staff. I often visit with my Aunt who has a little King Charles and she has been allowed to bring him inside and sit him under the table (on his lead) upon request!

Well no one in their right mind would eat here based on the two previous reviews but our experience…read morehere last evening was completely different. The place was almost full so we asked when we could eat and the cheerful, polite and helpful assistant told us 'fifteen to twenty minutes'. we were shown to our cosy table for two seventeen minutes later. Busy means 'good' in the dining out business I guess. The 'mission' of the Harvester chain is presumably the provision of a good dining experience at the best possible price for the customer. This was certainly achieved here yesterday by, I guess, more than a hundred diners. We tucked into our fresh, crunchy salad (eat as much as you want, no charge for this) and before we had quite finished that our 'Earlybird' fish and chips, with trimmings, arrived. I had the smaller size option of this meal but the fish was still 8" long. Total cost of our meal for two with a drink was under £14. Be fair ! The decor and ambiance were cosy, warm and friendly Car parking is adjacent and free. Easy disabled access with ramps. Not only was a complete list of ingredients available for all food items but there is a calorie count published for every meal in the menu. Where else would you find that ? There appears to have been a staff or management problem in this Harvester about a year ago but following some changes everything is now very professional and good. Harvester are apparently well on top of staffing issues. A young boy on the next table to us accidently knocked his dinner off the table. Hardly before it hit the floor the Assistant Manager was on hand saying 'no problem I will get you another dinner, no charge mum', and so she did within five minutes. Impressive and kind. Provided you are prepared to wait a few minutes for a table on a busy evening you can confidently expect to have a good dining experience at little more than a 'take away' price at this Harvester.
