Ship related and marine objects decorate the light airy, modern interior. The floors are sanded and the furniture comfortable. Welcoming, cheerful staff offered us seats by the open windows beach side or outdoor tables facing the lake, we chose the latter. Our Labrador was made very welcome. Instead, pop just off of the main street, tucked in a side road, to The Mermaid. I had a Cod and Chips, which I could barely even finish for a fiver, a fiver! Given the price of cod in most chips shops I have visited locally, I was amazed. Cheap, tasty, huge portions, exactly what I want in a chippie!
