Okay so Johnson pool and spas ... You definitely can't tell by the name of this business but they have a seriously wide selection of fireplaces and pellet stoves. This is what brought me in there, I was in need of a pellet stove. So anyway, I stopped in one morning and talked to Kristen, for no other reason than she's the lucky one that was at the counter when I got there. She spent a good solid half hour with me answering lots of random questions I had about pellet stoves. I probably took more time with her than I should have however she didn't seem to mind so it was all good. I did go ahead and purchase my pellet stove from here and the experience was very good. Now I will be the first to tell you that I am not the easiest person sometimes to deal with and a lot of that is mostly because of my schedule. Instead of calling Kirsten on the phone to iron out the final details I did 90% of it by email as I work overnights and sleep when their store is open. This worked out pretty well as between her and Shauna they got back to me in the next day and I had my answer that evening when I checked email. I arranged for installation and was even able to talk them into having me install guys show up a little earlier than they usually would, once again because of my work schedule. They were pleasant and professional and got the job done in just a couple hours. I have only had the chance to burn the stove a couple of times since having installed however I am very happy with it and would definitely recommend Johnson's pool and spas if the need arises. I am still waiting on delivery of 3 tons of pellets however I don't foresee any problems or difficulty with this is why I'm posting this review now. In addition to the installation they also come out every year if you require it to clean your stove for the next season, and I fully plan on calling them for this because, well I'm just that lazy. read more

Warning: Based on my experience, I strongly recommend avoiding Johnson's Pool. I paid approximately $20,000 for equipment upgrades, but the project was left incomplete. The pool heater was installed incorrectly, making it impossible to connect the gas line, and the smart automation system was never fully programmed or integrated. When I asked them to correct their installation errors, I was told I would have to pay additional money to fix work I had already paid for. I also left this experience feeling that I was treated differently because of my race, which made an already frustrating situation even more upsetting. We have never had a bad experience with Johnsons. We bought a large propane stove from them and then a couple years later we bought a pellet stove from them. They are professional and polite people. When they have been to our home for anything, we have been happy with them. The installation people are wonderful. I went to the big weekend sale in April to look at the spas they had on sale, and was immediately met with Sabrina, when I came in the door. She was a huge help with our search, and I was impressed with the showroom and entire business right away. Family owned and they CARE about your happiness, that is truly evident by the awesome service we received. Dan the electrician was awesome, and one of the owners, Eric (and assistant Chris) moved out our old clunker and set up the new one. They were amazing. It was a huge job/feat but nothing was difficult for them - they know what they're doing, for sure. Sabrina came out to visit us once installed, tested our water and gave us a quick orientation on chemicals and how to work the spa. I am more than delighted with Johnson's and I'm hoping to get a quote from Eric on a new liner/small heater and filter on our above ground pool. My back/neck pain thanks all of you! I've had my hot tub for a little over 10 years. In that time I have requested assistance from the "service manager ". Both times I've had questions that she said had to be addressed by the manufacturer. Bot times I sent her audio or like last year pictures of an issue. I sent the pictures to her while in the store. Recently moved to area. Home came with a high end tub from Johnson's. I had a very good experience initially with questions about tub and spending quite a bit of money in chemicals. My boyfriend also utilized them for winterizing his tub. I had a very quick service call for a what I thought was a major fix. Circulation dial in wrong direction. I have bought twice from other sources. After my purchase(s), that was all the support and help I received. I was left to fend for myself. Currently, this locally owned and community business is who I trust and will stay with. The owner and staff are incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and nice people. If you read the negative review here, look at the reviewer's other reviews. Consider the source, someone that apparently can not be made happy. I am simply a very satisfied customer (for about 4-5 years) and would highly recommend Johnson's Pools and Spas. If you want to see some of their work, they have a pool outside their business and three pools at Tioga Downs. I had one not-prefect experience with them, then a very bad experience with them, mostly based on the fact that they do not train their salespeople very well. First incident: The year 2000. I bought a hot tub and no one at Johnson's bothered to tell me that I needed an outside on/off switch. I did not put one in because of this. So I was violating safety codes the entire time I had the tub and, also, whenever I needed maintenance on the tub I had to be home at the time to turn off the tub from the breakers in the basement. Just an inconvenience that could have been prevented by better communication. They didn't bother telling me this, either, when I bought my second tub. But by then I knew what I needed. Second incident. 2017. I purchased a new tub because the original one was shot--they only last about 10-15 years, and the flood of 2011 knocked it right off it's base. So in 2017 I was ready to make another purchase. All was fine until five days before Johnson's was to deliver the new tub. I received a call from them saying that they were going to have to charge me more than my contract stated ($50) to take away my old tub because the hot tub had been outside, and hot tubs outside soak up water and get heavier. (Are not most hot tubs outside?) Then it changed to, "Your hot tub was in a flood, so it is really heavy." (Yeah, that was six years ago. I'm sure it dried out by now.) I felt that this was a bait-and-switch tactic. They tell me it's going to cost me $50 to take the old tub away when I buy the new one, then as the new tub nears its delivery date, taking the old tub away suddenly costs more. (They never even told me how much more it would be, and I was too stunned when they called me to ask.) I ended up asking for my deposit back. Happily, they gave me this deposit back and I bought my new hot tub someplace else. (I think they gave me my deposit back because I mentioned talking to my lawyer and going to court if they did not take the old tub away for $50 when they delivered the new tub.) Along with returning my deposit, they sent me a really snotty letter--like this was all my fault. There is also much they don't tell the customer. They don't provide the outdoor on/off switch or the breakers for the tub (many places do) and they do not tell you that these will cost you about $300 when you buy them--not counting paying your electrician to do the work. They never provided me with a cut sheet--a set of instructions for my electrician. No one knows anything there. One salesperson told me my tub used chlorine and sold me some floating ball to automatically dispense it. The next salesperson told me the hot tub I bought used a different chemical and that I didn't need the ball. Don't expect anyone you need to talk with to be there then you call. "They are at lunch," "They just left the building," "They don't work today," will be the answer. I wanted the hot tub delivered after I got out of work--3:00 p.m. They told me that they could only deliver the tub in the morning because they only delivered in the morning. Then when showed up to Johnson's at 3:00 pm.m asking to speak to the head of the delivery department, they told me that he was out on a delivery. What? You just told me that you only delivered in the morning! The bottom line is, if you can't trust these people to stick to a contract, what else can't you trust them with? read more

We have had the most positive experiences with everyone at Johnson's Pools & Spas from the first moment we spoke with them on the phone and then visited them in Owego. We were brand new to the idea of spas and had a lot of questions and wanted to research the best options for us. Audra and Kristen were so knowledgeable and helpful in every way. Johnson's is the only local dealer who took the time to listen to our requests, explain all the options, provided quotes and let us try out the actual product in their store. They also put us in touch with the manufacturer who could also assist with further details on the product we were interested in. All their spas are made in the USA, it is wonderful to be able to support a local Pennsylvania spa manufacturer! The ordering and sale process was smooth. The delivery crew was wonderful. We have had the spa for almost a year now, and we did have a service request for a slight leak which we received immediate response and the service technician was great! He drove out in a snowstorm to fix our leak right away.
