North Hills Tire Pros have been servicing my cars for 5 years. When I got new tires, Seth actually gave me a price on 60K warranty tires that was lower than I had estimated it would be! When my 2008 Mazda3 blew a head gasket, Seth inspected the car, and advised me to get another car. He did not charge for that inspection. He offered to also inspect my new-to-me 2016 Mazda3 for free before I purchased it! I brought it by on the test drive and he fit me in to his schedule. I can not write enough great things about Universal Tires! Where do I start?…read more I came in around 11 to get a price on 2 tires. Mr. Ray, the owner, greeted me by asking my name. (He did not forget it through this whole process.) After getting my tire size, we realized they were not in stock. He advised me they will be in about 3pm today. Since I am visiting the area, I took this as an opportunity to go shopping. While I was out, my car broke down(ish). It started to sputter, shutter, and stall out. I've been traveling, its an old car with high milage so this action did not catch too much off guard. Anyhow, I made my way back to Mr. Ray in hopes he could not only put my tires on my car but help me figure out why I am stalling out and not going over 30mph. I came to a slow roll into his shop. "PUTT PUTT PUTT" and my little Mazda Tribute cuts off. Mr. Ray did not hesitate to try and help even though he said this was out of his specialty. He pushed the gas petal to the floor & a huge cloud of black smoke came out of the back. In conclusion, he put on the tires I needed, checked my oil/topped it off (at no cost), did an all around inspection before I left. What made it ABOVE AND BEYOND service (besides the top off on oil) was the fact he called a muffle shop (as he suspects I had a cat. converter issue) to get some quotes on help. Not only did he call for quotes, he had one of his mechanics FOLLOW me to the shop to insure I got there safely since my car was stalling out. (Follow me to the review on Bob's Mufflers. They are just as awesome!) This shop goes ABOVE AND BEYOND the call of duty. While shopping for tires, this is the place to go. By the way, 2 tires, after balance and rotation only cost $240. That is for Goodyear new tires. ;) (At Walmart, my tires were $87 each at lowest cost, not including putting them on. That goes to show you how great his price is. )

My neighbor recommended me to take my car to Midway Service Center, owned by Larry Dollar and a mechanic named Jimmy. I never met Jimmy, but what was so awesome about these guys was that they had opened their shop early for me... like at 6:20 A.M. No other service station will open this early for you around town. My neighbor called them and they didn't hesitate. This helped me out a lot because I had a mandatory job training the same day. I dropped my car with my neighbor, rode over to my training... came back around 4 pm and my car was fixed and running smoothly. They probably had it done a lot sooner. Either way, they repaired it for a really affordable price. Only problem is that they do not accept credit card- only cash or check. I came over with no cash and had to run by an ATM. Larry gave me the keys and told me to pay him back later (which I did). No mechanic will give you this kind of trust. Extreme trustworthy mechanics. Thanks Larry and Jimmy! You guys are the best! :)

My wife drops the car off for service and tell her to get approval for anything beyond what we've asked for (check out a wire dangling from the bottom of the car and an oil change). They call back and say that the car needs some $700 service work done at the 30k mile mark. This apparently is an oil change, tire rotation, AND they change your air filters and windshield wipers. I tell them NO and stop by the Advance Auto Parts down the road and replace the air filters and wipers in their parking lot and save about $500. They did suggest a new battery but wanted $190 to replace it. Advance Auto Parts sold me one of their best for $90, installed it free and gave me a 3 year replacement warranty. Another $100 I'll keep. I know it's an Acura and all, but this place never fails to shock me at the prices they charge. i guess some people must let them do this otherwise they wouldn't tell me these ridiculous prices with a straight face. I'd have given them 1 star, but they did fix the wire for free.
